This adult version of GI Show (beer and swearing) was much appreciated! Really great interviews and a very interesting dynamic between the two developers.

Great episode! Loved the dynamic between the devs and hearing someone in the industry this behind their game and so impassioned about it is so refreshing. Hope A Way Out lives up to its potential, I think he sold a lot of people purely on his enthusiasm alone.

Saw one of Fares' films. Dude is funny as hell. Plus Brothers is visually and gameplay wise exciting. I hope Double Fine and Hazelight Studios will collaborate on a game in the future.

Funny how they say Ooblets will be out soon and 4½ years later it's still not officially released.

28:38 to 29:17 They announced that if you have a copy of A Way Out you will be able to send a friend an invitation to join play with you without they having to buy the game. Really cool.

I agree with many of Josef Fares' sentiments about game design in general. When playing Brothers I really enjoyed the pacing and delivery of that game. I don't enjoy falling into "routines" in adventure games. I especially agree with his sentiments on "japanese" game design. An 80 hour snooze fest is not what your average person wants to endure or force yourself to endure. In the same vein I find games like Gears of War or CoD are just as much a snooze fest for the same reasons. Let's engage the players and see what we can do with the input device. He also seems at odds with the average personalities in the game industry, a guy coming from the film industry who is brash, outgoing and not afraid to take risks. Some of the best games I've ever played follow this line of thought, Inside, Shadow of the Colossus, Super Metroid. Games that don't overstay their welcome and keep driving you forward right to the very end.

@ 17:00 Totally agree with you, Mr. Fares, repetitive gameplay and storytelling do not work. I love the Last of Us, but this nonsense of finding the plank or ladder or dumpster pissed me off from my very first playthrough. Joel gets reunited with his brother and, holy shit, we haven't shot anyone in a while! --- Bing! Bandits invade the water treatment facility. Where's Ellie gone? Get the horses! We're worried about her, but wait!! We haven't shot anyone for a minute now! Let's get thrown from our horse, shoot some guys, and THEN resume what we were doing. Developers that want us to connect to their characters HAVE to get away from gamifying these stories into the ground...

@ 19:12 Yup. None of Witcher 3's systems is super polished (horse racing flat out sucks) but because of the great variety of systems in that game, and that they are polished enough, people love it.

Someone tell Josef Fares to play Nier: Automata. His game philosophy of variety and non-repetition is showcased in Automata really well and Yoko Taro said that was major component of the game

Love Josefs passion and vision about exploration within games. That we don't know how and what games can be like yet. So tired of brown-orange-black-testorone-masculine-shooting-games. Want to see a higher diversity within games.

Wasn't big on Brothers but it was an interesting game. Josef definitely has a magnetic charm and feels "fresh" in an industry of a lot of cynical staleness. He's selling me on the game that's for sure

What if Josef is talking about how we're gonna be able to buy one copy of the game and then we can pick out a friends account and now they too can download the game and now you both get to play together. Even CRAZIER. Your friend can now keep his downloaded copy.
