Cody Rhodes’ very first appearance on WWE television again needs to be the camera slowly panning out to reveal Cody meticulously super-gluing Triple H’s throne back together
Nah it needs to be camera moving through a dimly lit corridor in locker room as we hear a man crying as it get louder the camera enters a locker room and the crying stops as we see stardust applying the final touches to his face paint........
Crazy how much in contrast Cody has succeeded with the WWE, compared to AEW. I think Tony should definitely be regretting Cody’s departure, seeing how huge Cody has been now. His WM 39 entrance was crazy.
“I don’t believe in boring old tropes like face and heels” he gets boo’d out of the company he founded due to him not taking an obvious heel turn. Good job Cody
The sad thing is that no matter what is done, heel, babyface or even a 'loose cannon', Cody will always be stuck in his own tired and silly trope. And yes, the boos will continue to come. He over- exposed his ambitions and people are clamoring to knock that shit down since he comes across so f'n arrogant IN REAL LIFE. He will find out that he cannot work people with any version of himself or some character dreamt up by WWE creative.
@@Deadxman616 He still was working in affiliation. It it was really about what they did to him, he'd have rejected the offer outright, no matter how much money they threw at him. I'm not mad, he's a pro wrestler. Cody is a large reason AEW exists, so him leaving is very surprising. I hope he didn’t sign without some protections. He needs to come in at a higher level than he left. He needs to be near the top of the card, not in the middle to the bottom of the card.
Yeah. Tony Kahn was flaunting Cody Rhodes around to get interest from potential business partners for AEW. Having the "Rhodes" name gave Tony's venture some credibility. Maybe Tony has not kept up his end of whatever deal they had. Cody might not have gotten to be the creative/business partner he expected. That's my thought on the potential falling out

