- I’m a few months late, but this is my video on the multitool I gave to my dad. I was tired of the usual format of these ‘builds’ of mine, so I wrote a script and two months later here we are. I hope you like it.

That's awesome Erik. I love that a part of the shelf is missing now and is connecting you two. I believe making stuff by ourself is a big part of what is making us human and and a way of expressing who we are. I love the video for this, as it is a way to celebrate that.

Great video. I love both Neistats and Tom Sachs work. As a Dad of three kids, your video spoke to me. I have always been aiming to be the best Dad possible with love and support. I can definitely relate. Starting out, I had all these ideas and I just had to get them out. Cut my teeth. I was single, basically had a part time job. All I had was time and passion.
Now, there just aren't enough hours in the day. The passion remains, but it just takes so much time to work on a video and get it done on top of the life I've cultivated. And with this surprising growth of my channel, I need to up my game, keep improving. At least that's how I feel.
So keep going, keep editing and adding to your arsenal until you're truly proud of each video when it's done. Or good enough for that day. Finish stuff. I'll subscribe and watch your journey. And I promise I'll make something someday soon.

@Tommy Grissel Thank you my dude. And I forgot to mention in my last comment, but you definitely convinced me to look into the XA. I've been too timid to dip my toes in film photography up until now, but that seems more my speed than the other setups I've seen. Although I still romanticise the shit out of using the viewfinder on a dual lens reflex, I don't think medium formats are in the cards for me. And your philosophy you described about capturing the moment and not always fiddling around with exposure and other things for every shot really hit home for me. Good shit!

Wow, my first hater! I feel so special. I probably won't engage with every comment like this going forward, but this deserves a reply.
Yes, I was using several Van-isms to a degree. *That's the point.* When you make a video about something you like, it's fun to pay homage to it stylistically at the same time. As I continue to make videos, I will in fact "steal" different artistic decisions and elements from other people, consciously or subconsciously. That's how making stuff works, and this video just leaned a bit more into Van than my others, so I understand your displeasure.
With that said, I don't consider your comment original either, and I won't lose any sleep over it. Take care.
@@erikdoer brother, I am not a hater just some criticism thats it. You literally have the same fonts as Van uses, same kind of music, same kind of filming editing. I'm just saying put something of yours in that video and you're golden. Not a hate comment, just saying
