  • While investigating fork upgrades I found a rather disturbing problem with my less than 1 year old Surron, the bearings in the steering stem were already beginning to rust. Check out what I found and how to repair as well as some other advice with the Fork.

Having the same issue with my MX4 and also have a moto background. Bel-Ray grease brought back many memories!! Where are you riding at the end of the video? Look's like an awesome spot to check out.

Did you even ride it in the rain? Dump it sideways into a stream? Just curious. A replacement headset should have sealed -2RS bearings. Advice, always re-grease the new bearings, don't trust them to have grease int hem, usually a new bearing has almost no grease in it. Use a urethane bicycle grease like Park Tools grease.

LOL you’re preaching to the choir man. Long time motocross racer! Had to be washing the bike we don’t ride much water here in Utah. The bearings from factory actually had a good amount of grease in them. Lots of people complain about the OEM headset...I think a headset upgrade is the ticket. Haven’t done that yet.

Sometimes too much grease causes the ball bearings to slide rather that spin, not always a good thing.
