- As the center of Hurricane Milton passed south of Orlando as a Category 1 storm, rain subsided across areas south. Hurricane-force wind gusts will lag behind the eye and impact the Orlando area between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.

In Orlando, It sounds like a Hurricane now, it started to get stronger 3am - 4am (strongest winds and sounds), no damages, 🙏, the wind sounds woke me up. At 4:40 am the sound is scary.

Melbourne here, so far, no real rain, just a lot of heavy wind. Thank God for sparing us what I was afraid was going to a horrible storm. I've been living here since 1966, and this is the first storm I've been scared of😢😢.

For the last 40 minutes or so the wind has been crazy. I’m in meadow woods/wyndham lakes area and yeah… it’s crazy. Power flickered a couple times but it’s still on thankfully
I'm Norwegian and I'm on holiday in Tampa, I'm disappointed by how weak the wind has been. In Norway we have much stronger winds than this puzzle hurricane Milton. There was a bit of flapping in the palm leaves, then it was quiet
I evacuated Tampa to Georgia with all the extreme warnings. Just spoke to my neighbors, it wasn't that bad at all. I should have stayed home. I won't listen to the drama queens on the news or weather service again.
If it lands as a cat 3 stay if it lands as a cat 5 leave this hurricane wasn't that strong
Tampa got lucky that it shifted at the last second a few more miles north and it would have been a different story.

This is the most bizarre hurricane I've been through! Wind way before land fall on the West Coast showing up on the east Coast. It's been calm through most of the night & now we are supposed to get some heavy winds near Cape Canaveral as the storm leaves the State. It feels manipulated. 🤔

Does anyone's power go out for a minute or two then come back on, mine does that three times so far. I'm grateful it's came back on, just wondering how many are experiencing that

It's the reclosers in the power distribution system - if something (say wind-blown debris) creates a temporary short on the power lines then the breakers will open - but the recloser tries to power the lines up to see if the short has cleared. If it does, then the power is on again, if the short is still present after several attempts then it will lock out until manually reset. This is also why you should always stay away from downed power lines even if they seem dead - the recloser might power them up again to see if the short has cleared.

We were losing power before the hurricane even got near us. I was just watching other people across the street loose power 1 by 1. I finally lost power around 4am when the winds got even stronger

So much hype over this hurricane. In Orlando right now and can barely hear the hurricane over my ceiling fan. Also these winds aren't as bad as the winds you would get out in desert places like New Mexico or Arizona during normal Winter months.

Not true at all. There has been horrible damages, deaths, and people have lost their homes. A lot hasn't been covered yet because they can't go out during this storm.

Some idiot messing with their generator took out power to 17 houses in my neighborhood around 3 pm. Im thankful up to now but its sad that a careless person caused this and not the storm.
You need to report him, it's illegal to cause backwash to the power line, you can electrocute anyone working on the lines. Hope you get power back soon, we went 8 days with Helena......no water either.
