  • Can't believe this is Delhi, India. Even the local Indian friend we went there together with said that it is totally different. So in this vlog we showed you how it is like in Tibetan colony ( Majnu Ka Tilla) 🇮🇳
This is a Tibetan colony in North Delhi, walking through small alley way will lead you to various different handicrafts, shops, restaurant of Tibetan and chinese food and many more, the price is not totally expensive as well. it cost us around 150 Rupees for food

    ☼ M E N T I O N E D :
Majnu-ka-tilla (MT) is a colony in Delhi, India that was established around 1950. Majnu-ka-tilla is officially called New Aruna Nagar Colony, Chungtown, and Samyeling. It is part of North Delhi district and is located at the bank of the Yamuna River near ISBT Kashmiri Gate. The colony had approximately 2,500 residents in 378 family groups as of 2000. Residents have strong ethnic identification: in one survey of young adult recent arrivals from Tibet and young adult children of Tibetan refugees in Majnu-ka-tilla, all identified as 100% Tibetan, nearly all wanted to marry Tibetans, and around 60% said that 80% or more of their friends were Tibetan

Go to NE India, your stereotypical idea about India will evaporate. And Tibetans are closer to India than to China for many reasons - Buddhism, Tantra, script, connection to India from the ancient times. They are not Chinese, Kolkata has a china town, if you want to see a china town, visit Kolkata. India is a nation where ethnic diversity is beyond the western idea of "nation", in order to understand true "Indianness", you will have to travel from Kashmir to TamilNadu and Gujarat to Manipur, before that do not stick to any idea of India you might have gathered from your experience.

Never eat places that the local do not swarm at, hell KFC has struggled to even stay in business in India. Only reason it isn't out of business is because they added vegetarian options.
At least that's what someone told me the first time I arrived in Beijing. For whatever reason a young 20-something Chinese guy, similar to my age, came up to me and told me "Never eat places that the local do not swarm at" followed by "especially never eat pizza here, if you want america go to america district never outside!"
Maybe it was because I had a conversation as I exited the plane with another American, who proudly said he was going to go to Pizza hut and offered me to go with him, and I declined saying I was getting picked up (by a workaway host).
Anyhow, I'm glad I listened because I met up with a friend who was visiting for a week for business and they ordered in pizza, and asked me if I wanted one and I declined, half-lying that I ate "not too long ago" as in 6+ hours before. He got nasty food poisoning for the next 5 days. Luckily he got better on the seventh day in the morning before his plane trip home in the afternoon. Poor lad, good thing his business stuff was in the morning before we met up.

I belong to that region and we take Momos with chilli and tomato chutney and also a bowl of soup.. Momos with mayonnaise is only a Delhi thing u can say.. Bush P Momo is a type of South Asian dumpling, popular across the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayan regions of broader South Asia.[1] Momos are native to Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, North Indian region of Ladakh,[1]Northeast Indian regions of Sikkim, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh,[1] and Darjeeling, West Bengal, India.[1] It is similar to Chinese baozi and jiaozi, Mongolian buuz, Japanese gyoza and Korean mandu, but heavily influenced by cuisine of the Indian subcontinent with Indian spices and herbs.
