Thanks very much for helping preserve these gems . If you ask me, the ultra realism of today is boring compared to the fantastic style of the past . This was a different country than what we have today . I miss those days. .

In reality when British Colonel Banastre Tarleton ordered the twelve year old Andrew Jackson at his home in Waxhaws South Carolina to clean his boots, the Young Jackson refused, the incensed Tarleton drew his saber and slapped the boy across the face with the flat of the blade the edge, cut him, scarring him for life, and leaving him with a hatred for all things British, for the rest of his life.
Yes, that Andrew "Hickory" Jackson. The role of nurse that Mary played in this story was actually carried out by Elizabeth, Andrew's mother. She contracted cholera while on the prison ship and died shorty after.
One of his last appearances for Disney was as “MR. MAGOO”. Personally, he should have been awarded the Best Actor Oscar Award for that purpose, but certain conspirators fixed it for Jack Nicholson to win for “AS GOOD AS IT GETS” instead.
He was quite brilliant in this. He had been kicking around for about 10 years in some dreadful television and MGM drivel, and Disney finally made him a star with this. Kudos.
The Black Hole of Calcutta atrocity of 1756 was horrible. Reminds me of the conditions of the Jews packed into the German train cars to the death camps to the point of asphyxiation and trampling and thirst.
Bob Iger, by some estimates, by his hubris in thinking he and his short-lived successor could waltz by thinking DeSantis would not dare touch the 60-year old Reed Development Co. after their tasteless activism against sensible policies protecting children from devotees of the WPATH group and their unscientific expertise, lost Disney Corp. about a TRILLION future dollars in earnings over the next 20 years! They have killed the Star Wars overplayed franchise with yet more "girl empowerment" (that has done nothing to empower girls in 30 years.... asides from the ones they despise, like Champion Swimmer Riley Gaines). They killed Marvel with more wokeness. Their last movies have bombed. Employees in FLA and Anaheim have been caught up in dragnets for pedo rings. Finally, some new board members have revolted against their proggie spoilage of what was once one our national treasures of wholesome and fun entertainment. A lot of talented non-BiPoc animators and storyboardists had been passed over as well despite NO experience. It might take a Budweiser-sized boycott of their movies and parks to get their attention.
Marions real value to the patriot cause was in the fact that he was able to keep the British off balance, interrupting their forage parties, and lines of supply, they spent so much time, and assigned so many personnel in trying to capture him that they missed the fact that General Benjamin Lincoln was raising an army West of the mountains, that would eventually defeat them, at Cowpens, and Kings Mountain, on top of that, in one of his most spectacular victories, Marion was able to take a major British fort by building a tower, in the course of a single night, and placing it next to the forts walls, with riflemen on top, at dawn the Brits, found they couldn't show their faces, without getting shot, and having no choice, they surrendered, after Kings Mountain, Cornwallis moved to Yorktown, expecting to receive, supplies, and reinforcements from his brothers fleet, but a French Fleet arrived defeated the brother and landed a French Army that joined Lincoln, Washington made a forced March to join them, and the war was over, Marions tactics are still taught at West Point, and the Ranger School today.
Marion's force was his own creation, not part of the Continentals. The rank of general was honorary. As his success grew he undertook larger and more complex operations, and needed help from Congress.

I can't agree with you more! The ultra-realism you speak of is a complete fabrication.
Apparently so.
Definitely.
I watched these as s kid and never forgot them. Thank you for posting to enjoy again.
Ditto.

Yes indeed.
Andrew Jackson future President?
Yes, that Andrew "Hickory" Jackson. The role of nurse that Mary played in this story was actually carried out by Elizabeth, Andrew's mother. She contracted cholera while on the prison ship and died shorty after.
I thought that was Leslie Nelson. What a trip. He of police files, airplane..
He was very much a dramatic actor before Airplane. After that movie his career changed.

What a difference between Walt's Disney and the perverted Disney of today.
Maybe you are the problem
@@jjj1951 If you are a dude with a wig and high heels, the new Disney is your paradise.
Don't blame Walt. He and his family are gone and can no longer hold sway on the company he built. His successors have betrayed him.
@@lynnesaginaw8061 absolutely 💯 correct. Walt was a great man.
Like the plan of EPCOT, and the corporate result after Walt died...
The ship was also used in ZORRO, episode THE POSTPONED WEDDING in 1960.
Interesting point.
Watching this on July 4th, after many years. Yet here we are, discussing whether a president, not a king, has absolute immunity.
Disney Magic
Young Andrew Jackson meets the Swamp Fox 🦊??? Okay this is Disney edutainment
The Black Hole of Calcutta atrocity of 1756 was horrible. Reminds me of the conditions of the Jews packed into the German train cars to the death camps to the point of asphyxiation and trampling and thirst.
Strong possibility.
Disney always did a lot of historical name dropping.
Obviously.
Before Walt Disney became a perverted enterprise
Pot calling the kettle eh?

Why Would George Washington
Let one of his General's

You need to watch the Mel Gibson movie the subject . While not accurate, it does explain the situation well.

These things happen.
Shannon McDonald, one and the same, the incident left him with a lifelong hatred of the British.
How true of that.
