I am a retired 31 year USAF E7/ Master Sergeant . I was at GML 2007, Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in Columbus, Ohio, and they had a long trailer with a large number of Tuskegee Airman driving by the crowd and it made me cry with pride knowing what these fine men went through and what they overcame and accomplished in life ! GOD Bless each one of them !!! SUCH HEROES ! Our Unit back in January 1957 WVANG 167th FG retired the Mustang and was the very last USAF Unit to fly the P-51 Mustang. My Dad was a member of our Unit in 1950 during the Korean War and was activated to active duty with our Mustangs. When growing up Mustangs flew over our house all the time from our Unit, my favorite aircraft of all time ! When I retired I ran our C-130H Phase Inspection Dock and as an old C-119 Air Crew Member and C-130 Troop I can say this is one of the most pristine Mustang restorations I have ever seen ! Just Absolutely Beautiful, Well Done !
I was at that show what a great time we had.
My father was in a B-17 crew and you gentlemen helped them along their mission and let them make it home, on behalf of myself and my generation thank you & God bless All of you
This story is very inspirational. I've known about the Tuskegee Airmen for a while, but this story has touched me. It is a testament to exceptional people who respect history and are dedicated to keeping it alive. Please do not let any individuals or groups try to destroy this history.
You just have to have the tears come. For the brave young men so long ago, and the determined crew today. Stories like this bring us all together as we should be.
They had to fight two wars at the same time, the one at home and the one abroad. Respect.
An incredible story, a testament to true grit and determination. If you didn't shed a tear, you weren't paying attention with your heart and soul.
I've met this beautiful lady up close in 2012 at Sun'N Fun. At the time I was also involved in a Mustang restoration in The Netherlands, sweet memories.
I am saddened by the predudice and injustice of the times but I am heartened by the spirit and bravery of the Tuskegee Airmen and the dedication shown in restoring this wonderful plane.
Devastating crash for that family. I said "Needs a chiplight" when I heard the analysis. I'm glad that's what the presenter was getting at and that there's an option for those engines now.
Amazing accomplishment! Story worth to be told and well done. Congratulations to all involved. A real work of love.
Wonderful tool to honour the Tuskegee airmen and women of the past and to educate future Men and Women of any colour or race.
This project was just awesome. Well done.
I met and flew with many of the people involved and featured when the Red Tail Mustang first flew. Don, Gerry, Bob, and Doug, all remarkable people. When Doug speaks of risk he speaks from experience. Don, Gerry and Bob are no longer with us.
Almost too awsome of a story for words…… ❤❤😂
Such a great story. This is a very honorable tribute to then and now. To those who never gave up. Thank you for keeping the dream alive. One and all. CHEERS
Absolutely brilliant story of fantastic group of people who gave their time, lives and money for a dream.
So well done. Gave me goosebumps.
Really great job!
Watched by a Hinds in Barbados. Special.
Watched from Old Harbour Jamaica.
My heart is sad and it ackes because unfortunately racism still exists today. At the same time I have this unyielding pride for Tuskegee airmen achievements even under those extreme conditions. Perhaps one day people will forget racism, but remember the memories of their patriotism and right to fight for their cause in two fronts.
Very sad about the losses
I just met Doug Rozendall and am good friends with one of the red tails mustang pilots. If and when I ride in it the flight will be dedicated to Lt Fred L Brewer. An airman shot down in Italy whose body was just recovered after 79 years and returned home ❤
