I grew up in a place where, as a child, the old people spoke Gaelic. It was my grandparents first language.Eastern Canada, destination of exiles from Ireland and Scotland for 200 years and where, in pockets, the old ways lived long after they had been mostly relegated to history in the Old Country. Right into my childhood in the 1970s. They all believed in the Fairies. And no, they were not of the Disney variety. There was a place in a neighbouring province where the old people there said when electricity came, power lines, the Fairies disappeared (when iron was a new technology it was said to banish them also). Not here. They are still here. Just much harder to see with closed minds. Just as the mind will create phantasms, it will also close you off from seeing what you cannot accept. And to perceive them at all you had to be open to begin with. Well, that is pretty much gone. We are so far from perceiving raw unfiltered reality that we are scrambling to develop virtual reality, a totally fake world that we think will be more acceptable. Running from reality. Though the people who took them as a natural part of life are all long dead now, there are a few of us who still understand. They are to be feared in that they are not to be interfered with. They are not to be understood or reasoned with. They are a law unto themselves. I don't know what it means to lose this awareness, but it is certainly easier to not see or believe. Easier, and safer.
The comment about virtual reality is interesting. How do you know we aren't in a reality now that isn't the original? It seems if we play the numbers game we see only one civilization need be sufficiently advanced to create a simulation. We, as humans, are fast approaching this kind of technology even though we still war with one another. Chances we are in "base" reality are slim to none. Perhaps, those fairies are your imagination, which, according to Quantum Mechanics, determines your specific reality.
Then how do people spontaneously get sick if they don't think they're sick? Their belief that they are well should make that reality if your kooky theory was correct. Belief doesn't change things on it's own without tangable actions making those changes take place. Also if they existed can you show me some fairy fossils and bones please and thanks?
Thank you! My great grandmother was an Overly from Ireland. The fairy people were a part of my childhood. Most people just think of Tinkerbelle. The Bonpo people have fairies too. They have a different name. Thank you again. God Bless
The Eight Immortals in Chinese legends seem to have a similar description. In my country of origin, the sidhe and fae, remind me of the origin of some the superstitions some people hold today. Knocking-on-wood is to address your presence to whomever, in a place you are visiting (like a forest) as to not intrude on them. Today it is just a ritual to hope for good luck. People still however, say "excuse me" or "just passing through", especially in a place you have never been before but specifically in a forest or the like. Objects in nature, like rocks or streams, were represented by a spirit or deity (and each object is that deity's name); to not address them or act with formality would bring certain bad luck. Some rural parts in my country also have a respect and a fear of mounds both big and small for similar reasons that to disturb the mound would cause its inhabitants to curse the person. Some expressions and words today, in my language, equivalent to bad words and literally a curse, are related to these superstitions. As if to say you were damned or plagued with a curse of a spirit or deity.
Two Irish labourers were walking in the country looking for work. They came across a sign, "tree fellers wanted"... "ahh Brian! Too bad there's only two of us."

