Half of the world’s coral reefs have died in the last 30 years. New research in the journal Nature shows that even if people succeed in protecting reefs from pollution and overfishing, global warming remains a deadly threat.
In The Crystal Reef, viewers meet marine scientist Dr. Fio Micheli and see the effects of climate change. With Micheli, viewers explore a rocky reef off the coast of Italy to learn about ocean acidification and the toll that human-produced carbon dioxide is taking on the reef.
The Crystal Reef was produced by Cody Karutz. He worked with Stanford University’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab (VHIL) to create the experience. The Crystal Reef is now offered on Blue Trot and LIFE VR.

The barrier reef Australia. Queensland, Australia has sugar cane, cattle etc and high agriculture. Sediments from the land run into the sea. Fertilisers, nitrates, cattle waste. This gives food for the bottom of the food chain, plankton, algae etc. This allows the crown of thorn starfish to survive at its larvae stage in massive numbers. As they reach adulthood they eat the polyps off the top of the reef. They are in massive quantities and can do massive damage. This is the biggest cause by a massive percentage of the reef damage. The sea is very alkali, not acidic in the least. If there is any slight change in its alkalinity at all it's too slight and would not matter at all. That's it. If you doubt this please check the info it's all avaliable.

Have you got a link to the Crown of Thorns larvae stage being proliferated by land run off ? I have seen the damage to the reef from them at times and seen great numbers of the nasty buggers.

Half of the "Great Barrier Reef" died in only 2 years from warmer seas -- in 2016 and 2017.

What planet are you from. AGW news planet, definitely not in Queensland unless in the blind society.

Might there be a way to take heat from the ocean to use for energy, a little like geothermal heat is taken from beneath the Earth's land surface and used for energy? Maybe ocean heat could be used to power offshore / underwater facilities or even transportation?

So, what can humans do about volcanic vents emitting CO2?

2:00 "making it more acidic"? Making it less alkaline, surely?

This is a misleading comparison. There isn't enough fossil carbon on the planet to increase ocean pH to the level in Ischia where the water is saturated with CO2.
