Why are animators not appreciated enough to be given millions to make gorgeous animations like this. Corporations stop giving talentless hacks money to make modern life action and 3D crap and give money to people like this with real talent!

QAQ I have a question: I enquired Gobelins about the requirements for a demo reel when applying for their animation bachelor of arts, and they say that we don't need to submit a demo reel? And they also stated that if I knew how to animate then the Bachelor of Arts may not be suitable for me, and I am again confused because you submitted a demo reel. So are animation skills are not really needed as a requirement for a Bachelor of Arts? Or will a demo reel increase the chance of acceptance?
No it's not needed! And if you meet the requirements for the masters you should definitely apply there. Since I already knew how to animate I got to skip a year, and started in the second year of the bachelors. But that normally doesn't happen. Just submit a powerful portfolio and you'll get in, no need for a demoreel! If you want you could always add it but it isn't necessary

Thank you! I learned a lot from youtube tutorials and researching other artists haha. But for starting to learn animation I highly recommend the "animators survival kit" It's a great guide with everything you need to know to get started :)
also if you wanted to learn story board there is an official tumblr for adventure time team and they have several finished story boards for some episodes :))

Hello! I stumbled upon your work and it has been really a great inspiration for me upon making a portfolio for Gobelins! I have a question though, I noticed that your character designs were in pencil but upon inking, coloring it and placing a yellowish background… was that all done in photoshop? I am confused with the requirements because in Gobelins’ website they like mostly traditional outputs. But I can see your portfolio has both traditional and digital 😅
Thank you so much! No those character designs were all done digitally, the only traditional work I have are my anatomy and people sketches. But they didn't seem to mind that I had more digital stuff! Just show that you can do both and you'll be fine! (And if you can't do digital just draw a lot of traditional they still love to see that)

@@fiyahanimations5103 the covid situation is rough, but once everyone is vaccinated I believe it will be alright. Finding accommodation in Paris is hard 😪 I used Studapart (a housing site) and eventually found a place! Took me some time tho

nooo I didn't, just normal highschool. Yeah I do, draw a lot is one of the most important ones, it seems simple but the key is to show how much you love drawing. So draw a lot!

I should put the traditional first, because Gobelins really like that kind of stuff but if your symbol animation is better then you should always put your best work first! And no you don't have to add backgrounds, you can, but its not a must

I have never done art education before and everything you see in my demoreel is self taught. For the Gobelins Course itself you dont need to know animation to apply but I already wanted to show that I can do it. An art portfolio is enough to apply and animation is not necessary!😁
