On your recommendation I bought a tube of Parr clear. First time I applied to aluminum gutter seam leaking I had a bad outcome. I didn't thoroughly clean off the old caulk and I didn't let the Parr cure long enough. I tried again, sanding and using isopropyl alcohol for a clean surface. I applied the Parr, which goes on easily, and let it cure for a week. No more leak! It's essential to have a spotless surface.
I like how he doesn't just market a product but also lets you know the pros/cons of other products in comparison to what he likes to use so i'm going to try this stuff out.
Good morning! Thank you for the video and recommendations. You are right, I am having a hard time trying to find the Parbond aluminum gutter sealer online! I guess I will keep searching...it works amazing!
I used this product (Parr Parabond Clear) on leaks in three separate places on my gutter. (The leaks were on the joints). I followed instructions, and prepped the joints until they were clean down to the bare metal. Then I applied the sealer as Mr. Hardware instructed, and waited a little over 24 hours. Then I ran a hose in the gutter to test whether it worked. It completely sealed the leaks in two of the joints. However in the third joint, just a tiny bit of moisture is collecting on the bottom of the gutter. My question is this: Can I add another bead over the beads I have already laid on that section of gutter? I assume the sealer would find its way into any remaining cracks. But I'm not sure. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance!
How do I clean and apply this on a 2nd story gutter. Is there a way without getting on a ladder??? I have a deck. Then a small 1st floor roof…and then a 2nd floor more inwards If that makes sense…so I’d have to put a ladder from the first roof, walk on that one, and then put a second ladder on the 1st floor roof to reach the 2nd. Any way I can do this from the floor??? Any tips or advice will be appreciated!!!! Thanks!!
Sorry, I only have bad news, I need to get my hands in the gutter and wipe the crap out of the crack first before installing the Parrbond on the inside where the source of water is. Anything else is going to be a Band-Aid and won’t last as long.
I like that you only had to use a small amount, rather than coat the bottom of the gutter. I would rather not coat the gutter because it impedes the water flow. I like that it sinks into the joint.
We are trying to improve the gilbertshardware.com website to get this on the shopping cart. I've been shipping it all over. I guess it is hard to find!
Too bad there isn't an easy way to clean the slime that builds up between the metal surfaces. Sorry to hear your failure, could a putty knife wraped in cotton rag with alcohol on it slide between the surfaces? Possibly from the outside?
I wonder what you would recommend if the water is leaking because no drip edge (plastic porch roof). I don't think it's possible to install a drip edge on this plastic porch roof. I need some way of keeping the water from back flowing onto the wood frame that holds up the plastic roof. Would parbond work in that case, between wood and metal? Or would a product like Through the roof be better? Thanks for your video!
I can’t see the pitch or structure you have, but sometimes a bead of caulk, Parrbond is too expensive for this job, like Through the roof, or Lexel on the bottom edge of the plastic can make the water drip there instead of flowing back towards the wood.
@@MrHardware1 Thank you so much! We ended up using through the roof. We love that product. Oh and I found out we have a drip edge but the gutter was hanging too close to it and the gutter was bolted to the wood without rubber gasket seal thing (can't remember what that's called!). Really appreciate your help! Great video and advice!
QUESTION: Do you know if I can paint over the sealant? If so, how long do I need to wait after application to do so. (My house sits about 15 feet below street level and you can see down into the front gutters from the street and the driveway.) Thanks
The Parbond looks great for small joints/gaps, but my gutter is leaking from a few small holes (about dime size). Is there a product you can recommend for this? I've read that Flex Seal and other heavy/thick products often fail in time. Thanks!
I checked and there is no info regarding vinyl. It does stick very well to everything I used it on. We use Quad sealants for vinyl siding to alum trim.
Of course, it sticks to all metal I've used it on. Galvanized metal needs to wear or etch (or treated with vinegar) to break the slippery surface. Blair
Where do you buy this Parbond product? I live in Hawaii. I do not see this product at Amazon, at Home Depot, at Lowes or on the Internet. How sells it with shipping to Hawaii???
Oh s*** I know this video is old but I know this must drive a lot of professionals crazy. Almost everything he has said so far has made me cringe. I live in Ontario South Western Ontario. It could be 30 below and then two days later 60°. This s*** would never work here. But anyway today's tremco gutter seal is the best product on the market. Availability easy to work with and not expensive. My only complaint is that they only seem to have clear or white.
Easy application is nice, but it's literally the least important aspect of the product. How tough is it? Does it flex/stretch? Paintable? UV resistance? How long will it last? etc.
Great explanation. I will be trying this out tomorrow to deal with the coming Southern California rainy season.

Thank you, I'm literally fixing what you described from the "previous guys". New home owners appreciate your knowledge and advice. 🖖

Hi Darrell how did the parrbond work for you and where did you buy it from?
Awesome video! Informative for us DIY types. Thank you.
Thank you for this information. You are right. Parbond is the best. It saved me from 15 year long gutter trouble. Thank you again.
Thank you very much for this information... all the way from the US Virgin Islands.

Tried all various Gutter Seal , nothing works. Have to pull it apart soon and fix.
through the roof is co-polymer rubber and LEXEL is pure rubber, you should try it out see if you like it.
How about another Parr product, Parlastic Aluminum?
My favorite!

Yes you can add more Parabond over the old. Was the gap bigger between the metal in the leaker?

Perhaps for new work? I meticulously removed old sealant, cleaned, dried, applied Parbond and all of the repaired seals broke during the first winter.

How can I seal between the eve traft and my eve
Sorry, I don’t understand ’eve traft’. The gutter needs to be behind the drip edge and not caulked there. Sort of a floating flashing.

I’m pretty sure it can be painted, however an easier solution is to use the clear version.

I would make small alum patches and then parbond or flex seal the patches to the clean gutter.
Where can I find this product please?
We keep getting a limited supply. Call the store 586-776-9532, hopefully we have stock, and we sell and ship.
thats great for ends joins etc what about large holes in the metal and large cracks?
I cut patches of thin aluminum and use them to cover those issues and glue them in w/ Parrbond.
Any possibility that Parbond can be used on vinyl gutters?

I’d be in heaven if all I had to repair was a clean virgin gutter. I need to seal a 20 year old seam with cracking butyl. I’m considering flex tape.
If you can get the surface of the butyl halfway clean I recommend the spray sealer. RUST-OLEUM LeakSeal 267972 Flexible Sealer, 12 oz Aerosol Can
Can you used this product on copper gutters .. ?????
Of course, it sticks to all metal I've used it on. Galvanized metal needs to wear or etch (or treated with vinegar) to break the slippery surface. Blair
Nice I place an order of 10 tubes and pretty Happy with it so far .. thanks ..
My gutters are 20 yrs old and leaking at a couple of seams. Will the parabond work on "dirty" seams or do you have to get very clean?
They need to be clean enough so the adhesive has good contact w the metal

The Amazon link is to a clear product, not aluminum.
For everything we used it and it works the same.
Not available .
Is mrhardware.com out of stock?
It says "Sold Out" on Mr. Hardware retail site. Where can I find this? (in Chicago?)
Easy application is nice, but it's literally the least important aspect of the product. How tough is it? Does it flex/stretch? Paintable? UV resistance? How long will it last? etc.
This is the longest lasting and best gutter adhesive we have ever had. I have it on my gutters 20 years old and still holding together perfectly.
No longer make this product, low demand.
Sure they do. But the price shot up $9 more.
