Chris Paul is Backfiring on the Warriors Already

- Chris Paul recently pushed back on the idea of coming off the bench for the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately it’s in the Warriors’ best interest to have CP3 come off the bench. This is a look at what problems that could create for Golden State.

CP3's playoff history is irrelevant. The ball will be in Steph's hands. CP3 isn't going to be asked to carry GS. He is going to be asked to maintain the momentum generated by Steph. He also allows for alternate versions for GS. LY they DIED by the 3. This year, they can score in other ways until the 3 ball starts dropping again.
They alway die by the three and theyve always had the ability to score inside.
The Warriors are not getting past the Nuggets or Suns lol
@@cottonmather8146 lol suns are huge trash
"CP3's playoff history is relevant. The ball will be in KD and Booker's hands. CP3 isn't going to be asked to carry Suns. He is going to be asked to maintain the momentum generated by KD/Booker. He also allows for alternate versions for Suns." see how silly this logic is? probably not
@@sethc2241except cp3 won’t be the starting point guard for the dubs unlike the suns
Im sure he would come off the bench if he needed to but not what you wanna hear from a reporter on your team introduction. I hope this works out for them.
I agree and I'm not even a Warriors fan. Chris didn't laugh at the reporter, he just questioned her making assumptions even before the NBA preseason.
Russell Westbrook actually was coming off the bench for the Lakers when he was traded, and most reporters assumed that's what he would be going forward. Instead, the L.A. Clippers started Westbrook, and although it was a rough first few games, it ended up working out for them. 🤷🏻♂️
steph can focus more on scooring when cp3 does the handling and point guarding, so i think it would be a great help for steph when it comes to load
It was kind of insulting coming from the reporter. I would’ve acted the same way. Who made the reporter coach? Even if it was true, even if he is willing to come off the bench, he never discussed that with the Warriors yet. A better leading question from the reporter would’ve been: have you thought about how you can best help this team win a championship?
@@HypocritesExposd Neither question was offensive nor presumptuous at all. There was a follow up question where CP's answer was even worse, he was asked if he would consider coming off the bench and he replied: 'we didn't have that conversation yet' (more or less). They're asking if you WOULD CONSIDER IT, not if you're going to, but even to that he took exception... just trade him
I was thinking the same. It's kind of super condescending to assume that and just say that to your face in a press conference. I'd take issue with it too. Let the players and coaches figure it out. CP3 is going to play well no matter what.
Perfect summary of the Warriors situation. The two timeline thing was a huge mistake. I wasn't thrilled about the CP3 trade, but I get that it is primarily a money move and will be beneficial if he comes off the bench/plays with the second unit. Someone should tell CP3 that STEPH was coming off the bench a bit last year and not a peep out of him.
@@JohnnytNaturalnigga, what?! curry off the bench you’re a joke.
Borderline retarded to think cp3 gonna be happy sitting on bench while warriors lose to end games
I would argue that this could also be beneficial if he alternates with Steph! Load management for both would go a long way at staying healthy and fresh for the playoffs!
@@JohnnytNatural There's NO universe where it makes sense to put Cp3 in the starting lineup while Steph is on the bench, it didn't even make sense in Paul's prime let alone now that he's 38
I really like the okc melo analogy and i have little faith this is going to work. If anything it means more Steph of the ball with Paul running pnr or pistol/handoff with draymond. Golden State will again have to fight to keep out of the playins hiding under the "were figuring things out" argument. Either that or they trade Klay
Gsw’s starting line up was the best in the league last year. If CP buys in, they’ll have the best second unit too. I’m not even a dubs fan but I hope he does. He’s statistically made every team better that he moved to. This could be a ring.
CP3 needs to realize he’s not going to get a chip on any team with everything he’s done in the past. He can’t carry it himself. He can’t do it if he’s the second best player. He can do it by being exactly who the Warriors need him to be.
One thing is for sure, if he couldn't do it in his prime it's time to learn new tricks at 38... question is, is it too late for him to change? Interviews suggest GS should just trade him immediately before last season's mess happens again!
Best in the League last year...really dude?

If I remember correctly, the main argument that Rondo is better than CP3 is that Rondo will do everything for the team, where CP3 is all about himself.
Chris Paul definitely has a bigger ego than Rajon Rondo, but that's because Rondo already won an NBA Championship, so his legacy is already intact. CP3 still trying to prove he can get that chip. 🤷🏻♂️

He will go off the bench because that isn't even his option to start or not. He could be traded or be waived since his contract wont be a guarantee one. He needs the Warriors more than the Warriors need him.
Agreed, he has absolutely no pull being on the warriors sorry
If CP3 messes this up it’s proof it’s his fault he hasn’t won a ring. CP3 is on some serious medication if he thinks he’s starting before Steph.

