Would have been an absolutely marvellous trip to go on from Port Augusta to Quorn! I went on the Picchi Ricchi Railway in 1994 from Quorn to Woolshed Flat and return! Well worth doing!😀🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🛤️🏜️⛰️🐪🇦🇺🇦🇫
Yeah, that's what I was referring too. I didn't know as much four months ago as I wasn't a volunteer at the Bassendean rail museum until about a month after that. Thanks for the reply anyway :)
The W class locos never ran on the original line they were built by Beyer Peacock c1950s for West Australian Government Railway or Silverton Railway NSW. Have ridden on it not a bad trip either but at about 20mph it takes a while
Before King David. The first king of Israel was King Saul. "Afghan" is one his grandsons, and one of 12 tribes of Israel, which half of them went to central Asia present day "Afghanistan" some to present day Australia and New Zealand . Nice video, Thanks for sharing :)
What was the sound when she was stopped near the beginning? I know that unmodified W's don't have that chuff chuff sound when standing still. Also what is that thing on the side of the smokebox?
I'm assuming you're referring to the compressor for the Westinghouse air brake? the "chuff chuff" sound is also linked to it I believe, but I may be wrong about that. Western Australia (where the W's were from originally) used vacuum brakes, while the South Australian Railways and Commonwealth Railways both used air brakes.

How frequently do they operate to Port Ausgusta? Because I do like the look of those little narrow gauge locos.
I Still have my purchase of 1 sleeper certificate from about 40 years ago they ran as a fundraiser
