I’m 64 and have always followed football. In all my life I can only remember one young person dying from a sudden heart attack.
That was, sadly, Terry Yorath’s son Daniel in 1994.
Much respect to you Matt for intelligently speaking your mind, from an expat, Nottingham Forest supporter and grandmother in Western Australia.
All common sense but all credit to Matt for using his platform to discuss issues that we are prevented from openly discussing in a reasoned and measured manner.
Respected Matt as a footballer and respect him even more for being prepared to stick his head above the parapet, stand up for what he believes even though he clearly does it at his own financial and prodessional risk 🙌

Matt was the greatest English footballer of the 1990s and he remains the absolute epitome of decency.

He was selected only eight times for England, while someone who toes the line like the useless Butch 'Square Ball' Wilkins got ten times as many. Other countries would have built a team around Le Tiss but not England, no sir.
By the way I am totally unbiased, I couldn't give a flying fart who wins any game of football.

Don't know if you seen what happen in the European Union last week , They asked the CEO of Pfizer to come over and answer questions about their vacancies for CCP VIRUS and he didn't turn up ? He sent some one else who couldn't or wouldn't answer the question that they asked !

He was blessed with natural football skills he made playing football look so easy when in fact the skills he possessed were very hard to practice.
He says he stayed at Southampton out of loyalty good on him not many footballers can use that word these days

This man was a wonderful player and very talented goal scorer, very much underrated.
matt was the finest pundit on sky, they have lost a great pundit and man.. im a west ham fan that saw matt and you could only marvel on how great he was.. .. no offence to anyone who took his chair on sky but matt was and still is head and shoulders above them on how he speaks and his football knowledge.. and good for him for sticking by his beliefs and opinions

One of the skillful players of all time and certainly the best in terms of sheer skill home grown player of his time. this is the first time I have listened to him on the topics discussed and I will investigated further. I admire that he stayed at unfashionable Soton. He did not need to be super fit or to be able to defend or be fast. I loved watching him play even when I witnessed him score some fantastic goals against my team ie Villa.

As Matt said, he was a victim of the route sky decided to go down, and that route has utterly ruined my sky experience.
I used to love nothing more than going to the pub on a Saturday, or the games and have a coupon on, watching matt and the rest of the lads.

MLT - A much better footballer than he was ever really given credit for, for those of you who didn't know that, you'll find plenty of his goals on here somewhere- perhaps who took the easy route by stating at Soton, but he really had magnificent natural talent.
All that said, he was a fantastic pundit and it's strange that Sky chose someone like Merson over Matt...Great, insightful interview and Kudos to him for his honesty.

Top Man, acknowledging Thierry Henry was special, the fact that not only footballers collapsing but spectators have a full time doctor to hand at every Premier League game too as part of the new measures because of stoppages to the game. Boycott Sky Sports and don't pay their ridiculous finance packages. The only way to put a stop to what is going on is to hit them where it hurts..