23:25 "I think Cody is going to be very well paid upper mid-card guy" Fast forwarded 2 years later, Cody wins his second Rumble match in a row and is going to finish his story. What a ride!
Fr say what you can but back to back rumble wins ensures you go from great wrestlers to face of an era. Hbk and Steve Austin did it. That’s it. Winning two makes you a legend outright but back to back in rarified air
Cody is one of those who will be reflected on how he became a star along with Drew, Roman, Lashley, Seth, Cena not saying they were all top of the shop but they all held a sense of dedication especially Lashley and Drew who built themselves back up that can even apply to Cody
Man, I have been waiting for this ever since the news broke. So over the span of 6 years, Cody Rhodes gets fired from WWE, creates a company to rival WWE and becomes Jeff Jarrett 2.0, then returns to WWE 3 years into his company’s run.
Cody is a clown, he was actually on his way to an all time great babyface run after his Jericho program and the start of his MJF feud and then he got that dumbass neck tatt and I swear everything went downhill from there and now he’s going back to WWE
@@vernessalkic1065, Cody helped create AEW when he, Omega, and Jericho did an indy pay-per-view and sold out 10k tickets. Based on the success of that they looked for a backer to form a new company. That’s why they’re all executive vice presidents in AEW. So AEW is partly his company even though he doesn’t have an ownership stake in it.
If he does go back to WWE, I have a feeling Vince would want stardust back over his "dashing" gimmick. In today's woke culture, watch someone complain that Cody is calling people ugly and putting bags on their heads lmao.
Brian said Cody was not wanting to turn heel and maybe that was the booking issues backstage. But maybe it was the other way round? Cody knows more about wrestling than Tony. He probably wanted to go heel but Tony wanted him to stay face.
@@user-sj3lz7pd1n I was thinking the same thing. I think Tony Kahn didn't want to turn him heel because it would be just like the HHH character for the past 15 years. Cody knows better
Brandi is an attractive woman who knows somewhat about the bare bones basics of in-ring work. Vince isn't laughing in her face considering they're already in the "bring back 'legends' to bulk out the roster" part of the women's roster.
Vince McMahon (not Vince Russo aka (to which Corny calls "S@#t Stain"): "This /That's some Great Stuff, Pal !" (then, Vinnie Mac tugs on one of his ears)..
Kenny Omega I think hit it right on the head. Cody's vision for AEW was totally different than his and the Buck's. Which means his vision was different than Tony Kahn's. Cody's writing was on the wall when Khan picked up the contract options on Omega, the Buck's and Jericho but not Cody last year.
Cody has no good moves in the ring, he's boring. He doesn't have 1/16th the talent that Omega or the Bucks have. He's a boring wanna be wrestler from a ancient era of crap boring wrestling. He needs to go.
lmfao y’all eat that shit up as if we didn’t see omega and th bucks constantly throwing shots at wwe from japan prior to cody, or the fact that omega coined the term “e-drone”. all parties were in on it, and now that cody left that talentless hack has been throwing shots. and if it weren’t for cody none of them would be here full time
The most disappointing part of this is that no one got to get their hands on Brandi. Could you imagine the pop if she took a bump on her last day with the company? It would be Dixie Carter going through the table tier.
All the people WWE have reportedly had interest in were all either hired with help of Cody or were specifically Cody guys. MJF, Jade, Wardlow, etc. wouldn’t be shocked if other people Cody looked at like Starks and Hobbs are next on their list of interests.
Lol MJF would never go to WWE, his gimmick doesn’t work in WWE. He’d have to keep everything PG which just doesn’t work. Warlow however I think will make the jump imo
The stipulation that he could never challenge for the world title was what killed Cody in AEW. And that was done because Cody really wanted it (Toney apparently didn’t like the idea). After that point he slowly moved into the Codyverse, where everything he did happened outside of everything else in AEW.
He essentially handicapped himself. His opponents at that point where either talent they wanted to build or new talent that haven't established themselves so they can work a program before going on to bigger things. Turning heel was the obvious answer and trope to put himself at the top of the card. By not doing so, he removed himself from $ feuds like Punk, Danielson, Mox and others. From a business stand point its stupid to not put your biggest draws in feuds vs each other. Too much time spent on building up guys nobody would ever care about. (Ogogo, QT, Nightmare Factory)
That was such a dumb thing to do... Wrestling isn't that important to never book yourself to win a title...We like people that take the business seriously but that is taking it wayyy too seriously
Bingo, the Codyverse was born out of a need to find relevancy. Removing himself from the tittle picture also removes him from the feuds surrounding the title picture. Cody cemented himself in the mid card. Since the mid card title is necessary to boost rising stars, Cody can really only be involved there if he’s a transitional champ being used to enhance younger talent. That’s why we saw the “open challenge and the Ogogo feud. That’s Cody embracing it. After Ogogo Cody is kinda left in limbo, but birth of his child and a smattering of other things are taking place so it’s not noticeable. When Cody was ready to come back and they paired him with Malakai Black for his debut was when things finally came completely off the rails. The fake retirement, the random Brandi appearances, the Glock promo, the suit burning, the table spot with Andrade and finally the Lambert segments. The Codyverse was absolutely a nonsensical, convoluted mess, an amalgamation formed by the pieces/angles in which Cody used every trick he’d ever learned, and a few new ones too, to hold onto his “Thronebreaker”/wrestling revolutionary gimmick. This is the result.
If he would’ve turned heel he could’ve pulled back the world title commitment to expand his character as it would be the bad guy thing to in reneging on the promise you made. I always looked at him with respect for making that commitment but I was always disappointed that he couldn’t be involved in those feuds because I was always a Cody fan for better or worse.
@@murrayroodbaard207 I agree that Cody isn’t main event level. Punk and Bryan are more so than Cody ever will be. I’m simply stating that they aren’t any more of a draw than Cody is/was.
@@ShaneTumminello people have been put off AEW so much by Marko Stunt and the rest of the idiots, that they stopped tuning in. If AEW takes off again they beed to work for it.
Listening this now again after nearly three years and seeing how things played out for Cody, it only makes "good booking" even more important than ever. Cody really had "get off my TV" heat when he left AEW. I remember he would always say he does NOT want to use his Dad's name as a ladder to success and make a name for himself and prove his talent. Well, that's exactly what it took for him to get to main even, using his Dad's name and his dream of trying but never winning the gold in WWF back in the days. He climbed that Rhodes' name ladder with great booking and storytelling, and ended up becoming the biggest babyface in the entire wrestling for over a decade or so.
Cody and Brandi thought their brand was more important than the company. He latched onto the Elite to establish that brand when he first left WWE and it worked until he no longer needed them in his mind. Tony landed CM Punk and Bryan Danielson and realized he has enough star power to where he doesn’t have to deal with Cody’s ego and Brandi trying to be a star at the expense of the show.

