I had the hardware version. Nice machine. The sounds are not ‘old fashioned’, they are ‘specific’. Having an improved software version now with much more options is a great enhancement to the original. The only thing that’s missing now is the foot switch for start-stop. I’m still in doubt of I should buy the software version, as I sold the hardware back then.
I’ve been having a play with the demo and I’m sold! At that price it’s a no brainer and it’s arguably my favourite sounding drum machine. New sub here for thee squire, peace! ✌️
I love the CR78. I'm waiting for Behringers RD78 as the Metal Beat is one of the big draws for me. Why Cherry decided to cripple it I'll never understand.
Nice review!! But why oh why did they not take the pattern editor of Roland Cloud as an example, where you can see the whole pattern at once? They could have made it another page. I think this is a huge omission. Of course Cherry gets the points here for flexibility of the sound and for offering a CR78 which is missing from Roland Cloud.
I was thinking something similar, but then though... well, I'll just use the piano roll in the daw... and then I thought... but that's too easy, I want to push buttons, dammit! A bitg part of why I like CA stuff is the tactile-manual feel they deliver, especially when set up with a good midi controller.
Honestly, we considered doing it that way, but it would've meant four UI pages which we felt was too much. And with 16 instruments (including accent), the button rows would've been really small (and we couldn't make them look vintage-correct!).
Super easy - grab and drag the DRAG-EXPORT button cluster to a MIDI track in your DAW to create a MIDI clip. This works for the song mode too (it will make a big clip), and if you're using the standalone version, you can drag a standard MIDI file to your desktop.
That's the whole point. It's an authentic emulation of a vintage drum machine from the 70s. If you don't find use in it, then hey! DON'T BUY IT. And I'm also calling you out for being ageist AF.
Because it's a classic Roland drum machine that's been used on countless hits and no other company has made a fully programmable (i.e. not sample-based) version, and there are already many 808/909 clones out there.

Hey thanks for subscribing :)!
good pick to emulate from cherry audio on this one.
Yep, a classic that's not too popular as other Roland drum machines
Gonna be making hall and oates in no time 😅
Really like the sound of this, and the customization
Yep! It's deeper than it looks!
Just like me.
Nice overview. :) Sounds pretty good!
Thank you!
Yeah this thing is amazing. I now see where Old school casio keyboards originated their sounss from.
Gotta love those old Casio beats
Ooooohhhh yeah... lightbulb moment
Sounds ♥♪Great ♦☺☺

It's still there in the mixer. But dunno how different it is than the original
Phil Collins and John Foxx

It could have been a nice addition, but the sequencer is not too complex as it is. Thanks for watching!

@@celebutante Thank you for the update, yes it might have been a bit too much with 16 lanes + accent.
Let’s say I wanted to substitute sampled drum kit in my daw, but use the pattern programmed into the cr-78, is there a simple way to do it?
I believe then you should use the midi export feature

❤ me to myself... do I really need another drum machine?
Two minutes later.
Credit card activated!
This unit looks to just be fun.
Haha been there. It is really fun tho
@@AlexReidStudios i can't wait to mess with it. The song chaining is going to be fun for jams
Yup. Pure magic. I
Do you understand the difference between review and overview?
Yeah, this is a bit of both really
You really need to remove that mask, it is freaking me out and I do not scare easily.
Sorry about that, but I won't do it just yet
Why this and not a drum machine that I can use like a 808 909 707 etc? The sounds are so old-fashioned. Bossa Nova yeah no thanks gramps...

The sounds are what you make out of them. Of course if you don't like it that's ok, every product has their customer :)
