Lighting is such a crucial element of filming videos. It can make or break an entire video and first impressions are super important if you want to turn that viewer to a subscriber. I already use the Godox SL 60W and it's amazing given the price. Also note that GVM is 80W and Godox is 60W and looking at the brightness levels, the godox is probably more power efficient.
I bought the SL60 in January 2020 and I used 60cm and 180cm octogon soft box. Beesstt purchase I've ever made period. ( I'm a video/photographer) The Remote is definitely a winning bonus especially when my light is set up quite high or far away!
Gonna be getting the godox for my TH-cam setup. Still new to videography but I think this light will serve me well for years to come! Thanks for the review ❤️

These lights look beautiful but still on the high side. Not bad for under $200. I started with just LED light and I upgrade to Softbox. Probably I will go for this or similar in the future. Thank you for the update, Nolan. Keep it coming.

I've owned both of these lights and they served me well but I recently moved on to the Aputure Amaran 100d. It's $199 for just the light but with significantly more power and brightness than the SL60W or the GVM 80W. The only problem with the 100d right now is availability. Since it is new it's on backorder just about everywhere.
What would you tell now about 100d? I heard there is a bit of blue tint on this light. Right now when Amaran 60d has been released the choice is even harder what to pick ;)

If you are in studio, shooting talking head get the GVM. I have a lantern on mine mounted to a monitor arm ala Caleb Pike. Never turn it on over 15-20%. No noise to speak of. If you are on a very slow lens, you might need to turn it up, but I click it on and turn it up just slightly. The small lantern makes it happen. Good video!
I use 2 GVM lights but more like a background light with RGB I can change the colours to whatever I want. For my face I use 2 soft box studio lights from Mount Dog. I own 3 lights and all 3 cost $150 and even though they are cheaper lights, they work perfectly. With my GVM lights , both those lights cost $350 and can do so many thing but the light is a bit harsh on the face, even with the current diffuser. I am considering getting an additional diffuser but regardless they have good use and are used in all my videos. Only thing I HATE is the GVM app...It doesn't work at all! So I use the dials.
I found out today that the company is not including the remote control anymore 😥. I called Adorama, where I purchased mine, and they said the production company is not including it the remote anymore.

Aputure 100d FTW 🤘 Basically the same price as these but it's brighter, has a pretty decent app, and dims down to 1%. Also it has a very high CRI rating for accurate colors.
All my still photography lights and stands are Godox, so I'd buy the Godox. Plus, I like the remote. I can operate all my speedlights and strobes from the camera with Godox, so I'd like keeping operation with the remote for video.

Hey I love you guys at think media you guys are dope with that being said I have two of the 60s and I saw a great deal on the GVM and decided to get one I love them both but with the smaller size of the GVM and now you could control it with the app so you don’t need the remote and it’s cheaper I find myself using that one more but you are correct both are wonderful lights.
Any recommendations for good budget lighting in the UNITED KINGDOM? Watched all of the lighting reviews on this channel but none of them are available over here!

Yeah, let's compare fan noise of video lights without softboxes on them... This is how we're using them, right. This GVM shuts down in 8 minutes in other reviews even before you put on a softbox.

Godox SL-60W is great! Love Godox products. Also have some softboxes and a LED-panel, the P260C, from Godox.
From my perspective (actual professional photo/video guy), it;s worth the extra cash for an aputure 100d setup. waiting for mine to arrive now

i reviewed these two weeks ago. Nice cheap lights but would have saved and got the nanlite 60 if i was smart. not much more for way better

Since I do street photography and no "studio" stuff I use a lume cube.