With the interference of religion the changeling became someone to fear. Really a changeling was a gift to the family. A shining being incarnating to be with the family to bring light. For the most part the changeling took on the karma of the family to help them. It still happens in our so called modern world.💚💜💚
@Darren Aitchison children of nephilim. there is only one God, and those of the angels breed. are they accepted by the creator? surely not, they are an abomination. worshiped by the normal humans, idolatry. taking from the natural truth of Gods Creation.
@Darren Aitchison thats your opinion and i respect it but the God of this world is the God of Israel who, with Christ, has welcomed all to salvation before the apocalypse (the revealing) begins. God with you.
What if the reason Celts accepted a "greater God" concept was because all the nature spirits were residing amongst us on Earth, but in the sky was the sun (Son?), who gives life to the majority of nature (such as animals laying in it for warmth [and vitamin D? Amongst who knows what other good stuff we could be getting from it {excluding melanoma and skin cancer}] and plants absorbing it for photosynthesis. So our transition to a Sky God could simply be us evolving and learning of higher powers than who we once thought were the highest powers, and revering who, who we once revered revere. So to break it down, instead of worshipping the druid, we started worshipping who the druid worships. But of course, in all these sorts of discussions, it is only a theory, and I am completely open to discussion. I believe in there being a man like Jesus, and I believe in there being a people like the Sidhe, why can't they both be true?
@@aussiemenace6897 did the sun create us and put breath in our lungs? did the sun program this matrix with its intricacies and its rules? i believe Jesus, the son of GOD, the lamb whose blood covers those who turn to that GOD, is the path to the true GOD. i believe that satan and man in conjunction with each other have taken things natural to humanity and twisted them into three things: worship of man (the self, whether direct or by proxy or by mans 'creations' on earth), worship of 'ancestors' which in essence is of satans kin - as no human soul lives past death until AFTER the apocalypse (the revealing) - meaning it is the spirits and entities of this world tricking men into worship of them (this includes fairies and elemental spirits, demons and lesser entities, as well of course as the ones who claim to be an 'ancestor') and worship directly of the spiritual realms as opposed to the one true GOD. why cant it be true like the bible says? that satan was given the earth, alongside man, until after the apocalypse? literally the only thing that makes sense, accounts for so many angles without needing to reach. i believe all humans can be traced back to noah (as evidenced in ancient china, look up shem and japheth and ham being prominant patriarchal names in CHINA), and that babylon was a true place. i understand what you are saying, and i understand the two sides. i believe it is all one. but there is only one God on high who made the sun, the stars, the wind, the trees. it was not our ancestors, it is not false angels of light that proclaim 'love is love' when love is not love, love is an active action, unconditional... so much has been twisted. the churches do not follow the God of israel, and nor do his people. hence the prophecies.... i hope this will meet you well.
The Elven language is basically gaelic with some finno-ugric thrown in there. And the Elves are basically the Tuatha de Danann, who in turn, are basically the Dragon lineage of Scythians who went by many names, and that are far older than given credit for in mainstream history, but went from Europe to parts of Africa and Asia and were also the "annunaki" of Sumeria and the Vedic gods and all kinds of other characters that have a counterpart in other religions. Humans may or may not have come from Africa originally, but civilization was started by these "gods" (little g) from Europe around the black sea that went to many parts of the world. Tall red heads and blondes are people most in modern times would assume to be stuck in mainly northern Europe but you find stories of these mysterious tall blue/grey/green eyed red heads/blondes in all major ancient civilizations.
If u read the Nag Hammadi it tells u of Murias, & Findias, both are on the layout of the 50 Gates of the Elohim, Murias is the 11th gate Findias is 12 or 13h both are on the run of (10 Gates of The Bau) ..Finn is a male Irish name & he (as the original ) was in Scythia & Egypt he brought Scota the Egyptian princess ( daughter of pharaoh) out of Egypt to Britain
It is my theory that the Tuatha were the remnants of the migration known as the invasions of the Sea Peoples. There were a group of peoples amongst them called the Dannuana. My theory is that the stories of the Fomorians, and the Tuatha de Danaan, and their wars are the memory of the people's who exploited Ireland, and Britain, for the gold and tin necessary to fuel the bronze age empires of the ancient Mediterranean, and Levantine.
One of the most interesting comments that I've read on TH-cam today. I've wondered myself about a connection with the Sea People. Still, I'm afraid that I don't have enough information to draw a conclusion, but it is most interesting to contemplate.
@_egas calybird well, most myths are about how hubris is bad and nature (gods) will punish you for that, kinda like the abrahamic god, unlike those stories of the devil and temptation, so your whole argument is wrong. Ignorance is bad kids.
@_egas calybird also the druid writings you say? They were written by christians with these ideas in mind: keep the stories, show them to a christian audience and turn the pagans into christians. They added the biblical stuff in an attemp at evangelization
The word fairy came into English from French by the C16th. Edmund Spenser popularised it with the French spelling in The Faerie Queene (1590). Spenser used the word for both fairyland and the fairy people. In French, "Faerie" meant fairyland. "LXX VII. Comment le roy Oberon se deuisoit en sa cite de Mommur en Faerie" ‒Huon de Bordeaux An individual fairy is called a "fae". "XXXV. Comment Huon de Bordeaulx passa la mer sur Malabron le fae" ‒Huon de Bordeaux So it couldn't have come from Gaelic, because it would just mean "man", not "fairy man". It would be too much of a stretch to say it's a contraction of "f[ear] [sh]ee". It comes through Latin from the Fates of classical mythology. There are as many, if not more, female fairies, not just male as you would expect if it came from "fear sidhe".
Excellent, I've signed up for both of your classes and so far have completed section one of the mythology class. I am enjoying it very much. I move slowly and wish you had the narrative written so I could read along, like for example you mention , the gae bolg, but don't write it. This is not criticism as I think the course is fabulous, only an observation. I have been taking notes and looking things up as that's my nature. I'm very pleased with the information so far and only viewed this video ahead as I signed up for the weekly email.
if you reconstruct irish pantheon, you'll find something like this: - An Dagda (also known as, Eochaid Ollathair, Eochaid Mac Eirc, Dáire) the Sky Father - Mór Ríoghan (also known as, Eithliu, Bóann, Macha, Ness, Mumhan, Badhbh, Tailtiu, Anu and Danu) was the Mother Goddess. - Conchobar Mac Nessa, becomes the High King of the Gods. - Feargus Mac Róich, God of the Seas, Earth and Fertility. - Cú Roí, (also known as Manannán Mac Lír) God of the Underworld and death. He kidnaps Bláthnat, like Hades did with Persephone. - Nuadha Airgeadlámh (also known as Fraech, Connula son of Cú Chulainn, Neachdain and Ealcmar) a God of Rivers, hunting and hounds. - Cú Chulainn, the God of Thunder and Cattle, son of Conchobar Mac Nessa. Lug was not his father, but a twin. - Lugh Lámhfhada, the God of Arts and the Sun. - Ériu, (also known as Banbha and Fodhla) is the Goddess of Earth and Abundance. - Medhbh (also known as Aoife) a Goddess of Sovereignity and Fertility.
Druids are immortal in the same way as everyone else. 1900 year cycle. Of course this means that all the Druids that were murdered by the Roman's are among us again.
I suspect the Tuatha de Danann were mythological. Early Christians often Christianised their pre-Christian histories, so that deities became human beings. I think the Tuatha de Danann were originally considered to be deities and the monks rebranded them as people.

