actually the anime, masters, and (i think) the manga confirmed that Sonia actually won most of their battles. Leon's recorded win streak didn't start until his career as champion.

@@deaththeclover how would they even do that? there's no way b2w2 would know if you picked hilda or hilbert or what you named them unless they somehow made it so that the game saves that information from bw to the console itself to then be used in b2w2. i heard they were kind of able to do that in the n64 days with this one boss in what i think was a resident evil game? the boss would make comments on what games and how often you played them by reading information that was stored on the system, which is honestly *very* impressive considering the technology back then. but since they didn't do that, probably bc it wouldn't work or nintendo didn't think to do so, the protagonist of bw is never addressed by name.
that is kind of how they treat him, but i really hope they don't make a game where leon is the protagonist. it would kind of ruin the whole silent protagonist thing game freak's been goin for since red and blue. red from red and blue being the true final boss of gsc works because he doesn't say anything other than "..... ..... .. ........" which works with the silent protagonist role.

I was hoping she would be a secret superboss and have the story be that she was always better than Leon but let him win every time because she wanted to be a professor, not a champion. That would have been so satisfying of a story, then her have some ultimate competitive team of all level 100 pokemon

One of the things I dislike about SWSH is they should have made Sonia an opponent at some point and didn’t. Been wanting a battle style remix of her theme since I first heard it and you NAILED IT.

I really wish that Sw/Sh went into more detail about what kind of trainer Sonia was. All we know is that she has Yamper and that she dropped out of the gym challenge.
Opal’s journal reviewing Sonia’s and Leon’s performance in her Gym reveals that she gives up on things too quickly. And considering how the beginning of the game had Prof. Magnolia nagging Sonia to get out there and do something with her life already, I think it’s safe to say she just didn’t have much drive.
She had the talent and studiousness to know what she was doing (since she held her own in battles against Leon and got all three questions at Opal’s Gym right, while Leon only got one) but didn’t have the drive or any sort of focused goal to aspire to.
So after she quit the Gym Challenge, she probably just spent the next few years bumming around at her grandma’s place helping her with small things for her research as her assistant.
... At least until Magnolia managed to get her into doing research on the Galar region on her own, that is. That’s what pushed her to finally make something of herself.

Okay, a lot of people are like 'She'd have Grass types because she's a Professor and the lab is full of plants', but am I the only one who sees her as an Electric Type trainer? I can easily see her with Luxray, Alolan Raichu, Galvantula, Emolga, Jolteon and a Shiny Boltund as an ace. Her personality and bouncy theme scream high energy, and she even has a Yamper as a lab assistant. This girl has 'Electric Types' written all over her

I wish you could battler sonia in sword and shield. I could imagine her battling you after you defeat leon, where she learns from you that even when the odds are against you, with hard work and trust in your pokemon, you can do anything you heart desires (since leon was undefeated and sonia could never beat him). I would imagine that she still had her original 5 and her yamper just evolved:
*- Bolthund* (don't really need to explain why)
*- Cramorant* (A nice counterpart to Hops Corviknight, plus it has it's own gimick which I can see sonia studying)
*- Hatterene* (I wanted to give her a psychic type and a femenine pokemon, and hatterene fits both roles)
*- Centiskorch* (Gives her a fire water grass core, could of been a way to coutner leon's charizard with flash fire, plus I can see her having one personally)
*- Runerigus* (sonia loves researching galar's history. Runerigus's name alone fit's that theme gives her a regional form from galar)
*-GMAX Venusaur* (perfect counterpart to leon's charizard and I nice pokemon to represent the flowers that surround her area)

Really wish that even if we didn't get a battle theme, we'd get to see more than just Yamper. As in, more of her pokemon running around throughout the lab and such. Unless she made it all the way to the championship with just a Yamper? If so, then good for her, good for her. I was so excited when I saw Sonia I was like "damn I cant wait for her to pull a Kukui and test us for the sword or something" and then she NEVER DID. I fully accept this remix as canon.
