Those jeans came out amazing!! I cant even explain how many mistakes I've made sewing from being tired/ rushing/just frustrated.. I now look at it as learning experience and some mistakes I end up loving!! Also that idea with putting jeans/fabrics up to window is genius, the way you can see exactly what is wore down. Im definitely going to use that idea. I absolutely hate throwing cloths (fabric) away, so i do a lot of patch work or save clothing pieces to use for other things like patches or I make costumes for my children, blankets, dog beds are my newest favorite, especially because im a dog groomer/board. At one time we didnt have enough dog beds so I took a bunch of old flannels and bedsheets and sewed up like 25 beds of all sizes. The dogs realy seem to love them, and there great to donate to local shelters and use up cloths/fabrics that would normally be thrown away!

@@TheUnpicker Custom jeans. I’m 6’7”, big, and want to wear high-waisted jeans. Only way to get them (affordably) is DIY. Then I was thinking making from thrift store jeans. Then I was thinking if I’m putting in all this effort, what would it take to keep them going indefinitely with visible mending, repairs and rebuilding. It was inspiring to see you going way beyond patching, replacing entire sections.

@EricDobsonTV sounds amazing… best of luck. my tip is use as many of the pre made parts as possible, waistband and pockets can be lifted directly from the donor garments… the zip is the only really tricky part, This tutorial is great:

This reminds me of my denim jacket given to me by my late sister that I refuse to let go gently into that good night: many, many patches, and even hand knitted side panels to make it a little roomier…great work!

Those jeans are amazing btw. I've wanted to pick this up as a hobby particularly for jackets I'll no say too much but I volunteer at a charity shop you were just at and left your youtube account. (No her, my boss btw).
I can sow wi needle and thread onto existant garments.Looking forward to more. With a bit of investment, I could do a bit more. (And the confidence to wear them).