The surnames such as Tuathal and Tuathchair are still in Ireland today, I know the surname Tuathchair is very rare but a few people hold the surname in Western and North of Ireland today would it be possible that both Tuathchair and Tuathal come from Tuatha De Danann because both surnames have Tuath in them ?
Perhaps, the onset of the tuatha da dannan, coinsides with the introduction of modern man , displacing cro-mangnon, or homo-erectus, as they were perceived as "magical "
This reminds of an old but great book called the last wolf of Ireland and in it the infamous dullahans are strongly mentioned ...have you or will you cover those

You have a dumb mainstream and highly simplistic understanding of Scottish history. The Picts were one tribe among many. There was a wider non-Goidelic speaking Celtic culture outside of just the Picts. "The dalriadans that conquered the Picts were from Ireland." Not every Scottish person is descended directly from Dalriadans, they predominated after invasion in the West. Prove there was a completely successful genocide of that pre-goidelic speaking population in genetic terms. You've not said a single thing that contradicts what I've said. We are not Irish.

Everyone bashes the Irish travelers but I wonder if they descended from the Milesians or Dannans. In the Greek Illiad the Acheans allies were the Daniens and Ramses the second called one group of sea people's the Denyens.
I've recently done an Ancestry DNA test, I got 100% Irish, Scottish and Welsh, first time I did it I didn't believe it, so I took another test and got the same results. I have dark brown hair and brown eyes, some people have told me I might be a milesian gael, I have never heard about milesian in my entire live until people said it to me. I am also related to Travellers through both my mother and fathers side.
When the Milesians (Gaels) arrived from Galicia to Eire, they found my ancestors, the Eireann, already there. My tribe are the Dairine, the House of Daire ('Darius'). Our men have the rare Y-DNA haplogroup I2a2(Isles) and are often blond. We used to provide High Kings of Ireland, but 3000 years of vendetta took their toll.
The Tuatha De Danann probably came to Ireland after the flood and introduced the Druids and Celtic cultures which spread into what is now England, Scotland, Wales and down into France. The Sword of Light is probably Excalibur
Other way around the 10 high kings of Ireland shipped to Egypt after a cataclysmic event in the form of a flood hit Ireland. They brought with them literature, alphabet, law, music, architecture and were responsible for building the Egyptian pyramids. They left that part out of the history books because the same aristocrats that destroyed the Irish are still running the world today.
ys i agree, Thanks St Patrick, for saving us, but still the land does feel as if the fairies are there, there is a respect and something very deep. My grandmother was afraid of the fairies, there are many stories about them, people would sit and talk and play music in the evenings, I think people are looking back to our history as the globalists squeeze tighter and take our land and culture we long for our old ways
Morningstar, St. Patrick would point to the Christ of Christianity. Spiritual feelings are often fleeting and inconsistent. They lead a person in different directions and just end up leaving someone worse off.

