    As a kid trying to dip my feet in lawn care I’m glad you told me you’ve never had a problem cause I can’t afford much, and other stuff I would consider are heavier and much more expensive like the echo brand or even the stihl models cause yeah I read the other reviews and they say this thing is trash and that the carburetor is fault off the assembly line

    The BP42 has good performance but they are not built to last. I got about 5 yrs out of it, 10 uses per year probably. Now the engine kicked back and the pull handle snapped off. The guy at the repair shop said most people don’t fix them because the cost to repair is often near the cost to replace. Performance is good for the money but longevity is not great. Don’t know yet if the problem is serious. Will find out soon.

    Man thats awesome! I had my bg55 and all I heard was complaints! But I personally never once had an issue once I learned how to start it correctly

    I bought one and had it for a year and a half. It worked great at first but then it started bogging down. I have replaced the carburetor, fuel lines, filter and spark plug but still have the same issue. I only use True Fuel in my equipment so its not a fuel mixture problem. The new carb came with a pacman tool and I have adjusted it according to Ryobi's tech support specs. It seems that everyone who is having problems with this blower are having the same issues. I have since gone out and bought a Stihl but would like to figure what the issue is. Any suggestions?

    Awsome. Bought one. My prior same brand worked great for 15 years not a back pack.

    Buddy had this, worked great for about 3 months, then needed a carb. 1 year later needed another. He borrowed by Stihl BG55 ans said it blew just as well, if not better. which surprised me. I think Ryobi has build quality issues. Some are great, others aren't.

    It's great when it works, and yes it is cheap. But my problem with my ryobi backpack blower is that it will often stop working when trying to go full throttle. It starts, I even let it warm up, but when trying to go full power it will make a strange sound and eventually stop. This happens almost everytime I try to go full throttle. PLEASE HELP

    Great video man! I am about to get myself another backpack blower. It is one of those no-name brand ones I think but it's $200 so I can't complain and I only need it for like 4 jobs. Funny though it looks almost exactly like the Husqvarna 150BT! Maybe I will just get myself a couple of Husqvarna stickers and slap em on lol ;D

  • @BSMOWaterfowl
    @BSMOWaterfowl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the bad reviews are due to it being a homeowner blower vs a commercial blower. Homeowners don't always get 50:1 fuel ratio correct

    from my experience the back pack is garbage. I had one for 2 month and now it don't start. changed a few parts and still having problems. for 50 bucks more you can just get a sthil hand held with the same power and better quality.

    Great blower if you have experience working on small engines. For a customer with no repair experience its a bad choice

  • @trentmcmahan1013
    @trentmcmahan1013 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have one. Had it for a number of years. It is one of the worst things I've ever purchased. Starts OK when cold, you're lucky if you can get it restarted after it has warmed up. The only way to keep it running is to use the throttle wide open. If you think you're going to use the trigger and variable speeds... that just doesn't happen with mine. AND WHOEVER it was at Ryobi that thought it would be good to use star bit screws should be slapped! If I had it to do over, I'd spent more money and get a tool that I could use without all of the frustrations this one provides.

    • @kirkthebeerslinger
      @kirkthebeerslinger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Torx head screws are in many (small engine) applications today. They are less likely to strip out the head than a Phillips head...if you are going to wrench on your own equipment-buy the right tools to do it...don't complain because you bent your butter knife using it like a screw driver

    I have the same piece of shit and I won't stay running got it last september. I called Ryobi and the said carb adjustment to bring it to one of their service centers they will do it for no cost. Which I did and they wanted to charge me 50$ just to look at the piece of junk. I called them back and got no help from them. I will never by a Ryobi again looking at the Husqvarna 150Bt. my buddy has one and he hardly pulls the cord and it starts no problem. Ryobi will not stand behind their equipment. They blow hard,

    You would think when thousands of people post the same damn issue with the same damn equipment, the manufacturer would FIX THE DAMN THING !! Worked great for a year, now won't start. Ryobi will refer you to a service center, but YOU will pay for the labor even on something that comes with a 3 year warranty. FIX THE DARN ISSUE RYOBI !!!

  • @earlfahnestock1640
    @earlfahnestock1640 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's smart to use Premium gasoline in small engines. Unlike an automobile it will probably cost only a few dollars a year more. If you bought the Ryobi BP42, return it and get a new one next season. They die after a year or so. Ryobi hillbillies will guide you through all the things that could be wrong. That process requires buying part they suggest, waiting for part, installing new part, calling Ryobi when that didn't fix the problem. I went through this 4 step/week long process-At least 5 times: Air filter(1 week), fuel filter(1 week), carb cleaned, carb replaced with a new one, new fuel and air lines installed, new plug. Over 12 hours and ~$100 into this and I give up. Ryobi sucks. Their hillbilly helpers are in the business of getting you to buy all these solutions!! Thet don't get paid to actually help you with your problem. If the Chinese blew leaves, they'd make a better leafblower. They don't-Ryobi BP42 is a planned obsolescence issue. This piece of crap is actually a terrific leaf blower when it works. Show me a homeowner who was able to fix their BP42 and I'll blow your leaves for a season.
    Also...when you're on the phone with them and they ask you for the serial number on your blower, you'll see that the serial number is sleazily hid by an impossible to read font size. DO NOT PULL THE STICKER OFF TO READ THE NUMBER!! It voided my warranty

    • @kirkthebeerslinger
      @kirkthebeerslinger 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny-I got my serial numbers off the large cartons when I bought mine AND registered them online with Ryobi to avoid warranty claims later on...of which I have had none in 6 months...but at $150CAD I could buy a new one every year for 6yrs and still spend less than an over priced Stihl or Echo