No cap I was not a fan when I first saw you but you’re one of my favorites now
It's crazy to have The Point God on the bench, but..
to be honest..
I don't see how else to do it, unless Klay has tremendously regressed. Wiggins is in his prime, Curry is starting for sure. Its either bench CP3 or essentially start 4 guards. (Wigging kinda plays like a guard)
Any other ideas?
Its not crazy at all. Manu was on the bench yet hes better than majority of starters since the 2000s.
I think they don't care as long as they win. It's going to be a matchup thing. Look at the years they won with Iggy in his early 30s. They didn't start him all the time. It will be a similar role.
I hope CP3 is amenable to playing off the bench when asked. He can do great things off the bench. Plus bench play allows his limited minutes & injury avoidance.
You're totally right, but the real concern is CP3's attitude. Last year the Warriors had a fractured locker room, and it was a major element of their disappointing season. Disgruntled players can be a serious problem. I really his ego doesn't get in the way.
Always click so fast whenever this man posts
CP3 knows how to win ,he just seems to get hurt @the wrong times even though we know he would've love to have played in those playoff games.

The main problem is that the Warriors needed another big to slow down Nikola Jokic and they went for a 6'0 guard.
People have been saying the warriors needed an elite big since Curry had zero rings. 4 rings later it’s dumb to keep repeating the same thing over and over again. You’re just a fan, not a pro. You don’t know better than them.
@@Boudiccanycea and the warriors didn’t have to go against an elite big for any of those runs, only exception was Jokic with an injured team
@@kodakwhite There’s literally no big outside of Embiid who could match up with Jokic in any sense and Embiid is not better than Jokic. Denver isn’t some sort of dynasty with 2-3 championships or something they’ve been beaten repeatedly and a big elite center has rarely, if ever, been part of the formula for beating them. I like Denver I’m just not convinced that the strategies that NBA nephews come up with are effective.

Operating as an over-the-cap team coming into 2022, how do you suppose they send out the 2 draft picks (that turned into JK and Moody) and what salary in order to match Aaron Gordon or Norman Powell? Unless they were trading away any of the big 3 or Wiggins/Looney, there was zero financial flexibility to bring back $20M.
Curious for this next season
If somehow Bucks can get CP3, he would still be a good fit with Jrue in the starting back court
A.M. Hoops is about to get signed to his own ESPN contract. Keep up the hard work.
What's even worse, just before the draft - the Timberwolves offered GSW their #1 overall pick (Edwards) for the #2 overall pick(Wiseman) plus the Timberwolves following year's first round pick back from GSW (Kuminga). Imagine Antman Anthony Edwards on this Dubs team? All-time Dynasty?
Did not know that ... Very interesting. Of course Edwards might NOT have been their pick. Warriors have not drafted well since Larry Riley got Steph and Klay ....
they needed a big tbh. if wiseman wasnt ass, it wouldve been a good fit
@@randygraham926I mean how well u expect them to draft if they have one of the best records every yr n they let go of wiseman way too early
They was NEVER a trade option bruh. Lol! Plus Edward's would have never developed into what he is under Steve Kerr. You must not have ready the reports on the draft workout stories between Ant and the Warriors.
@@ky6632 Of course there was. The Timberwolves made the offer. The Warriors rejected it. Especially when the T’Wolves felt the Warriors would just select Wiseman anyways. Edwards or LaMelo - not bad choices at #2 - plus the T’Wolves get back their first rounder back? No-brainer.

Steph wanted CP3, so they got CP3. When you have a choice between 4 more years of JP or 1 yr of anyone else its an easy decision. If they didnt get rid of the JP contract the team was finished. If its works out well- great; if not- they can easily make a change.
I still wonder why they felt forced to sign him. Maybe that's the type of move that quietly got Meyers canned
@@alexjones6190 I think they was gonna sign him but they just gave him way too much money. He couldve got below a max but nah they was not cooking.

@@alexjones6190 Contract value gives you an estimate of trade value. If JP ended up signing his contract at the end of this season, we wouldn't have been able to get CP3 on a trade. Sometimes, it's best to sign a bad contract to trade it soon after.

Really surprised they kept CP3. All the while I was waiting for him to be traded for key players.
Your analysis is virtually flawless. However consider this. Andre Iguodala and Paul were high picks in the draft and valued in the league. Kerr convinced Iguodala on the importance of him leading the second team. It worked out well enough that I think Kerr could leverage that past success to influence Paul to take on this key role in order to win a championship. What do you think?

