I love your creations. Amazing! It's probably a dumb question, but I'm really curious to know if the goblet is functional. Obviously, I am ignorant about this kind of work. Even if it's just a piece of art, it's beautiful. This is the kind of art that I can appreciate. Thanks for sharing your talent.
@@OkayImLisa Thank you. It is mainly for decoration purpose. Just like most of my items I look at them most like as am artistic creations to brighten up a home/gallery
When he was alive, my brother always made these goblets with these little hula-hoops around them - only in miniatures! He made them all in his woodshop class in our high school and I took shop because of him but I never got that good, lol. I always wondered how he made them! I actually got kind of emotional, watching this, realizing that this must have been how he did it. Silly. Our woodshop teacher really loved him, too... he was one of his favorite students. He [teacher] made the urn for his ashes when he died, and he still has my brother's various creations displayed throughout his class 10+ years later.
@@Archiekunst We'd love to know, too. He was perfectly healthy and then one day, he just collapsed. He fell into a coma at the hospital, and then came to for half a day. Then he fell back in again, but this time his organs starting shutting down, one by one, until he was completely brain dead and kept alive by life support. He was 23 and I was 21 at the time. It really was difficult because our mother couldn't handle it and signed Power of Attorney over to me, and I had to make the decision to take him off life support. I don't regret that decision, but it's still a difficult one. There were autopsies (I'd requested a second one later), but no one could figure out what exactly the cause of death was. This video really made me emotional and want to go look at some of his trinkets he'd made. You're right that they immortalize him in a way :) thank you for that sentiment.
I'm new to these woodturning videos, and am totally stunned by the imagination, creativity and skill on display. It makes me appreciate the amount of time/care that goes into these works of art. Bravo!
Same here as I watched my first one yesterday. Today TH-cam suggested some wood turning videos and I watched part of one then clicked on another but they just weren’t as satisfying as these. So here I am!
Stunning. I normally get bored when I see craftsmen making resin tables and bowls but this one is extraordinary. Along with your metal seal at the bottom this product becomes top notch.
I'm amazed by how much material simply vanishes in these turning videos. It is like magic. Using the goblet to polish the inside of the rings is a neat idea.
my grandpa mel turned a rattle for me and my sister when we were born, and they both have those captive rings. I always wondered how he did it. I never got to meet him, but his work in wood turning has made a huge impact on the art form, and it’s cool to learn more about it 22 years later ☺️
Beautiful work, David. I was surprised by how blue it turned out. It really did look quite greenish teal as you mixed the resin. I think the blue is much prettier, great job!
Thank you Lucy 😀 I tried new resin pigments and they seem to shift colours during curing. But agree the blue was a better colour match with the wood so it is a happy accident 🙂
This is beautiful. I love the colours together. I do wish you had polished it more instead of spraying a finish onto it, but it still looks great. Great video. 👍
Hello David Let me just say that it is awesome to watch you create the things you do on here! I can watch for hours!! Also I was wondering if there is somewhere I could purchase/order a goblet like the one made here?

I've watched several videos from several users and this is the first time I've seen someone make an object with a complex outline other than some natural details left at the top. Awesome! The rings around the goblet's neck are a nice touch.
That's KEWL !!! Ive done a lot of wood lathe work, but gluing that sanding screen on there to sand the inside radiuses of your rings was careful planning and genius ! I learned a bunch of tricks from your video!!! VERY NICE !!! Thank You Bill, from Tn. 🇺🇸
Incredible work jack. It's been a dream of mine to have a full fledged wood shop. If i could create furniture and wooden items for a living then I would be happy in life. Your videos inspire me to do it.

Very sad. May I ask how he passed away? Art makes us immortal.

Hello, how do you manage to keep in the degasser? If I put it under the edge, then in the chamber the resin rises up and pours out
