It's still being thought in school and I think it's even class everyone in Ireland has to take in school. Also Gaelic/Irish has risen in popularity over the past decades.
There are also more people out there now who want to learn the old ways and get back to their old pagan roots. I've been studying Irish mythology, the religion of my ancestors for a couple years now, even back then they had a sense of humor.

I think it is worth pointing out that the concept f a Celtic people is a modern idea, applied to various people groups whose ethnolinguistic origin were the same. The reason why it's important to point out this difference is that Celtic peoples spread all across Western and Central Europe, not just the British Isles. The Celts of the Isles were the Insular Celts, as opposed to the Continental Celts, whose mythology and language diverged substantially by the time of the rise of Rome a millennium later. Furthermore, the Insular Celts of the Isles can be divided into the Britons (of Britain) and the Gaels (originally of Ireland, later also of Northwestern Scotland). To put it mildly, the Gaels and the Britons did not like each other. So to see them as the same makes about as much sense as seeing Portugal and Spain as the same. Later on the Gaels invaded Scotland and the Anglo-Saxon invaded England, splitting the Britons into their modern incarnations of Wales and Cornwall (though at the time there were still substantial Britonnic populations up in Northern England and in Western Scotland. My point? This "Celtic" mythology is really just Gaelic mythology.
Anyone interested in the Tuatha de Danann should also research the Tuadhé Anu of Scythia, which connects them to the Anunna gods of the Persian gulf (Anunnaki). Then I highly recommend people go learn about the Finnish Väinämöinen mythology and see what you notice. The Mesoamerican gods can also draw specific parallels to these more northern stories. What I'm getting at is that the lost civilization of the ice age that Graham Hancock and many others allude to, are all hidden in mythology and folklore. We are quite literally talking about caucasians whether its Quetzlcoatl of the Maya, Enki-Ea of Sumer/Babylon, or Fionn Mac Cumail of Ireland, which literally translates to White Stranger. This is our lost history, shrouded in fiction.
My grandad on my mother´s side used to class his grandchildren according to their most prominent tribal characteristics. The broadest brushes were Fir Bolg, Tuatha Dé Danann and Milesian. Although Balor was Lugh´s grandfather no one was ascribed descent from the Fomorians.

Ser Ten of House Goodman Dresden Files isn't the Tuatha Dé Danann, it is Fairy (think along the lines of Shakespeare). The Iron Druid Chronicles is about Druids and the Tuatha Dé Danann Pantheon; as well as the Greek, the Roman, the Norse and even the American Pantheons of gods.
@@SmileItsRome Yeah primarily Dresden ends up dealing with the Fey and Christian mythologies, but he's run across a fair number from others as well. And the Fomor are there too now.
Some in accuracies in this bit the biggest one was Danu cited as Goddess of the Earth. That's not true. Danu was the Earth as a divine being. Danu was not a humanized God. We are talking about a animistic theology where land masses were considered divine beings. Ireland itself is considered a goddess.
I would like to know the author of the video to include it on the citation since I use a lot of the videos from this channel for my mythology class. Thank you

Oh my, JRR Tolkien. This sounds a lot like the Feanorian Exiles who burned their ships after reaching Middle-earth, leaving their cousins behind to tske the more dangerous northern route across the ice.
This feels much less like a story about Gods and much more like real history becoming a myth. In some Irish legends, it almost is as if the Tuatha Dé Danann are a former people, often small in stature who slowly withdraw in the forests and finally die out. Think like the Celtic Irish as Colonizers for whom the withdrawing Tuath become rarer and rarer and slowly dwindle into myth. And perhaps, I hope not, it's to make a Celtic genocide sound mythical. Or it might have been something, much like smallpox who killed so many native Americans, here the Celts brought a disease that almost wiped Tuatha Dé Danann out.