A few thousand years ago Europe and America where covered in an ice sheet. At this time, water levels where much lower, and Geological evidence shows us that the ''Mid-Atlantic Ridge'' was exposed, along with a chain of Islands stretching North to Iceland. Also many ancient maps, some of only a few hundred years, depict islands to the West of Ireland which are not there today due to continuous melting ice and rising water levels. I believe these to be the Atlantic Islands of which Plato speaks. As these Islands began to sink beneath the waves at the end of the ice age, their inhabitants, a far more advanced civilization than those more primitive and uneducated on the mainland, began to seek refuge on nearby lands. I believe these where the Tuatha Dé Danann, or as the South Americans called them, the Viracocha. Ancient Egyptians also claimed that their forebears came from Islands in the Western Seas. Almost all civilizations have ancient tales of a God-Like race who came from a sinking Island in the Atlantic. I believe the Thuatha De Danann may be survivors of Atlantis.
The mid Atlantic ridge wasn't exposed, why would you think that? Yes, islands like Iceland and the Azores were larger, but there wasn't any noteworthy landmasses besides them. It's also highly illogical; how would humans have gotten there in large enough numbers to sustain cities? how would they have supported large enough populations to develop such superior technology? Also, the Egyptians believed their ancestors came from up the Nile, not the Atlantic.
killerlork yes it was exposed. Its only 400 feet under water. Water levels rose much higher since the last ice age. They werent iscolated on the island. They travelled the world just like we do today. It doesnt take a genius to hollow out a tree and sit in it. Ancient Irish legends speak of them having moterised boats. McLir, son of Lir, had a motor boat.
I solved the myth of Banshee (living in Ireland ). One evening after midnight i heard it - it really sounds like a bloodcurdling women scream. First I heard it about a mile away - on opposite side of the valley. I taught it was a drunken woman teasing a dog ( it was about a midnight ), thought nothing of it and went to bed. The valley around my house is all forested . I sleep with open windows and next thing, as i was just getting comfortable in bed that scream came to the front of my house. After 5-6 most awful bloodcurdling shrieks I ever heard in my life it went away..... It was difficult to fall asleep afterwards.... Next day I did a little research and found out it is a ........................... B A R N O W L . Mystery solved.
You said they had 4 mythical cities. Well interestingly enough if you use google flood maps and go back around 12,000 years ago when Atlantis is supposed to have been swallowed by the sea. Ireland was 4 islands due to sea levels rising.
They are the fathers of the Sith Sheath or Sidhe. The sword/words of the sheath.. the Sith are their descendants. In star wars, the Sith are demonic fairy lords who fight the Jedi (sons of Jehovah), Jedi in the Bible is Jedidiah.
According to the book The Dragon Legacy by Nicholas de Vere, they were originally believed to be the people of the god Anu, not a goddess. Just what the book says.
There were other Islands to the West of Ireland during the Ice Age. At the end of the Ice Age, when the Ice Sheet began to melt and water levels began to rise, these Islands went under water. Their inhabitants, a far older race of human, who had developed medicine, math and science, while the rest of us were banging rocks together, fled to try and find somewhere to live. Some landed in Ireland, some in North Africa, and others in South America. These where the Tuatha Dé Danann, or the Viracocha. Much like today, we have huge advanced cities, but also we have tribes who live in Jungles. It was like this during the Ice Age too, but we were the tribes in the Jungles while a tall Blonde Race were the ones with Great Cities. Today we are only living in the wake of their Greatness and achievements, and they have long since hybridized with the common races lowering their IQ and Greatness. The Ancient Egyptians, Irish, Indian, Persian, Greek and South American cultures all tell the same tale of this advanced race whos home Island sank beneath the waves at the end of the Ice Age. ᛟ
I see Nazi anthropological propaganda still trying to make its way to the mainstream. I recommend the book Guns, Germs & Steel on the insight of human civilization survival and evolution. I also recommend ‘psychedelics in the ancient world.’ Perspectives psyche of the population was quite different. Many or most are allegorical on the nature of humanity.
Dhanu is called Anu or Anann, the feminine counterpart to the sky god Anu, she is the earth goddess who gives birth to Anu the sky god. She is Gaia, Namma, mother of Ea, existence itself.

