Thank you , I know videos like this don't get many views but they are super helpful and needed. Thank you for putting in the effort and time. You did help me.
For birds that grew up without being hand tamed, what is the best way to catch & hold them for nail clipping? Also, it’s wonderful of you to prove that canaries can be hand tamed, because breeders & books often mis-inform first time canary owners, like me, & say “It’s not possible, because they are such small prey birds, so don’t even try”. How can I build trust with my older bird, & still clip his nails?
You can catch them when it's dark (by closing the curtains for example) and then ofcourse clip in light again otherwise you won't see anything haha. The best way by holding them is by letting their back rest in your hand, softly hold the body and hold the feet, never put pressure on them and then all will be well 😄 only clip their nails when it's needed, that way you won't have to catch them that often and the trust will be stronger. They can be pushed back with trust a little bit after catching them, but I think with delicious snacks and giving them some time, they will forgive you 😄 I think breeders don't take enough time to really be with the birds and are more focused on multiplying them 🙈 not all breeders though, but I feel like most only care about the money 🙈
@@LemonBirbs I can see how darkness will make the catch easier - thank you so much for this suggestion! I leave my bird’s door open all day, so he can explore & fly around. Is it better to catch him outside the cage with a net? I’m so sorry that I used to reach inside his cage with a soft towel to catch him in the past, because it always made him frantic. I have always used the hand position that you recommend, & he does not struggle, but he does not warm up to be nuzzled afterwards. I have not intruded on his “safe haven” since I found your utube channel!
I give fresh seeds, fresh veggies (and sometimes fruit) and fresh water everyday 😄 our seeds already contains eggfood, but I like to give some extra during breeding season, moulting and when they are very active 😄 we don't actively breed, we replace our canaries their eggs with fake ones 😄 More on what I feed you can see in on of our previous videos 'how to take care of canaries' 💛
Hi! I really live your canary videos and I wanted to ask you, where do you buy your canary cage and washing stuff? I have a beautiful canary but i feel like it’s cage is too small and it doesn’t have proper space. I want to train him but first i feel like i need to buy him a bigger cage and somewhere to wash. Thank you! 🥰😌
Thank you! Also where do you get your canary toys from? I want to also provide my canary with a variety of toys as right now he only has a plain cage with no wash dish or anything since I didn’t know you had to provide them with these necessities. Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
@@yeh15 no problem! 💛 the toys are also bought in the online shop in my previous comment, but also bought in pet shops close to us 😄 Canaries love toys with small leather or paper strings the most or with beads 💛 and swings is often an all time favourite too 🥰
If they keep them short themselves than it's not necessary to clip their nails 😄 so you're lucky! 😂 some people also use special perches which file the nails, but nothing seems to work on my birds and their nails grow very fast 😂
If it's caused by mites then your birds needs medicines like moxidectin or ivomectin and oil to soften the legs and sufficate the mites (we use petroleum jelly). Best is to contact your vet to check the legs out cuz it can also be caused by something else 😄
@@이지은-s9k3q Hi! Thankyou for watching! I have been very busy with my study (I recently graduated), I am planning on making videos soon again! 😄 Are there certain subjects you would like to hear about? 💛
Dat zou kunnen, maar met Engelse video's bereik ik meer mensen 😄 en mijn doel is om juist zoveel mogelijk mensen te laten inzien dat kanaries meer zijn dan het kleine zingende vogeltje in een kooitje 😄

Hi I have a yellow canary too but he has a patch on his head so he looks like a chip, so I named him chip💕
Aww that's so adorable!
Is it ok even if you don't clip them? One of mine bites and chews on their nails all the time
