I interviewed Noxy, the CEO of Hypixel Studios and the person who oversees all of Hytale development. I got to ask him questions about the game's progress and about whether anything is coming soon.

I’m so excited for the game still, I have hopes that the game will still be awesome and amazing when the game finally releases also, I am hoping that the game will have some sort of a voice feature sort of like Minecraft for those that need help navigating through menus I’m hoping the game will have a feature sort of like that for those that want to play the game that have a disability

I have as soon as they were bought by riot and right after they delayed the game talking about cross platform and stuff. Developing the game cross platform instead of focusing on the PC version as a first is a huge red flag at least for me.
At least they are telling us the issues they are having and trying to fix it before releasing it for like $70 in "early access"

For the community's sake, I really hope this game is a success. They deserve it. I lost interest 2-3 years ago.
That's the biggest problem. It's going to succeed, no question, but so many people like you have just checked out. The hype train has departed and Hypixel seemed determined to do everything they could to not be on it. I worry that sooner or later, entire community will have moved on and if it ever does release, it will just be like "oh yeah, I remember that game." and then they'll go back to playing something else without a second glance.
@@Grayald That's teenagers who can't fathom that time ticks away and they are still young and have a full life in front of them. Having to learn everything in their 20s and then realize at 25 it's a cycle and at 30 hoping shit would slow down. Before you know it you have this game played it a couple hundred hours and are typing the same shit at the next big thing.
@@Grayald the game will have millions of players guaranteed, because every minecraft content creator will play it, and every big variety streamer will play it, thats already millions of eyes on the game, if its good, it becomes a household name and profits in a single week like gta 5 did (well that was two days), if it sucks then no one will play it, thats literally why theyre not releasing on alpha or beta lol, they know first impression is everything
Yeah, they let the fans go "cold", because they're almost not interacting with us. Some creators like our Kweebec Corner keep people interested, but honestly it should have been done by the team instead. At least one tweet per week (with adorable fanart, reveals of small things, maybe funny happenings during development) would be enough to keep the community "warm".

As much as I would LOVE the game to come out as soon a possible, I will wait as long as needed, they’re improving the game and making it better and that is perfectly okay. It’s been some time, but I still have the same hype as when that first trailer dropped. :>

What does a tree grow into? Some kind of Whispy Woods great tree that regained its knowledge? An undead tree that produces skeleton kweebecs? a wood golem?
Wait don't tell me. . , ARE KWEEBECS BABY ENTS?!?!? A Kweebec goes from seed to child to adult kweebec to elder to tree TO TREE PERSON!
Perhaps it will not be this obvious but a lil Kweebec turning into an Ent or giant tree person of some kind would be badass, like maybe the ents all travel to later game places or protect Kweebec villages? OH! Maybe that is how Kweebecs will survive and return in the late game, protected by a mighty oak Kweebec guardian! Imagine a royal Kweebec guard with a log club made of a dead sacred tree to hit enemies with!
ok im increasingly less optimistic the game will be out before late 2024 at the earliest, but wow i am way more excited and hype. Im sure what we’re expecting with the game will be exceeded easily

@@audioLME Why? I think that the game has been looking better and better with every new teaser since 2018, and the immense funding and resources they have means the game has way more chances to succeed rather than fail.
@@audioLME have you made a game? probally not, game develoment takes a very long time, they weren't expecting to get so much hype, so they expanded, then riot bought them, so they went bigger, now they are rewriting the entire game in a different engine, that takes time

It's good to know that the game isn't and hasn't been in development hell and that they have just been adding a lot more to it and optimizing the systems they already put in place. I was getting worried that something was going wrong when they hasn't uploaded a blog post in so long, but it seems like they are very dedicated and just don't want to reveal too much just yet.

I did notice the Riot Launcher changed the wallpaper a while back, and at first I assumed it was a new LoL character, until I stumbled onto a particular Iceberg video.
Hytale isn't on the Riot Games web page and Hypixel Studios isn't mentioned for some reason. That coupled with the lack of news had me a bit worried. I get they're keeping it low and slow, yet it seems a bit odd to have no information on Riot's website about an on-going project this old...
Taking a step back though, the Kweebec on the launcher is a huge heads up.

I’m so glad they are taking time to polish the game and not rush it like so many games today that release completely broken. Some people are upset at how long it has taken and I can understand why but I’d rather wait for a good polished game than have a rushed one that is unfinished.
What are they doing with this game? Actually, wtf are they cooking? Why did they announce it six years before it's earliest possible release? The lack of communication is unacceptable. They have a blog for a reason.

they announced it 6 years ago because they USED to think it would be out in 2021. They have changed plans drastically and their 2018 announcement should be ignored honestly; all that info is probably outdated and the game has evolved and has been built on so much
I understand the frustration more than a lot of people, but they did communicate to us in the last blog post. The actual game won't be out until 2024 or further, it is delayed due to rescripting, they aren't going to release another blog post until they have very substantial info to share (so that they don't rebuild hype for no reason,) and are appearing publicly often to state development is on track.
Because they didn't expect 70 million people to watch the trailer and its not like the game was a kickstarter, so they dont owe you shit in communication. They'll tell us the progress when they're ready to tell us lmfao