She is OUR MOTHER, The Goddess, Who, with our FATHER, The God, Created All Life in Existence!! She resides where We reside, it is an adjacent primary dimension from which we project our consciousness into this simulation to learn and expand our ever yearning quest for knowledge and awareness.in a way it is much like the idea of the movie Avatar- not the reason behind it but the way in which this is done.In this realm, the collectives belief is what shapes it- and so belief is directly connected to reality. If we wish to change our reality, we must start with our “beliefs”. The legends speak of the Tuatha Dé Danann as being defeated but this is not true. For no one can defeat the Tuatha Dé, we are essentially immortal. Our physical bodies in this simulation is not conductive to who we truly are. We are all infinite - all of humankind, and all descended from the Tuatha Dé Danann! However, The Fae are NOT the Tuatha Dé Danann.
I have concluded that the Scots were the royal Scythians who were deposed by incomers and moved west via the Crimea and black sea as part of a migration that accompanied the dawn of the iron age. The became one of the sea peoples and ended up in s spain as part of a general westward movement of the celtic culture
Sounds like a description of people who were members of a highly technologically and scientifically advanced civilization. Possessing flight, directed energy, and life prolonging medical knowledge.
the fact that no primary sources reveal any myth associated with a goddess named danu leads me to believe a great error has snuck in. the various origin stories for the irish and welsh link them with greece and scythia. zeus had a son named dardanus. there is a city named after him and the dardanelle straights bear his name as well. going through the straights brings you into the black sea. crimea on old maps is known as scythia. what if tuatha de danaan is a transcribing or retelling error? what if tuatha de danaan are instead tuatha dardanus? the legends from india say their rishi(having magic powers) came from rus/russia. seems at least plausible.
They were certainly related to the "Greek" Danaoi and The Tribe of Dan. Dardanus was likely named after them or the river goddess. I find this same conundrum with Scythians. Some claim they were named after Isaac. I think it's more likely, or at least just as likely, that he was named after the tribe instead, who according to David Alan Ritchie, originally came from The Isle of Sky.
The Stutterer why not? Its almost obvious unless ive got my timeline wrong. Practically anything with “dan” in its name can be traced back to that specific origin.
@@jkmurphy3 These are GAELIC GOOOOOOOODS. The Túatha Dé Danann is probably a wrong term. Second, Danu, the so called mother goddess is just another name for An Mór Ríoghan, aka Mórrigan. This is not compatible with the tribe of Dan, since the gaelic tribes: Cruithni, Uaithni, Laighin, Éreainn, Briagantas, Coiriaindi, all of them are Gaulish tribes who moved from Gaul and Brittain. these are indo european people, not a semithic culture. When Israel was taken captive around the 8th century, the Gaelic tribes probably already settled in Ireland.
Aos means people, Sídhe means earthen hills/mounds. Who are found in hills and mounds? The dead! It's referring to burial mounds and the bodies or "people" that resided in them, those people being our ancestors. It was to put simply ancestor veneration/worship
Genealogy.com says my last name comes from the ancient tuaths... so i came here. I dont think this video is the same thing though since this is just mythology.
Finally someone who can actually pronounce Irish words properly...
You must be a Caper.
They can certainly cause a great deal of trouble but get them on side and they are most powerful allies
I'm from eastern Canada, too, and I know exactly what you are talking about.
Your Irish accent and pronunciation granted this the perfect seal of authenticity. This was incredibly informative. Great video.
Thank you!
My great grandmother was an Overly from Ireland. The fairy people were a part of my childhood. Most people just think of Tinkerbelle.
The Bonpo people have fairies too.