The warriors did the same with DLo. Traded him for Wiggins and won a title. I think if there's a franchise that deserves the absolute benefit of the doubt, it's the warriors.
Well said. And all the haters were hating that trade too
I love CP 😍😍😍
I’m watching in the am
The problem is not if Cp3 can start at his age, he still above a lot of Point guards , the problem is that along with Steph , that lack of height would be bad for the defense, and klay is not 2019 klay , .
cp3 is an interesting case, if you listen to media they keep pushing the narrative he is one of the best pointguards of all time, top 75 player of all time, but plays awful in playoffs and never won anything. makes you wonder if nba and media have some agreement about promoting certain players because of advertising deals.
Cp3s hamstring is gonna find a way to sell the warriors season
It wont work because Draymond green and CP3 will already disrupt the chemistry. I hope there's no punching gonna happen sometime in the future.
I think that CP's issue in the playoffs is defense. CP is that guy only, unfortunately he is about 7 inches shorter than the average NBA player and I couldn't readily find the average height of All NBA players.
Anyway, at the energy level of the playoffs CP's lack of size is a real issue, and his training to compensate for this is conditioned at the level of the regular season.
People doubted him OKC but CP got HIS WAY to prove others wrong, minutes & all.
Young players looked up to him & he got the ball as much as he wanted unlike in Houston.
It's different now as his joining a team that is already set on their way of playing in the twilight of his career.
But like Melo in OKC, I don't think he has fully accepted this. Theres going to be some drama through out the season.
I don't see Chris Paul and Draymond Green getting along AT ALL. Dray likes to seem himself as the defacto leader of the team. Chris is not going to take criticism too well especially at his age.
This is a train wreck about to happen.
🔥🔥
I love Chris Paul, but he needs a reality check... it's time to come off the bench and get a ring. Or at least be willing to come off the bench. Unfortunately, you're the one we're rooting for to get "a" ring, not the warriors .
Aslong Draymond is on the team it will work. Worst case he just punch the shit out of Cp3
That won't work against one of the biggest SNITCH in the NBA. The police asked Poole if he wanted to press charges and he said no, instead he got a $130m contract. If someone punches you, it's assault; if someone punches you and you punch back, it's a fight.
Let's see how it works. At some point, klay sits and steph moves to 2 and cp at point. Then maybe on some 4th qrts, cp, steph, klay, wiggs and dray will play. A small lineup but can defend well too
Before you go trashing Jordan Poole, you need to remember that Curry missed a full 26 games last season and Andrew Wiggins missed 40 games. Poole played all 82 games during the regular season and scored in double figures 72 of those games. He had thirty 20+pt games, thirteen 30+pt games and two 40+pt games and they actually won more games then they lost while Curry was out! It was with Poole and Klay's winning enough games during the regular season that allowed the Warriors to even make the playoffs. Now, he played terrible when they got to the playoffs 😂 but they wouldn't have even been there without him!
Nah, CP3 is the type of guy you hate if you're on the other side. A lot of players talk about the goodness of CP3 in his negotiations as the NBA player's association president. He stands up for his guys and that's what a genuine caring leader you want on your side
The warriors should hire fleece Johnson as their mascot lmfao
Anyone else notice at 2:17 the article he is showing is about Chris about getting traded to the rockets when he is talking about how bad Houston wanted him gone.
CP3 is a great leader and he is not a BS guy. So it is logical to beef with cry babies like harden and Ayton. Rondo and Beverly are his rivals so they can hate him.
Let's get it right GSW!!!
You da goat 🐐
It'll work out
CP3 needs to come off the bench and possibly to win a 6th man of the year award that would be nice and also have shot for a ring
Boys replied with this 🗿
A.M hooping from Nigeria........
Curry: Imma go golfing now. CP3 can take my spot 😂
Only way he's starting is if they change their lineup for Steph to play the 2 for a while and Klay would come off the bench (Only due to his battle with injuries making playing less minutes make sense)
I would go small and put Steph at the 2, Klay at the 3, Wiggs at the 4, and Draymond at the 5 with CP3 at the 1, of course. See how that goes and then bench Paul for Looney, which is simple to do. If CP3 can prove he's still got what it takes to be a starter, start the small ball lineup and see how he does.
I'll never get the obsession with being a starter. Be the guy they put on the floor when the game is 0-0 and the stakes are nonexistent?
Or be the closer, the guy the coach puts in and everyone expects to be put in when you need to win.
Sure be both, but if you can only only be 1 or the other? Be the guy that finds success later than the one that peaked in high school 😂
If cp3 can be humble and be a sixth man this will be his best chance now in getting a ring and with him coming of the bench he will have less pressure on his body so he will in paper be more healthy
The way i see it, the new GM is trying to win a chip right off the bat, that's why he's going for vets right now. We'll have to see what happens after this season or the next if it is the best decision for the franchise.
0:59 damn u don’t have to expose melo like dat 😂