5 years of being strung along on breadcrumbs. Honestly, I feel like they really abandoned the community after Riot came into their lives. They've elevated themselves beyond the sphere they came from and no longer consider themselves 'us.' It's a shame, but money and recognition changes people.
I mean we got heaps of info from 2018-2021, we've only had "breadcrumbs" as you put it for 2 years now, and that was because they told us they weren't going to share much until closer to launch, which they estimated in 2021 was still at least 2 years out, and clarified again in 2022 that it was at least 2 years out still. So in reality, they've only really been pushed back around 1 year from their vision they've had since 2021.
As for the Riot stuff, I feel that's love or hate with most people depending on their perspective. For this team, Riot came along, provided support, funded their extended development to meet the overwhelming hype of the trailer, and allowed them to push well into the hundreds of staff members.
@@kweebec I guess you're selectively forgetting the last year before they announced the 3+ year delay on us where they went radio silent while we all still thought it was going to come out in 2021, just for them to drop the bombshell on all of us at the last minute. There's no way they didn't know for a long time that they were starting over, and yet they still let us all wonder and hope for almost a year. You can simp for Noxy all you want, but that was absolutely so wrong of them for a company who "values" their community. Yeah right.
@@PlayfulFruitLPer Not selectively forgetting anything. They mentioned in 2021 that they wouldn't be releasing then and not to get excited. Yes they could have communicated better but they have acknowledged that. They can't divulge every business decision they make the moment they make it, these things need to go through several checks, especially under riot. I'd say just check out the game when it comes out and see if you enjoy it.

@@kwando472 Dunno, I think it's kinda scummy for somebody who branded themselves as putting their community first and as 'being aware where their origins are' to totally go mislead people from 2019-mid 2021. The last year of which they went radio silent apart from 2 post cards, then at the last minute announce it isn't coming out in 2021 and it'll be ANOTHER 3-5 years out. It was a slap in the face, they must have known way before that point they were looking at a rework. You can suck Hytale's gnads if you want, but how they handled the time up to the delay was ABSOLUTELY OBJECTIVELY terrible, sweetie.

Man... i remember being in a classroom looking at my Chromebook and just looking at the webpage for months on end waiting for another blog post... I still want to support the game to this day and try to remind my friends about this "new game" coming in the few years but it seems sadly that even my old Minecraft buds weren't up to supporting the game at all but this community is great and I'm happy to see that people are still talking about the game :) you guys are great keep up the good work 👍

As much as im in support of being patient for the game, bro spoke to the CEO of the game and got absolutely fuck-all concerning the game, information about its progress or anything substantial. But hey! We got to find out that the tree people have another stage! So useful!
i dont even expect it for 2024 now lmao, 2025 or 2026 is my ideal timeline. But god knows that will be pushed to 2030. I've given up looking forward to this game, just find other things to get interested about in the mean time, that's what I've been doing!
seriously, why bother announcing the game 10 years early? this is cyberpunk all over again. And since riot bought them, the priority now is to sell, not a passion project.
I do have to repeat that this was a chance meeting at a gaming event. Noxy was kind enough to take some totally on-the-spot questions and had to be careful what he says. It wasn't something prepared for deeply in advance.

Hytale to me is starting to feel like one of those Skyrim or Fallout modding projects, continuously worked on, no end ever in sight

The fact that nobody left when they announced switching from java to C++ is rather scary. C++ is different to Java and people who wrote Java before probably don't have any idea about the memory management or buffer overflow or pointer problems introduced with it. Yeah it can be faster, but the code is more error prone and major problems are imported with it when people inexperienced with C++ write the software.
And why they didn't choose rust instead of C++ is still a mystery to me.

I gotta say its actually crazy how dedicated the devs are. Serious amounts of love and passion are being put into this game. I remember the massive hype train that followed the launch trailer, how people started getting upset that the game really never seemed to be releasing anytime soon. And it is a shame they are recoding the game, but oh man when it launches. That's gonna be a glorious day, considering the game already looked amazing just hearing the devs are confident its even better now is just mind blowing. But still hats off to the devs who are chugging along even if they dont have a massive hype train to follow behind them anymore. Additionally it seems like Minecraft is really slowing down with the development of content as they have all the side projects now. Im excited for hytales combat and more in depth exploration and mob variety. So even if it takes another 3 years, ill be signing up for any betas or tests that may or may not happen.
Man this game is actually wild, and im still hype for this, i cant wait for the game, my favorite feature might just be the coding aspect (i dont know anything about code but the mods are what spikes me aswell as the biomes)

Something we really want in this game is everything other sandbox blocks games don't give to us. Minecraft nowdays is SOOOOO BORING and limited.

I watched the original trailer in college. Since then, got married, had a kid, bought a house and so much more. Still excitedly waiting for this game. I know it's gonna be crazy when it's finally here.
I see your videos pop into my recommended every once in a while, and every time I watch them it sparks this incredible desire to play this game, if it is as good as I feel it is, I literally cannot contain my excitement, and then I become upset, that I can't play it, that I have to wait probably even more years, but with Riot as the foundation, I'm sure this will come sooner rather than later, this has been a journey, I just hope that the wait is about to end and for the millions of players to pile in in droves.

A new form of adventure
I for sure know If it comes out, it will be a big succes. Can't wait to start playing the game! Regerdless of time I need to wait cuz for me this game is like a dream game
I remember a few years ago i was very frustrated by the long development time of this game. I have so much passion for the project and that can be hard when you have to wait. However as i have grown up i've had a long period now of not playing games, focusing on my own mental and physical health. I think and hope that when this game arrives it will be at the perfect time to start playing games again, for me personally this is perfect. If it's any game that's going to make me want to play again, it's this one. Cheers!

I gave up on this long ago. Given the money they were given they could have had this finished already. Instead they decided to switch scripts and had to do an all new re-write. People can say what they will about Star Citizen, but even in an alpha build it's playable. We just keep seeing the same videos of this trailer. Nothing new.

The fact that theyre going to push it back again is going to cause a lot of frustration. I think its less that its taking so long, but more that they've been repeatedly pushing back release dates
