All I care about is the release date for God of War. I know the game is gonna be awesome. Hopefully it will be revealed this month.
I'm pretty sure it'll be sometime in March. God of War 1,2,3 and Ascension have all been released in March.

Usually if I click on a video over 30 minutes long I don't make it to the end but for some reason you can release a 2 hour video and I watch the whole thing

I'm really liking this new approach to God of War. I think it's going to pay off for most gamers, but long-time fans may not like the new direction.
They referenced Christian mythology in the original God of War? Kratos killing Jesus Christ after a bloody battle would have been one hell of a controversy lol.
2017 was a great year for games
What I want is thirty minutes of uninterrupted God of War gameplay that takes place mid-game so I know what most of the features are.
i personally what nothing, though i could see a "letsplay" being cool
Then wait until after the game releases. You know they’ll never drop 30 min of uninterrupted gameplay.
Chris Chen or wait and see if the PlayStation TH-cam channel will do an underground segment with God of war a week or so before ur releases. That has commentary but just mute it lol

i just beat the first original sin and im about 9 hours in to number 2 and i can see why this is Tacks number 1 like fuuuuck its good :')
Played through Doki Doki Literature Club on New Year's Eve and, man, that thing is great. Was about 4 hours long, free on steam, I would recommend it.
Also, I appreciated Hansons bombcast reference :)
Finally, South Park makes a Top 10 list. Feel like it's been ignored for the most part

Steam World Dig 2, never gets any praise, but I thought it was one of the best games of 2017. A Hat In Time was definitely deserving as well.

Sooo many great games this year, best year in gaming in a year where I have played more games than ever!
I can't say I know the exact requirements for a game to have been a Greatest Hits release - I think it definitely was sales, but that's about it.
What I do know, is that Greatest Hits versions were often updated versions of the game. Like Silent Hill 2 - they backported the lighting engine used in the Xbox release as well as other new features. Devil May Cry 3 got the Special Edition release as its Greatest Hits version.
So I'm thinking that aside from sales, it had a bit to do with releasing fixed/improved versions of titles as well. At the very least - some devs would use their Greatest Hits status as a chance to release an updated version.
PS4 does have Greatest Hits - but I think they're only in Asia. Not 100% on that, though.
I have a feeling GoW might still do a throw back to pull out the camera or make it a flash back lol

God of War and Gears of War, two GoWs that are flagship series for their respective platform that I loved with the first 3 main entries and a fourth prequel entry that made most people feel that the series ran its course. Then came the sequels, Gears of War 4 was a lot more of the same. Good, more refined but didn't really justify another entry. God of War decides to go in a different direction from previous entries and, well let's see if that works in its favor.

Steam World Dig 2 was the best Metroid style game of 2017. Yes, better than that 3DS Metroid game.

Admittedly, I have a huge backlog of video games. I collect PS1,2,3,Wii,Gamecube games and I don't have real intention on beating them all but I'd like to finish as much as humanly possible. That said I can't really keep up with every game that comes out a specific year. But I picked up 2 and I think I chose good. Maybe there are some other cool games out there (I'm sure there are) but I played through and loved 2 games that were released this year:
Nier: Automata
Outcast - The Second Contact
I bought Prey too, started it and it looked promising, I need to find to play that game more.

It's a remaster. All the voxel terrain was thrown out of the window and replaced with proper mesh. 3D models have been updated, got some cool lighting effects and such, everything you can expect from the Unity Engine. But they kept the old voice dialogues which is good in a way that the characters sound exactly as they should but bad because the sounds are compressed (you won't hear that after 5 minutes).
Dukefazon oh excellent. I might grab it for a bit of the ol' fun. I played it in french as a kid, and the main character is by the voice actor who dubs Bruce Willis. So there's better be a Bruce Willis voice mod for the English version or else I'll be disappointed. :) maybe I'll rip the voice tracks from Apocalypse and put it in Outcast.
I don't have much fond memories for Bruce Willis. It's the original voices, I guess all languages are in the game that were there originally. The game holds up pretty well. If you compare "then-and-now" images, it's surprisingly good.
If you stopped at B you didn't actually play the game.

Joe has a weird taste, Persona 5 GOTY? From the 5th palace till the end it's a pretty bad game! I wonder why he wasn't as critical with it as he was with Xenoblade 2

Silent Hill - Homecoming was the first game where I first saw the shimmy across some narrow stuff. First you had to cut open the thing with a knife and shimmy across. I don't know if it was to mask the loading. But I remember that in Red Steel 2 you had these stupid doors you had to go through. It was one large map but it was divided by doors. And when you wanted to go through your guy kept bashing into it until the game actually loaded the other side and finally let you through. Somewhat similar to Dead Space but it wasn't as noticeable in Dead Space I think.
Breath of the wild is a game where you either love it or hate it and a game like that does not deserve game of the year.

From the standpoint of someone who doesn't believe in it, it is mythology. I'm sorry that could potentially burst a certain bubble of yours but not everyone is on-board.
BotW is good, but definitely not GotY. PUBG is a far more compelling game.

Lol. If you say so. When I think about a great year in gaming, I think about 2007. That year gave us the beginning of Assassin's Creed, Crackdown, BioShock, Mass Effect, Rock Band, The Witcher, The Orange Box, Heavenly Sword (a personal favorite), Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and Uncharted, and also produced some of the greatest sequels ever in Super Mario Galaxy, God of War II, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Guitar Hero III, and Halo 3. Compared to all of that, what did 2017 have? According to this list, some mobile trvia, online shooters, a Mario game, a Zelda game, an Assassin's Creed game and Wolfenstein. You could easily get around to all that in one year.

Most of these games got a lot of praise and acclaim so I think this has been a pretty good year (also, this isn't a complete list, there's surely more games released this year like Tooth and Tail, Spellforce 3 and Battle Brothers which I don't really know about what the general reaction to is but I'm guessing is pretty good)
Yeah, that kind of proves my point. Other than remasters which I don't count, around five of those games interest me.
SlowBurne that doesn't prove your point at all, it just proves these games didn't appeal to you, which is fine, but loads of 'em appealed to a lot of people, which explains the general consensus as to why 2017 is considered a great year for releases, especially compared to last few years where we had a few excellent releases but not on this scale.
