    The DCC system is scary stuff for a new model railroader like myself, but that is the way to go. Thanks for the detailed descriptions..

      Steve1749 once you learn it you will never go back, trust me! The cost is a little higher, but operations are worth it. Also with all the new products coming out in n scale it is exciting. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching.

    Nice to see you're up and running 👍🏻
    I always wire my layout with my dcs 100 live ( on) , the PM42 tell me when they're a short so no mistake is possible
    I run my layout ( 30+) loco and 8th of them have sound with 1 DCS 100 , I wonder if I will need another booster if there's all running at the same time , time will tell , for sure you got all the power you need with 13 amps

      Thanks Pat for the good words. I mostly decided to break up the layout into four districts, because I want sound on all locos and I want sound cars, second because I don't want shorts in the yard or staging effecting the main line. BTW I love how GNRL is coming together!

    Great videos!!! Love watching your layout grow and develop. I was looking for those RR meters online and haven't been able to find them. Any chance I could get a link?

    Hi Joe my name is Neil schwerdt in west valley City Utah.
    I liked your video what is the size of your cabinet for your DCC ?
    I'm buying a ps2021 I DCC digatrax system & I've got two DP150.
    My lay out is 18x14 feet.
    Again I like your cabinet from Neil schwerdt 11/1/21

    Hi Joe - watching some of your first videos. Do you use any circuit breakers on your layout? If so, which brands do you use? I didn’t see one hooked up in this video.

    • @centraljerseyconrailinnsca5676
      @centraljerseyconrailinnsca5676  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At this time I haven’t install any breakers. I have planned the wiring to have all the branch lines on breakers. It became apparent during the op sessions that they were really needed. I have to get to it before operations being again. I’m looks at using the Digitrax PM42. I will definitely do a video when I install it.

    I used simple Ty-wraps to hold the Command Stations and some other power system units that don't have screw mounting. Very cheap and quick. Did you plan your wiring early on for possible block detection and signaling prior to connecting to terminal strips and back to your DCS100 or DB150? Regarding the tools for Loconet, invest in good tools once and take care of them!

      Jon Frost no I did not plan for signaling, planned for block detection on the hidden areas only. The layout is dark territory running with form D's.

    I have a Digitrax Chief starter set and am ready to take the DCC plunge. It has a DCS 200, but there was never a power supply included. You never mentioned anything about your power supplies. I'm not real interested in paying over $200 for the recommended PS2012E! Yours obviously are not that extensive/expensive. What's the facts, Jack?

    • @centraljerseyconrailinnsca5676
      @centraljerseyconrailinnsca5676  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The power supplies I was were the PS 615's I had to use three. The power supply you are referring to is for multiples unit. In retro I probably should have used that because I have the command station and three boosters. They get you one way or the other. LOL! Thanks for watching.

    I just sub'd you back and I'm glad I did! You're at the point I was (almost) when I dismantled my last layout. Hopefully we can help each other out. I never thought to use RRAmpmeters, good idea. Question: are you using circuit breaker cards?

  • @cpflogsubdivision450
    @cpflogsubdivision450 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I do like your setup but i will warn you about your power supplies. The PS514 is a BAD downgrade from the PS515 that is replaced. Digitrax calls it a 5amp power supply but it only puts out about 3.5 amps. I tried one when they came out and took it back ASAP. What you want yo get is the NEC 5 amp power supply. www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/524-215 here is the link to the Walthers website so you know what you are looking for. It is the same as the OLD PS515. It is the same price and you get the Amps that you need!!!!
