Hiking Desolation Wilderness | Loon Lake to Rockbound Lake

Desolation Wilderness, a 63,960-acre federally protected wilderness area located in El Dorado County, California, offers many excellent hiking and camping opportunities. This vlog covers one trip we took into the Desolation Wilderness on Memorial Day 2020.
We started out at the Loon Lake Trailhead and within a few miles, we had stunning and unobstructed views of Loon Lake and its iconic granite domes.
After crossing a small waterfall at the North-Eastern end of the lake we pressed on to Buck Island Pass. Before heading for Buck Island Lake we made a short detour to see Spider Lake and finally made camp on the Southern shore of Buck Island Lake.