I havent finished the whole video yet but to the point of Cody not wanting to turn heel, ive heard a report he knew he may be leaving and didnt want to use up any material and leave a few months later. With his whole "workshoping" thing i could honestly see that being true
Oh, shit! He's too bland for any of that nonsense. This guy's worst-case scenario is: he retires from professional wrestling before his older brother, forfeiting an opportunity to make money as a heel and raises his family.
It’s hilarious how Jim’s show and getting his reactions to shit is what seemingly most people look forward to than the actual supposed “wrestling” shows that are on TV.
True! I only started watching AEW every week early last year since the first few months they began because I wanted to see what Jim was talking about. I was thinking "No way, it can't be THAT bad" but once I started watching again, I saw he was telling the truth 😂
AEW founding/creation was easily the biggest thing that Cody has ever done in wrestling. If it does become legitimate competition to the WWE for the next 10-20 years, he will be remembered as the guy that jumped ship and not a pioneer in US wrestling.
@@hardcase2080 Cody started AEW. Tony Khan and The Elite just rode Cody’s wave, but at the same time Cody was never and will never be THAT guy sad to say.

That’s the part that should’ve given away this being a work. If Cody was really leaving because he lost his power, attempting to acquire ROH would make more sense.
Well think about this. Say youve been at your job for a few years, and you company says, sorry Chris, we can't give you a raise or a promotion. Wouldn't you leave if another company gave you atleast one of those? If he's making significantly more than he is now, why wouldn't he take it?
To this *day* it amazes me that not even Jim and Brian understood that Cody was a heel at the end of his AEW run. "Refusing to turn heel" was his heel gimmick. He's said as much multiple times.
@@alexhobbs1208 exactly. Only a fool would look at what Cody is doing now is still have the same opinion they had about him two years ago when he wasn’t positioned in the right way. WWE did what they was suppose to do with Cody.

What do you think about his heel who thinks /pretends to be a face character ? I really have liked it. That character is someone who wants so desperately to be seen as a hero. That cm punk promo, could he be more arrogant and full of himself. You could feel the rage and jealously, the intense need to be praised and glorified.
The man *literally* refused to turn heel in AEW, which is one of the reasons he got shit canned. He's not going to "cOMe iN aS a HeEl" when he willingly got himself fired from a company *he helped start* because he refuses to turn heel. He isnt going to come in as a heel, he's trying to be The vince style "babyface of the promotion" because cody thinks he deserves it because of who his dad was. Cody is fucking embarrassing to the Rhodes name. Even more than Brandi....
The one thing I keep going back to is all those digs that Cody kept making at Triple H over the last couple of years. I can't help but think that a big part of Cody's decision to return to WWE has to do with Hunter's fall from grace within the company.
All week long I’ve waited for this… I wish Jim had a reality show or at least would post audio and video of him on the phone with a customer service representative for a company 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cody could be the one to get Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, Wardlow, MJF & Sammy Guevara if the WWE wanted to start poaching the solid talent that AEW does have if they wanted to give him a duo job as a wrestler/coach.
That’s probably the biggest reason they’re signing him. They now have a direct pipeline to AEW through Cody. MJF is doing great now feuding with Punk but next time he’s stuck in a dead end feud like Jericho’s he will have Cody in his ear telling him he could do better elsewhere
@@user-sj3lz7pd1n Problem is that THOSE guys are gonna get Punk money. He also could be making a HUGE mistake, maybe we're all over estimating his intelligence and this is something he's going to regret in the long run and he ends up 4/5 years from now doing a KC Shoot about how signing with WWE was the biggest regret of his career.
Yes I agree its Vinces company he can do what he pleases but for you to ignorantly imply that if this run doesn't work out he's gonna have to do KC commentary for money is laughable.
Things that went wrong for Cody in AEW. 1. Neck tattoo 2. Having an entourage of 17 people everytime he made his entrance. 3. Bringing his wife to his workplace. 4. Rhodes to the Top. Long meandering promos. (The US vs UK promo against Anthony Ogogo comes to mind) 5. Trying to do other ventures without solidifying his status as a main event in AEW. The Rock main evented multiple wrestlemania's before he pursued Hollywood

