  • This is the bass excerpt from my previous video to demo my modded ‪@FlightUkulele‬ flight mini jb bass.
As mentioned in previous video’s description, though I love the bass playability, I don’t really enjoy the sound. The pickups were too weak for my liking. So I modified the bass and here’re what I did to it.
    1. I shielded the cavity with copper tape. The bass was quite noisy originally.
    2. I changed the pickups to jazz bass rail pups that I bought online for under $30.
    3. I changed all the controls to pre-wired sets with CTS pots I got for around $25. I had to expand the pot holes on the control plate for the CTS pots to fit though.
    4. I changed the bridge to Wilkinson vintage style with threaded saddles, just for the aesthetic.
Probably will do a proper demo for this bass later when I have the time.

I sounds very nice for it's size!
I'd love to have such bass when I have the rehearsal in the evening and I spend the whole day with my bass (it's exhausting with the normal sized/weighted bass)

Sounds great w/ your mods! Was it scary expanding the pot holes?

Not really. It's a simple process. Still, I only did one hole myself. It took me hours just to finish one, because I don't have the proper tool. I ended up asking the metal shop guy at my office to do the rest for me.

Have you gigged with it ?

No, I haven't dared to. Even though, it isn't a bad instrument, it still feels kinda weird to play. I'm not confident to take it out on a gig with it yet.
