I used this pattern as a base for a quilt I just finished. I used fewer colors and the strips were not as wide (beginning with 3.5"). It turned out beautifully and I am going to adapt patterns to make some more bargellos. Thanks for the tips!

@@gwendolyn2001 Thanks for the info. Yes, I agree. Bargello quilting to me, seems to satisfy the artistic needs while taking a lot of the humdrum out of a craft with such a high work load. Also lots of options to make each quilt very personalised while having the support of others techniques and patterns.
Just found this lovely tutorial. I tried the link to get the pattern, it's no longer available. Is there a way to get the pattern please? This sould be perfect for one of my Christmas gifts. thank you for sharing your time and talent.
What are the key ideas for fabric choice and placement for a bargello quilt? I have 24 fabrics for my fire and ice, need to eliminate 4, and am having difficulty placing my lights and darks. What is the key to choosing fabric # 1 and so on?
I have the pattern for Fire and Ice is there a way to make this quilt into a queen size? I was thinking if I made an extra set of block it would fit a queen size is this possible?
Can we also purchase this same jellyroll of fabric when we purchase the digital pattern? Would it take 1 or 2 jelly rolls? I LOVE This quilt. Thanks for sharing.
When I work on a quilt like this - the colorful design has to be the focus so I usually just do a simple edge-to-edge design. A pantograph or simple freestyle quilting will hold the layers together and not disrupt the color flow. That was a great question!
I have tried without success to purchase either the pattern or magazine for this quilt. Navigating quilting quickly has never been easy but now it is a BEAR. I truly love this quilt and as shown by this gal makes it so do able...can anyone please help...So frustrated.
Two "jelly rolls" may work, but you have to be conscious of the values and colors that come in a collection. The pattern calls for "20 sets of 4 matching strips". Translated that means 20 fabrics - 4 of each color/print. Pre-cut strip bundles sometimes have 2 of each SKU - note this when selecting fabrics. Also note the number of strips in the pack. 2 packages may work, but three may be needed if you make an error. www.shopfonsandporter.com/product/fire-and-ice-digital-pattern/patterns
Although this is a gorgeous pattern the instruction is very confusing. There are other videos that are much better at explaining and showing how to cut and sew together.

Lovely pattern and colours! The hem tip was great.
Thank you so much
Thanks for the stay stitching tip. I have always wanted to make a bargello quilt and this tutorial has given me the nerve to try it.

The fabrics are Sundance and Poppy Panache by Ann Lauer for Benartex.

this quilt is amazing. what line of fabrics was used in the tutorial?
+miscolchas I used much of Ann Lauer's line, but had to make a few substitutions in order to make the video tutorial.

How would one free motion quilt a quilt of this type-Bargello?

I appreciate the tutorial but her hesitant jerky way of talking is very distracting.
Then select another instructor. Everyone has opinions - and different styles.
@@6quilter4 😂I did. And I left honest feedback as to why I did. Is negative feedback somehow less valid than positive?
