26 French seam in a tee shirt: Making sci-fi clothing
Gundam, Alien, Recycling, this film has it all! I'm realising my Sci-fi dreams with an upcycled tee shirt project. I'll show you how to modify any existing garment pattern to create stylish futuristic designs.
This is effectively a patchworking project to help you bust your scraps into a garment that looks anything but patchwork. I'll cover the pattern modifications, my personal French seams technique, and assembling this ambitious garment.
Also there's a whole episode of 'U-Gundam' the never before seen series from the creator of such classics as 'full plastic jacket' and 'foxy & Steggo'
Get more info about the original pattern by watching this film:

    Honestly I got a sweater/zipper hoodie as a gift, and it has a static wrist cuff. It has no stretch, and it's the best thing since god created the earth. I feel like companies and brands started adding these " stretchy shit" as a form of obsolescence. Because it's way easier to buy a new one then a sewing machine , and a learning how to do all this. It's also very intimidating. This is a great Video. I will give this a try. I will see if I can do static cuff tho. I hate all my sweaters that have that stretchy sht. They all look hidious after a while. Aside from the one I got as a gift that has static cuffs.

      I'm glad that came across in the video... it's absolutely the same method for waistbands and totally worth a try if the garment is already trashed... Something I didn't mention in the video: the cuffs I used where a little smaller than I would have liked for the amount of sleeve that had to be gathered into them... be careful with that or you may end up in a similar situation I had with the waistband on the hamcus hoodie... th-cam.com/video/4-yV2sq6Dvc/w-d-xo.html

    Question: is is the fit that's the problem, or the drape (is it a little too stiff)? If it's the drape (cuz the fit looked beautiful on her to me) than maybe something thinner like an old flannel sheet as batting next time?

    • @TheUnpicker
      @TheUnpicker 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So the thing with this one... at about 3'05'' I add 6cm to the width of the body (I added 24cm total!?) as a guess more than anything, and I think adding half that would have been better... I'm not sure if I'll revisit this one anytime soon, I'm off working on the next big garment, and the next, to try and come up with something that will excite TH-cam... p.s. that's a great idea about the flannel... I'll keep an eye out because I was trying to think of something I could thrift instead of buying batting new... and this is totally worth a test.
