    Good video, I received mine last week and am not happy with the engine noise at all, dsg gear change timing seems off and my engine sounds like a lawnmower that’s about to explode

      Yep, the engine sound is a bit weird and sounds almost too sporty for a 1.3 litre engine.

      Not just the engine noise. Pay attention to the driver sides air vet. It rattles. I had a A35 that rattles so bad 3 trips to the dealer they can't fix it. Now I got a CLA 250e same it rattles can't be bothered to ask to fix it I know they can't. That's really annoying for £39k don't expect that.
      Apart from that it's a beautiful car to drive I managed 44 miles on full electric mode.

      @@RayRay-bt1ww I've taken it to the dealership and it wasn't the best experience. I wanted them to check that when in sport mode it utilises the combustion and the electric engine as that is what my understanding is of sport mode...according to the rep I spoke to there was nothing flagged on their diagnostics and that he will check the sport mode setting and what should happen when selected...never heard back. Overall the car itself is beautiful exterior and interior just a shame my car does not seem to have the power I expected. When in comfort mode the electric feels really good but what I was after is the sports mode and some good off the mark performance which seems to be worse than just driving in comfort mode. I had a Mini countryman hybrid before this and let me tell you that was insanely powerful, guess im comparing a higher class car to a entry level experience from Mercedes.

    I wonder if it has a smaller fuel tank because of the space the battery takes up...do you know what the rough petrol range is when fully fuelled?

    • @roadtoelectric978
      @roadtoelectric978  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me it estimates my range somewhere from 330 to 380 miles!

      @@roadtoelectric978 Thanks! That does seem a bit small...is there a hybrid mode which is more efficient? A normal hybrid would expect 600+ miles usually

    I'm thinking that these plug in hybrids are a by-passable technology tbh..

    • @roadtoelectric978
      @roadtoelectric978  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say they are going to serve a purpose for the next 3-4 years and they will then become completely redundant. If you have a reliable charger at home and you have a predictable pattern of usage for your vehicle, you are pretty much ready to make the full jump to pure electric.

      @@roadtoelectric978 currently have an a200 A-Class premium, considered going for a cla a250e , but now not sure given the time scale to 2030/35 . I'd imagine that both petrol/diesel/plugin will all plummet on value on the used car market as we get closer to those dates.....I do have access to of road parking and charging wouldn't be an issue👍

  • @do6213
    @do6213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    But in reality the aclass range is only 29 miles, is that the same for its competitors?

    • @roadtoelectric978
      @roadtoelectric978  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey there,
      The A-class range is 44 miles according to WLTP testing criteria. I’m going to share some info that are my personal observation.
      1. The outside temperature has a dramatic effect on the range of these cars. Just like how our phone’s battery last longer in summer, the car’s battery have an extended range in summer.
      2. Driving on motorways at speeds in excess of 65 mph is a battery killer. However if you are driving in 30-50 mile zones the battery does genuinely last a long time.
      3. In my experience with a mixed driving (motorway and urban) the range I could drive is 34 miles whereas driving in summer and urban areas definitely gives me right about 40-44 miles.
      4. These points are the same across every car manufacturer unless we have a genuine breakthrough in terms of battery technology.

    • @do6213
      @do6213 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roadtoelectric978 that’s interesting because when I’m charging my car it only allows me to charge up to 29 miles.
      What mileage did it let u charge up to?

    • @roadtoelectric978
      @roadtoelectric978  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@do6213 it lets me charge up to 45 miles in summer and 37 miles in winter.
      The range calculator uses different factors to estimate your range. The reason behind having different range figures shown on full charge, comes down to battery conditions (e.g. weather), consumption behaviour (having AC/heater, seat heaters on etc) and driver input.
      For example, my girlfriends on full tank has 300 miles of range whereas if I’m driving it shows 380 miles on the same full tank.

      I do a lot short journey like 4 miles return trip to my local Gym that I would only get around 2.3 mpkw
      Today I took it down motorway speed around 50 to 60 with mixed driving dual carriage way and round town like I said I managed 4.4 mpkw. That's 44 miles on full electric mode. I had my air con on and very loud music to block the rattling air vet.
