Hi! I'm aspiring to study animation professionally in the future, so I'm looking for classes to get prepare. At the Animation Portfolio Workshop did you take the special course for working on your portfolio or/and the Drawing Basics for Animation? How much do you recommend the program(s) you took. Pd. Sorry if I made any grammatical mistakes. English isn't my firsr language.
@@obandomia21 hi mia!! apw does both actually, it teaches you the strong fundamentals skills that you need to make the portfolio, and then you get one-on-one advice and help with your portfolio! most of the program is lessons, however, if that's not quite what you're looking for, but for me, i really appreciated it! the skills you need to make a portfolio are very universal with the rest of your art career :)
I'm gonna assume the low personal score is because you included almost all digital stuff. They were probably hoping to see more variety in techniques/styles as well. Maybe more completed markers, water colour etc. I don't think it had anything to do with your style or art itself.
Oh I probably need to do more personal traditional stuff because I haven't dons any traditional art in a while that wasn't life/observation art or that wasn't like doodles. The only exception is a really rough storyboard I made ages ago for my college (btw by college I mean uk college wich is like American High School) project.
Congrats!! You have a beautiful portfolio! I only got an 82, but I'm going to Algonquin's animation course instead. Hope you have a fun time at Sheridan :)
Okay I go to Sheridan (3rd year illustration) and I came back to your channel after a bit and when I tell you I got absolutely JUMPSCARED by the Sheridan logo lmfao, huuuuuuuuge congrats!!! Looking forward to maybe seeing you on campus dawg
Hi I want to apply to Sheridan too but I've been reading the Google maps reviews and I've honestly been scared by it lol, but I want to hear your personal experience at Sheridan since you got into the program I want to as well! What I've been mainly hearing of is: "Sheridan's professors ignores your emails" "Filled with loud, noisy international students that cheats to pass the exam" "support people don't do their jobs" etc. etc. I can't tell if they're rumors or not so hopefully you can give me some insight
None of that seems true. Don't forget that the people with negative experiences are always the loudest. Apply to sheridan, if you don't, you might regret it.
thank you so much!! i would say my improvement between my two applications mostly had to do with my planning and my mindset. i think, with my skills how they were, i could have gotten a better score the first time, but the conditions i was working on my portfolio during were pretty rough and it just wasn't an ideal time to craft an admission portfolio. the next time i worked on it, i HEAVILY focused on preparation. i spent 3 months out of the 4 just brainstorming what i wanted to do for each section and coming up with solid ideas and prep work (the storyboard especially), the last month itself was all for the final draft. i don't think there's enough focus on being in a good mindset to create art, because no matter how skilled you are, if you cannot bring any good ideas to life or execute them properly, it's no good obviously, i did also try to improve my technical skills, and that's where APW really was the best for me -- it just motivated me to practice those strong fundamental drawing skills, especially with gesture and 3D form! observational drawing was the most useful for me for that -- i would go out and explore a bit and get myself some inspiration to keep drawing. i was basically drawing every day and brushing myself up on what i liked to draw and finding my strengths -- i would recommend these two things, always brainstorming and embracing every creative idea/concept that you come up with (and not RUSHING the brainstorming process!!!) and building those technical skills with repetitive practice (i find it's helpful to study artists for areas you're less sure about how to practice, especially for me that was what i did with layout!) i hope that was helpful! also maybe long HAHA
Can somebody please explain to me why you have to be a ready-made specialist to be accepted to this college? What are they going to teach people who already know everything? Of course, it's easy to keep a high plank and the reputation of the best animation college that way, but, apparently, it is just a big lie and waste of money, isn't it? I mean, I understand why they test the artistic skills, but why tf they ask for animation piece? Erm..I came here for YOU to show me how to animate.. If I know how to do it myself, why I need YOU?
Do you remember what your average grades were in the 11th and 12th grades of high school? Because I heard that if you wanna get into Sheridan college you at least need average 90 overall.
That’s most definitely not true, Sheridan doesn’t put much (if any) weight on averages. I’ve had friends with mid to low 70s get in, they mainly are looking at your portfolio and your potential, not how well you did in grade 11 chemistry. As long as your grades aren’t in the 60s and you have a strong portfolio, you won’t face much issue.
grades only matter if you are waitlisted, which only happens if you score one to two percent below the accepting grade of the portfolio. I beleive this year domestic students who scored a 90% on the portfolio and had above a 90 average were also accepted? so it doesn't necessarily matter but it can. your portfolio is what matters most.
guess they acept life drawing as clothed poses hope the exitemenrt will be there when it comes time to pay back a 4 year program couldent imagen be easy road
