Watching this makes me realize that truckers deserve much better food than what’s served at these stops. There has to be a way to provide them with flavorful, healthy meals while also sticking to a budget.
Honestly, I could never be a truck driver. That’s why I get my fix watching you Alex, I work in a laboratory and I love my job but salute to you truck drivers because I know it’s a hard lifestyle. 💯

In the 50's and 60's, before the time of fast food, truck stops were the best place to eat. If you saw trucks at roadside restaurants, you knew it was good food. That time of homestyle cooking is long gone.

When i was a truck driver a few years ago one of my tires popped after a delivery, luckily it was near a small gas station that had a parking lot big enough for trucks so while i waited i went inside to check it out and it had lady making hot food inside. I got some fried chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese, and cornbread. Boy i nearly shed a tear eating that food lol! But i loved truck stops that offered a buffet like setting.
my first year out i gained like 50 pounds, i didnt realize how bad the food was for us, im running local now and home daily so i cook good home cooked meals again and lost the weight. safe travels brother !
This is exactly why my dad never buys food from truck stops anymore. Both of us have gotten sick from the food over the years. Now he eats from fast food places or eats dinner n stuff before he leaves or when he comes home. (He does night shift and is able to come home every morning just fyi) But man back with his old job was so fun going on trips with him and hanging out on the road. Take out was always better on the road with him.

oh god.....in India we have dhaba( a simple form of motel)...where u get daal, rice and chapati....very simple food but i bet u wont fall ill ever...daal covers ur protein section as well....chapati has carbohydrates....i would recommend that if u could then try these thing once...they are fairly easy to cook and will good for ur health
I do doordash food delivery and get called to trucks in truck stops all the time...just download the apps to a few services. the apps always have a place to leave a note for the delivery driver . just say, delivery is to the flying J. white Kenworth in the front row or give him your plate # if lotsa trucks.. whatever... easy peasy and you can have good restaurant food brought to you
I deliver fuel for a living. I see how the employees handle the food when I go in the back to get the veeter root (receipt for the tanks) they handle money, play on the phone and wear no gloves while preparing the food behind the registers.
Yo brother don't drink coffee then eat a suspicious pizza, makes you go sick faster and if you got a chance to go to a filipino store grab 2 packs of yacult its a probiotic milk drink, drink that before you eat something sus makes you feel not crappy afterwards. Stay safe brother❤

You can find good food on the road. Alot of healthy food to. Mostly. Expensive crap food. And Expensive everything. So. Dollar stores. Grocery stores wal mart. Can make affordable good food. Thank God for all the truckers.
Look at your fellow truckers. Don't eat that crap. Most Walmart, especially supercenters, allow you to park in back overnight. Everything is 50% less and you can make your own anything.

Pilot, Flying J & Loves single handedly ruined truck stop food! The mom & pop truck stops back in the day actually had sit down restaurants that served good home cooked food, had clean restrooms. The truck stops in Kentucky, Tennessee & Georgia would get on the cb serval times a day and advertise what the breakfast, lunch & dinner specials were. If they were busy, it wasn’t uncommon to share a table with other drivers and bs about how the day was and where we were going, and anything else you can think of. Times have definitely changed!!
I remember going to these truck stops with my dad as a kid (he's 75 and still driving!). I was thinking watching this vid that it looks terrible compared to the ones we went to with full service restaurant, gift shop, games room, etc.
Another thing I noticed with truck drivers is many of them talk about what they eat but ignore what they drink - which when it isn't coffee is usually sugary sodas or Gatorade type drinks. You guys have to drink more water! A lot more water! Those sugary drinks are usually worse than the food, it's just empty calories! Plus that Cinnabon you had must've been 900 calories alone of pure junk, sugar, frosting, high fructose corn syrup, etc.
I know I can't be a truck driver because I'm not tough enough to live extended periods in those conditions. Truck drivers are some of the most resilient people I know out there. Thanks so much for doing what you do bro. Stay healthy and prosperous 🙏

As someone who used to make a round trip from TX to VA and back every weekend for a few months- you've got to avoid Flying J's pizza. It looks good, but they have a nasty habit of not changing it out. Got sick from it myself a couple of times.
