My daughter is type one diabetic and she is on an insulin pump and monitor. She still keeps an insulin pen with her plus snacks. I know darn well that our daughters aren’t the only ones

Her insulin needs to be refrigerated or in a cooler and needs to be WITH HER not outside of the waterpark far away. This is discrimination and against the ADA law not to mention it's dangerous. What has happened in this country? Some people have forgotten how to be decent humans. Shame on Splash Summit. You've lost my business.

I'd sick the ADA government on them. If explaining is necessary, that is fine. But unless this business caters to the needs of disabled people adequately, then they need to allow the visitors to cater to themselves. This is probably better for the liability insurance anyhow.

I’m thinking the same thing. Bet we don’t have the whole story and it wasn’t about the bag or the insulin but about how much food they were bringing in. That’s what was mentioned was the bag size of food allowed in the park. That is enough for an emergency and people are allowed to go out and back in if they need more.

@@TightyWhiteyTrash have you ever had to watch your child cry while sitting outside eating their food on the ground because they have allergies/intolerances and aren't allowed to eat with the group because of ridiculous policies like this. My celiac child cannot go on field trips to places like this because she cannot eat there as they do not sell gluten free safe foods and as a result is forced to be separated from the group to eat lunch. So she's a child and has to go out front to eat? She clearly cannot go alone, so she has to have a special caregiver go with her and sit with her out front. Now the school or camp organization has to hire additional staff to care for one child who cannot eat lunch with everyone else because of this ridiculousness. This isn't possible for most organizations. The ADA protects for the rights of those with disabilities to be given reasonable accommodations. This is NOT reasonable accommodations. Its discrimination pure and simple.

This is not an ADA concern since the customers have access to the area and they're not trying to apply for a job. If anything, it's the opposite of discrimination to follow a standard for everyone.

@mediocreman2 so you would rather have this child potentially die than have immediate access to her insulin? Insulin NEEDS to stay cold, and in order to do that, it requires a cooler. It does not meet ADA requirements when, in fact, it is a life and death situation. It's needed medical equipment which by extension is a part of her. It's like they denied a service animal. I'm thankful for the parents that they are bringing awareness about a huge misunderstood issue many in the disabled community face every single day. I'm a diabetic with a service animal. I couldn't tell you how many times people have TRIED to deny me access or entrance only to be schooled by the laws.
