When I bought my Model,3 1.5 years ago, I went through all the cost of ownership calculations and found a new Tesla to be about as good a deal as a used EV or value ICV, even without FSD. Bought the FSD for $6k too, though. It's a bit of a gamble but pretty good expectation value, IMO.

I'm wanting to say the FSD wont be enabled on a used Tesla sale.

I forgot to mention in the video, how it works at the moment is that FSD is tied to the car and not the buyer. Once it's sold it sticks with the car. Several people have asked for it to be tied to the account instead, but so far Elon has tiptoed around the issue and prefers it to stick with the car.

FSD sticks with the car for exactly this reason. Revoking the FSD on a private sale would be stealing value from the customer that they paid for. Tesla may revoke FSD if you sell the car back to Tesla but that's fine; no skin off your back. In a private sale, the FSD remains.

@@catbert7 the person buys the upgrades. they dont belong to the car. this is something that people will have to evolve with as ICE people will change with EV eventually.
basically "you enabled FSD on that car, on you account". Elon eventually wants everyone taking his robotaxi instead of owning a vehicle. to do that he'll price everyone out of his vehicles.

@@jetah50 Yes, the person buys the upgrade for that vehicle. I already explained why that makes sense. If you buy a hardware upgrade for one vehicle, it doesn't transfer with you to the next. It's working the same for the software. The FSD will transfer to the account of the new owner, if it is sold.
And, yes, Tesla vehicles will eventually be too valuable to sell for less than a couple hundred grand, once FSD is level 5. It's just more efficient to have everyone use a car when they need it than to own one and have it idle 95% of the time. Will be much cheaper to be a user than it is currently to be an owner. Plus more flexible, as you'll be able to call whichever vehicle suits your needs for that trip. And the massive revenue boost for Tesla will mean they can grow even faster, replacing ICVs with EVs far more quickly and, thus, mitigating climate change to a far greater degree. It's a win for everyone.