I would’ve loved to have seen him against Adam Page for the world title as a heel but now if he’s coming back to WWE I just hope they’re pushing to try and make this guy somewhat above the midcard. This is the kinda thing that can give either show a shot in the arm after Roman wins every belt in the company and there’s no credible challengers left under 45
The Paul Heyman vs Brock Lesnar isn't anything new either. Brock beat up Heyman several times back when Angle and Cena were there and Eddie was alive.Stone Cold is still the greatest Wrestler next to the Rock . Lesnar is there just for easy money.
@@rejuvinatez347 Lesnar is honestly more credible than ever right now, he single handily made the Elimination Chamber match somewhat decent(Well, him and Theory). I will never in a million years grasp why Cody chose to cling for dear life to this unsalvageable "babyface" run, when he had potential gold sitting in his lap the whole time. At least when Sting refused to go heel during his run in TNA, people still liked the guy, so it could at least be somewhat justified from that standpoint. We could have got corporate heel Cody using his "EVP powers" to go back on his promise to never challenge for the world title, and receiving genuine nuclear heat as a result; instead, he insisted on matching up with all these "up and coming" midcard heels in aimless stop and start programs, only serving to take all their heat for himself, which benefitted absolutely nobody.
You're all getting worked, he will be returning as a corporate heel, under a Turner broadcasting contract, he'll be their man in the company who Tony has no control over, it's gonna be like the reverse of Austin and McMahon
I can't help but wonder if Cody left because of the direction he saw the company was headed. They managed to pull in Punk, Danielson, Cole, etc. etc. but the only time they manage to pull in ratings is when one of those new wrestlers debut.....
Just goes to show what good booking and proper showcasing of talent can do. They took a Cody Rhodes who was being Boo’d out of AEW buildings, to main eventing 2 separate Wrestlemanias and becoming the top champion. A serious testament to the difference in how both companies take a wrestler and accentuate their qualities while hiding the weaknesses.

I've had the feeling for some time that TK had become blinded by avarice with new acquisitions. Someone else said it was like he gets new toys and forgets the old ones. The Bucks, Omega, and Cody had an idea and got TK to fund it, but very quickly it was obviously a "my money, my decisions" situation. Wether they now see him as a main eventer or still a mid carder remains to be seen. He will make himself more money purely on the fact he's the first guy to go from AEW to WWE, assuming it happens of course. The main issue will be how the crowd reacts to him....are they still gonna boo him? Its very interesting to see how this will play out.
Instant mid-carder. First fued is Baron Corbin, not used for a few months then someone like Sami Zayn. That's not even a diss about Cody. Anyone coming from AEW will be instant mid-carder.

@@oCapri why doesn’t it work? He should be influencing his gimmick with 80s flair tapes anyway. Kids got serious potential.
@@comeatmebr0o He can say anything he wants in AEW, WWE will give him a corny script

"Tony doesn't cut anyone, Tony doesn't cut his toenails.." Lmao!
Yeah…sure but the Young Fucks are still on the roster ruining talent they’re afraid of.

