      I loved reading his "Delores Claiborne" for the accent alone.

      Apart from On Writing, the only other Stephen King book I've read is It. Honestly, it's an incredible encyclopedic history of a fictional town. I'm worried that any other Stephen King book might let me down in comparison.

    I LOVED ON WRITING! I listened to him read it on Audible at least twice. That reminds me another fun book about books is, "leave me alone I'm reading" by Maureen Corrigan. I also listened to that one read by the author.... I loved the parts about female adventure tales, detective novels, and the adoption of her daughter. All really intriguing given she's a book reviewer for NPR fresh air. 📚

    Murakami has a great book about his writing process called What We Talk About When We Talk About Running

    • @cakt1991
      @cakt1991 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      He read that for a project a while ago where he read books for a select set of authors while imitating their daily routines. If I recall, neither that book nor Murakami’s routine particularly won him over.

    • @federicosavorani6320
      @federicosavorani6320 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't know, I find murakami's books really great but "What we talk when (etc.)" was really weird and not in a Murakami's weird, good, way, but "more confusing and confused". Like, he describes his writing process as " whatever comes into his mind". He doesn't have planning or anything, so the description of his process reads more like a vlog about running, music, and cats than a book if that makes sense

    Hi! If you’re looking for more books about writing, I would recommend the workbooks from the Gotham Writers Workshop. I’ve used the fiction one, where each chapter was written by a different writer discussing a different writing technique. The book breaks down a lot of technical aspects of fiction writing in a way that’s easy to understand, and provides work pages in the book for the reader to practice working with a specific technique. I loved using this book when I studied writing, and while I no longer do fiction writing (or creative writing in general), I find that the techniques I learned from this book influence how I approach legal writing.
