Thanks! It runs on 110 house plugs.. but it does draw alot so i put it on its own breaker so it gets full power, its 16ton from coal iron works, made in the USA.. they are great guys to work with customer service is amazing.
I either fully quench it and then clean it up and put it in the oven for 350 for about half an hour 40 minutes until it turns a golden yellow color and then polish it and that’s tempering it but what just the hammer ends so they’re hardened and then let the core inside where the drift hole is the heat from that Slowly worked its way to the ends and tempers them. You just don’t want the hammerhead to be fully hardened. Otherwise you’ll get cracks and chips but when you’re using the hamburger as long as you’re not hammering on cold hard steel you’re fine just try not to hit the anvil. So you can either temperate in the oven at 350° or temperate from the drift hole with the Forge heat or a torch or even a hot drift but make sure you clean the hammerhead so you can see the colorization because you don’t want them to turn blue and purple you want them to be a Yellow golden brown color

How did you treat the hammer? Looks like you quenched and pulled it out while still hot and let it air cool? Is that all you did with it?