I always enjoy your videos. Yo have a great channel. Thanks!
Given your recent decision re: SCP Uploads, I must say, I'd love to see more in this series.
Lugh would be an interesting video.
Will you do the Elric Saga soon
We can hope!
My grandad on my mother´s side used to class his grandchildren according to their most prominent tribal characteristics. The broadest brushes were Fir Bolg, Tuatha Dé Danann and Milesian. Although Balor was Lugh´s grandfather no one was ascribed descent from the Fomorians.
can u elaborate further? he used to class his grandchildren?
I LOVE lore videos and I’ve been getting into celtic mythology a lot lately, was wondering if there were any recommendations besides the 10 videos that you have in your playlists to learn more about it
There is also a goddess danu in rigveda (ancient indian book) whose descendants are called danavas
I think they were talking about Mari being their Goddess. I kinda get this vibe because the name "The tuatha de danann". And knowing the realtions between the Basque people and the Irish. I think The Tuatha were a anceint tribe of the Danube river.
Great mythology please do more irish mythology if you can
An urban fantasy that makes use of this mythology is The Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne
spudthepug there’s a good bit in the Dresden Files too.
@@AshenDruid Also has a bit of Greek mythos too, with the Valkyrie and Donar Vadderung, who is supposed to be Odin.
@@AshenDruid but I think the Iron Druid Chronicles does a far better job at approaching the different beliefs and histories.
proud to be irish
Keep up the good work, bro
The images in this video are so compelling and beautiful! Who is the artist please?? Great content btw, many thanks to the creator!
Jim Fitzpatrick
THANK YOU I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET INTO CELTIC MYTHOLGY (IRISH IN PARTICULAR) THANK YOUUUU
On some level she manifests as an actual being. There's many levels
I would like to know the author of the video to include it on the citation since I use a lot of the videos from this channel for my mythology class. Thank you
It really makes me angry how much of our history has been wiped out by various violent, authoritarian or totalitarian groups. Like Roman Catholics or the various Islamic empires
Thumbnail reminded me of some epic Conan the Cymmerian shit, had to check it out. Nice choice in that regard!
Since you have started exploring mythologies, I have seen an increase in cancerous comments. Keep up the good work though.

mythologies and other sources. Japanese works actually quite have them even though not much in anime but at least in light novels and mangas tho I can't give some sauce but they do, Japanese writers love reading other mythos and incorporating some of their Indo-Chinese beliefs in the artistic symbolisms and inspirations in their works
Do a Lord of The Rings on the forgotten realm of Arnor please
weren't the celtic god and the norse gods considered cousin or relative ?
I am exploring this mythology. As I believe it served as a model for (Elden Ring)'s
my favourite irish gods are john lennon, paul mccartney, george harrison and ringo starr, followed closey by liam and noel gallagher - irish gods are the best
Ahoy "The Exploring Series" I be here to make a suggestion for a future video. I be watching The Television show known commonly among sailors as "Doctor Who" and there be Monsters within the series that be related to the Cthulhu Mythos.
E.g.
Sea Devils/Deep Ones
Fenric/Hastur the unspeakable
The Great Intelligence/Yog Sothoth
Even Cthulhu Himself appeared in a novelised story. (Merely be putting it out there matey. The choice be yours if ye want to do a "Cthulhu Mythos in Doctor Who" video or not.)
Remember, King Arthur is technically celtic myth, they share similar elements, such as the magical weapons, a recipient that offers mdevine nourishment(The Holy Grail)and a supernatural tree(Merlin Tree). I hope you do a video on welsh mythology too!
Some suggestions for next videos/series: More God Of War and mythology, Japanese Mythology, how dark souls games incorporate mythology into their respective lores, The Witcher mythology.
Gotta wait until the next poll man.
I wanna see the Dark Souls video.
Celtic mythology is excellent but is also married to Scandinavia mythology, two great nations but I dont know which is spookier

so did tthey start out as mortals ? also can they live forever ?
I was expecting more wrath of the druids comments.
when the noldor elfs came to mw the burn there
...
Oh my, JRR Tolkien. This sounds a lot like the Feanorian Exiles who burned their ships after reaching Middle-earth, leaving their cousins behind to tske the more dangerous northern route across the ice.
I also thought nuada and lugh ruled together
Tuatha? I thought that was just a Kingdoms of Amalur thing
Senua from Hellblade is a pict, and the submarine from Full Metal Panic is named Tuatha De Danannm s'about all I've seen.
I actually just grabbed that off game pass. I enjoyed it but I was wondering why they chose Norse mythology.
This is so interesting. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m actually researching and writing about the tuatha de dannan. They are so interesting to me. Any more information you have on them would be greatly appreciated. I can send my email if you do have any more information about them. Or if anyone does please feel free to contact me. I appreciate you all! Blessings 🙏🏼