With the interference of religion the changeling became someone to fear. Really a changeling was a gift to the family. A shining being incarnating to be with the family to bring light. For the most part the changeling took on the karma of the family to help them. It still happens in our so called modern world.💚💜💚
Fascinating. Yes, and usually ends up the hated scapegoat in toxic families and cultures.
Is someone born a changeling or do they have a doppelgänger?

Love this! reminds me of Lord of the Rings. I believe Tolkien based a lot of his writing on Irish mythology
Tolkien said he was somewhat inspired by Celtic myth, but mostly by Germanic (Nordic and Anglo-Saxon), because he was most excited by their stories.

Nice theory!
@_egas calybird also, could you send a link of a recent research that showed that the pagan gods had six fingers and two rows of teeth?
Wow, love it, I feel there's a lot of truth here, thanks for sharing bro. Great to get some info on our ancestry.
The word fairy came into English from French by the C16th. Edmund Spenser popularised it with the French spelling in The Faerie Queene (1590). Spenser used the word for both fairyland and the fairy people.
In French, "Faerie" meant fairyland.
"LXX VII. Comment le roy Oberon se deuisoit en sa cite de Mommur en Faerie"
‒Huon de Bordeaux
An individual fairy is called a "fae".
"XXXV. Comment Huon de Bordeaulx passa la mer sur Malabron le fae"
‒Huon de Bordeaux
So it couldn't have come from Gaelic, because it would just mean "man", not "fairy man". It would be too much of a stretch to say it's a contraction of "f[ear] [sh]ee".
It comes through Latin from the Fates of classical mythology. There are as many, if not more, female fairies, not just male as you would expect if it came from "fear sidhe".
Thank you. It seems it's flipped, as I've often heard, "the Fae" and "a Faerie".
So many things flipped and changed, it's refreshing to reorient.
That was brilliant! Thank you!!
I thought it was really authentic too - no Disney Irish influences here go raibh maith agat :)

- Mór Ríoghan (also known as, Eithliu, Bóann, Macha, Ness, Mumhan, Badhbh, Tailtiu, Anu and Danu) was the Mother Goddess.

You don't know sh!t. You have a dumb mainstream and highly simplistic understanding of Scottish history. The Picts were one tribe among many. There was a wider non-Goidelic speaking Celtic culture outside of just the Picts.
"The dalriadans that conquered the Picts were from Ireland."
Not every Scottish person is descended directly from Dalriadans, they predominated after invasion in the West. Prove there was a completely successful genocide of that pre-goidelic speaking population in genetic terms.

@MICHAEL GOLD It's not "Gails", it's GAELS.

There is a book called Irish wisdom preserved in the bible and pyramids by conor macdari, first published in 1923. Well worth a read.

I find that the deeper one gets into the old spiritual ways, the darker it gets, and it never leads to anything good.
ys i agree, Thanks St Patrick, for saving us, but still the land does feel as if the fairies are there, there is a respect and something very deep.

My Great Grandfather was born in Kildare Ireland, We have an oral tradition that spoke of how Shems descendants first held Ireland, they were a holy and powerful people, they knew All natural medicines and healing properties, they could command the weather and the animals, They went to war with what was called the “Joten Giants” these Giants almost destroyed their civilization, but they were defeated at a great cost, one day these Shemites, built ships and over the next years sailed North, True North to what is described as “Mt Meru”…they never returned to Ireland or to the Known world…These people were gentle and Kind, they taught the “Law” of the Creator to All peoples…I wish they would come back and help us now…Ireland is being destroyed by Forced immigration and all the violent refugees coming in…I pray for my ancestors home land🙌🙌

Not mythical, but these were the Tribe of Dan. Contemporary Christianity would never accept it so corrupted some of the stories.

Whats the name of the song at the end?

However, The Fae are NOT the Tuatha Dé Danann.

the fact that no primary sources reveal any myth associated with a goddess named danu leads me to believe a great error has snuck in.
the various origin stories for the irish and welsh link them with greece and scythia.
zeus had a son named dardanus. there is a city named after him and the dardanelle straights bear his name as well. going through the straights brings you into the black sea. crimea on old maps is known as scythia.

seems at least plausible.
The Tribe of Dan.