I just hope in the future they work out some decent storylines for him, he gets better on the mic(Which he kinda is) and more importantly find somebody who can be on an even playing field and have a decent match with him, instead of constant dominating beatdowns. The only thing I wish Brock would've never done was beat be Taker at WM, but I guess it set him up to be the company man he is now.
@gigistephens4633 cody beat Lesnar twice and all the crybabies in this comment section threw a tantrum over it.......
THIS IS IT!!! The Video we been waiting for. Its Funny Cornette predicted that Cody would be the First EVP to Go months ago as he didn't seem as dedicated to AEW as Omega and the Bucks. If only we could get rid of the Bucks and there Goofball Comedy Next. I guess Dan Lambert won this feud I will miss Brandi trying to act ghetto in her Ridiculous Promos 😂😂😂
Yessssss!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Here We Go!!!
Cornette is like George Carlin. 99% of the time he’s right 100% of the time.
The ultimate soothsayer.
Their*
He's not leaving. He's winning the AEW title. Lol
The big show has shown you can always go back to face after turning heel.
He screwed up a loooooooot of money and ratings being an idiot and not turning heel
Cody isn't a fool, save it for the big show.
You're all getting worked, he will be returning as a corporate heel, under a Turner broadcasting contract, he'll be their man in the company who Tony has no control over, it's gonna be like the reverse of Austin and McMahon
@Why The Hell Was I In Star Trek 6? cm Punk drew the highest buy rate for a non WWE PPV since the 90's
Cody has potential to have a good new run in WWE. I was watching pre stardust Cody… he was decent… If Cody has matured he might be a top guy.
Like McIntyre. Hate him or love him, Cody would instantaneously become one of the most interesting people in the WWE
He sucks, he's always sucked, he'll continue to suck.
he had a good chance to mature during his ROH/NJPW BC run. Didn’t do enough and he had all the opportunity in the world in AEW but he became some sort of tone deaf person a lot of fans who wanna support him turned on him. Me included.
@@newking70 it looks like Cody Rhodes & Jeff Jarrett have similarities.
@@sigmablock Cody hasn't matured, he's done the exact opposite. People don't mature by getting neck tats, for one thing.
Brian has too much of a problem with cody too see the value that cody provided within his time in aew
What value did he have if he isn't there anymore lol
Yea as much as Cody annoyed me sometime, he is the creator of AEW, he became a main eventer and wrestling fans see him as a big deal. And he's the son of Dusty. I would not be shocked to see Vince give him a mega push.
I mean his opinion is based on the last year of Cody which was all bad.
@@foreheadnutz the fact that there's been so much news coverage and rumours around this attests that its a big deal, therefore he was valuable in aew. If nothing else the tnt belt is established with 2 years, however i believe he was much more than that
If he just turned heel none of this would’ve happened. He would’ve been a top guy, he was getting heat every week too.
He wants to be AEW’s Cena
He was getting Go Awsy heat. I love Cody in the ring, but ever since he focused on the Codyverse AEW fans rejected him and to me thats the biggest reason why he left.
the sad thing is, he seemed to think he was babyface Dusty, but without the actually being over. lol
Bar none.
Cody is instantly your #1 heel leap frogging even over MJF.
And I would actually be confident in an AEW show worth watching. Him not turning made me groan because their storytelling stinks
The dude is a baby. Who wanted more money. Always about $$$. U HAVE ENOUGH MONEY! Fck Cody! I hope he turns into Stardust, 5 weeks into his return.
This is gonna be a good one 😎 I was about to watch the undertaker hall of fame one but once I saw this I had to click
Cornnette saying Cody didn’t deserve cm punk money when Cody was the one who started Aew with the elite is one of the stupidest thing Cornett has ever said I’m glad Cody proved hi and every wrong ! Aew wouldn’t exists if it wasn’t for Cody those are the facts! Cm punk moxley danielson Jericho all work for the Company Cody Started !
Now Cody makes more than CM Punk ever did.
This is a take that didn’t age well….Now Cody is the biggest Babyface in the business in the WWE and AEW is struggling
@2:29 Cody brought in Ricky Starks and Hobbs..and also, you can tell at one point when he stop giving a crap (when he realized he wasn’t in the main event title picture). After that, it was a ticking time bomb while he was elevating young wrestlers while also linking AEW to cancer foundations and charity work
He booked himself out of the main event scene very early on.
@@lungfulldrummer8921 was told he wasn’t in TK “main title picture”
@@starshipfame1 it was Cody’s own idea to put the stipulation that he may never challenge for the title into his championship match - which was completely uncalled for and was against TKs wishes.
That just derailed him entirely. What is he fighting for if he’s not ever going to be the champ?
I fully expect Starks and Hobbs to follow Cody to WWE when their seal are up, they've been absolutely wasted in AEW so far.
@@ian0143 Hobbs is in the ladder match on the next PPV so he's not dead yet. I agree about Starks though he's very talented maybe the neck issue has held him back
Said it in a few places, and will say it here. Cody's biggest problem is that he wants to be loved how his dad was, but while doing Ric Flair's character.
if WWE has any sense for business (lol), they will get Rhodes, and then throw a dump truck full of money at the NWA to bring in Aldis, break down that forbidden door, and get set for an epic ride.
Aldis isn't worth a dump truck of money, and he's already stated that someone with alot of influence (most likely Cena) doesn't want him there so it's not happening
@@ned5231 why Cena
@@kanekanekaneable not sure exactly, might have something to do with Mickie James, Aldis hasn't really gone into details but he's pretty certain WWE will never hire him
I'm not Cody's biggest fan, but it makes me sad for Cody (even though I can't believe I'm this) that he goes back to the same soul-crushing system. It's a big defeat.
Weird how this aged
Absolutely brilliant promo work at the end ! Thank you Jim Cornette for the masterclass!
Can't wait to see him chasing the 24/7 title.
This joke is dumb, that will never happen
I hope not !
It may not be the 24/7 title exactly... But they are going to BURY Cody
@@SaunKrystian He is gonna job to Roman for sure
Cody needs to team up with R-Truth and go for the tag titles baby.
You can legitimately question just how committed Cody Rhodes was to AEW
Cody is committed to Cody, period
I mean he's a third of the reason it exists. If it wasn't for him Tony wouldn't be involved.
What is AEW a cult? If he doesn't feel needed why would he stay. Only people that have a legitimate gripe with this are 30 year old neckbeards that have nothing going for them in life.
@@RoomofMima 30 year olds with neck beards ? Wtf does that have to do with anything ?
Are you saying your a 30 year old With a neckbeard
I honestly don't think AEW will miss him. This frees up the 'Cody Segment' from Dynamite every week and also a match every PPV. It's good for the roster.
And if he gets treated like shit in WWE in 6 months its his own fault.
ic champ at best
@@164_hritikbanerjee8 that's very good actually.
The best breakdown of this saga I’ve heard so far. As usual, Corny and Brian made great points, dropped some good jokes and pulled no punches in discussing the shitshow spectacle that has become Cody Rhodes. Well done gentlemen.

