Unfortunately everything you see in this city is post WW2. You will notice that there is no old part of town because the entire city of Changsha was burned to the ground in what is now known as the Wen Xi fire of November 13th 1938. Changsha was one of the few cities in China that stood on the same spot from its founding, and 2500 years of history in the city was burned to the ground and the city was literally sent back to the Stone age
China does it quite often and not just for foos. When I worked in Zhuhai I used to go shopping for tools for work in - yes Tool Street. It made things so much easier haven't different suppliers close to each other.
@zackk7175 its because of politics. However, you can access TH-cam pretty easily in china though, many Chinese ppl from China has TH-cam, and the government doesn't do anything honestly, they kinda just encourage you to not use it; but China has many apps that substitute western apps, and they prefer Chinese ones, bc they are just used to it and has many videos from TH-cam too

It's so nostalgic watching this, following your camera to re-explore my hometown. I have been living in Sydney for 6 years now, and prior to this, 12 years in Singapore. Last time I visited Changsha was 5 years ago, and it has changed so much that I would be lost. Thank you for filming the mouthwatering food and the beauty of new Changsha, the night view was stunning! P.S. the island in the middle of Xiangjiang 橘子洲 was naturally formed due to sand deposition, and that's the reason the city was named 长沙, long-strip sand, or at least one of the more believiable versions of the reason behind the name of the city.
i just have to say, i have been watching you for some time now and i admire you so much. it has been a dream of mine to solo travel, especially to east asia but i keep delaying that due to my really bad social anxiety. i could never walk around a city carefree as you do, talking into a camera, people staring at me. going to restaurants alone, especially in foreign countries, where i don't know much about the food. but seeing you so confident on the streets of china makes me really want to get out there. thank you so much for sharing chinese culture, especially the food always makes my mouth water!! sending much love from germany :)

This is also the origin of the name of the city of Changsha(长沙)(long sands).so Changsha is one of the Chinese cities that has not changed its name in more than thousands years.

I’ve shared your videos with my girlfriend lately. We plan to travel in the future once we finish our degrees, and watching you has made me desperately want to explore China with her
茶颜悦色 is definitely the one thing I like the best in Changsha. I on average ordered 4 cups each day when I visited there. What really stands out from any other milk tea is the tea flavor. Nothing comes close in Beijing. I really like 三季虫。Black tea base as 幽兰拿铁, but with higher grade black tea. When I left Changsha, I ordered my last two cups in the train station, took it on the train and I enjoyed on my way back.
I presume Changsha is actually named after this very thin island on the river, because Chang means Long, and Sha is sand or sandbank. So a very long sandbank is what it exactly is. I remember walking hours from the middle of the island to get to the very tip.
The name Changsha has a history of more than 2,200 years. It was originally derived from the corresponding Changsha star in the sky. China was observing the universe thousands of years ago
it's been more than twenty years since I've been to Changsha last time. Those streets in the city, and 橘子洲 (that island in the middle of the river) look so different now! Want to go to Changsha again! thanks Amy for this lovely video!
Awesome adventure Blondie! Thanks for taking us along! I was yelling through my monitor hoping you get that second serving of milk tea. Food looked delicious!
Thanks Amy for taking me explore Changsha city, which I am always keen on visiting one day. The milk tea 茶颜悦色 name is very poetic and I love how they sound similar to 察言阅色 as normal 成语 as normal people would easily memorise but also express a way to appreciate the favour of tea by replacing characters with the same sound. Nice creativity here. The most successful branding idea I would say, in the bubble tea industry.

Even a simple winter melon can be made very flavorful by the chefs in Changsha!🤤 I just wondered, maybe it’s a good choice to refer to the restaurants recommended by 绵羊料理! She's from Changsha, so she's recommending restaurants that are really good but that most tourists don't know about! Also, this island in the heart of the river is a natural formation. It is probably one of the most famous islands in China, called "橘子洲", which is famous for the poem "沁园春·长沙" written by Mao Zedong. This poem is very well written! Almost every line in the poem is famous in the Chinese cultural context. That's why Changsha gets a huge number of tourists every year during the National Day. ❤

That’s my hometown and I’ve left the city for ten years now. It’s really touching to see all the lights turned on by the river, reminds me of my great old time in high school. Thank you for this great video.

That milk tea looks so delicious and I specially like the name of the tea shop,..creative and poetic. I think there was a tea shop with the same name in Cabramatta NSW but has since closed down.
I feel like Mao’s statue is like a must-go on the island. I’m surprised that you didn’t go there haha. Anyways, looking forward to more contents for your trip to Changsha!
Back in 2019 I got to Changsha, unplanned, for 1 night only. I didn't know anything about this city, but I ended up drinking this tea about 6 times. In less than a day.😂 Needless to say, I loved this place. Definitely need to go back to enjoy some stinky tofu:)
When i went to Changsha in the early 90’s, i literally didn’t see another foreigner the whole time i was there! In fact, if i stopped on the street for more than 30sec, a crowd would gather around me like i was a circus freak 😅 I have an amazing photo somewhere, where i stood in one spot for about a minute and spun around and took a wide shot (back then people in China were VERY camera shy) and every single person in the shot was looking at me!

The kind smile of the tangyoubaba lady 🥺
That milk tea looks so delicious and I specially like the name of the tea shop,..creative and poetic. I think there was a tea shop with the same name in Cabramatta NSW but has since closed down.
So impressed with insta-360, and you got me tempted to go Changsha.. another CHINA place added to my bucket list! Oh Mann, you're a good blondie!!!
终于来长沙了啊!!! Changsha is my hometown and I’m super excited for to you finally visit Changsha 🎉❤😊
I feel like Mao’s statue is like a must-go on the island. I’m surprised that you didn’t go there haha. Anyways, looking forward to more contents for your trip to Changsha!
So entertaining! The mutant hamster at 0:52 😃
I do not speak any word Chinese. Happy enough to know how to cook some dishes...
Thanks Amy! This is exactly what i've been looking forward to. I'm going to memorize this video for when i get to visit Changsha.
You make me drool like the Food Ranger used to do it. Thank you Aimee.
Back in 2019 I got to Changsha, unplanned, for 1 night only. I didn't know anything about this city, but I ended up drinking this tea about 6 times. In less than a day.😂
Needless to say, I loved this place. Definitely need to go back to enjoy some stinky tofu:)
there is a guy that do taxi singing there... very normal but good singer... I love the video... not to many Changsha videos so this is very awesome
00:58 Amy’s post covid “Keep your distance from me” tool
LOL!
I always enjoy watching your videos.
Light show on the buildings was beautiful 🥰
Great video as always. I wonder how spicy the rice noodle and the spicy crayfish are compared to sriracha sauce.
a lot more spicy
For Asians, siracha sauce is a -5/10 on the spice scale
@@Johnne009 Oh no... sriracha sauce is an 8/10 on the spice scale to me. 😅
Amy, thanks for the marvelous content ❤
Thank you so much for watching!!!
When i went to Changsha in the early 90’s, i literally didn’t see another foreigner the whole time i was there! In fact, if i stopped on the street for more than 30sec, a crowd would gather around me like i was a circus freak 😅 I have an amazing photo somewhere, where i stood in one spot for about a minute and spun around and took a wide shot (back then people in China were VERY camera shy) and every single person in the shot was looking at me!
yes, this is also a part of great changes of China during the last two or three decades.