Thank you Cody for saving America and having the 1st biracial baby in the history of Atlanta, GA
Finally! Been waiting for this one
Maybe the worst aged hour of Cornette Experience ever.
AEW should also have pushed the talent who took part in the tapings before the pandemic lockdowns a lot more. Instead they're all on Dark or only appear on Vlogs.
The problem with your scenario is that most of the talents before the pandemic were not ready for television. And to act like the Bucks and Omega have been mistreated is laughable at best. All three have been champions and the only reason Omega has been out of the title picture is because he's been gone for injury purposes. In my opinion, Tony needs to focus on CM Punk, Danielson, Moxley, MJF, FTR, Darby, Sammy, Santana/Ortiz, Miro, Black, Red Dragon, Cole, Switchblade, Team Tazz, and a few more people that I'm sure I'm forgetting. All the dark and elevation talent can stay where they are...off tv.

I didn't see him in Japan, I was very tuned to ROH during his time there, and he did a great job as their world champion, and played the heel very well.
You can't argue with the fact that Cody has certainly raised his profile since leaving WWE, but I don't see this as a marquee get.
Bro, also, remember Vince is gonna pick his brain on what he knows about AEW and who to look for. Also also, Vince can clip him at anytime. Cody is expendable maybe even more now because Cody isn't a cure for cancer, he's radiation at best (50/50). The first few months will tell us all about how they will use him should he go there.
They will boo him no matter what. The question is whether or not Cody can pocket his ego and play the heel.
