this is the first one of your vids which is actually realistic my level of DIY haha!! Amazing!! Love your vids mate, one of my favourite channels on youtube.
Hello there And thank you for all of your workshops on all of these things, as I am very new to these things. You have given me an appetite for wanting to do many of them for myself as home hobbies for myself seeing as I am not to well physically and doing things at home is a blessing and it is giving me a great lift spiritually too. Again my thanks. Tom Seath, South Australia
This creates great lighting conditions inside a room. There are no shadows, and it feels like you are outside with the sky above! Thanks for this video, great idea! By the way, a super simple alternative is to glue a circular cardboard covered in aluminum foil, on the bottom of the light bulb hanging off the roof. However, it's EXTREMELY important that the bulb is LED, so it doesn't get hot. If it gets hot, it can burn the cardboard.
Thank you so much for the video Matt. Very easy to understand and great ideas. My wife and I really appreciate your taking the time to share your ideas with us. We wish you all the best from Wisconsin, USA!
Me seeing the white keyboard at 4:09 in 2021: "damn, how did you get a Raspberry Pi 400 in 2013?" It is wonderful to see how far your channel has come, going from 1000 to 2.7m subscribers!
I love LED spindles, i swear I have seen tons of projects with these things from lights around the TV, Desk, to making cake pan lights for filmography. They are a versitle product.
Google is your friend for that kind of info ;) USB voltage is always 5v, and .5 amps, so it wouldn't be enough to power even one meter of LED strip. If you're using a desktop, you could use the 12v rail of the PSU, which would power it nicely. The PC would obviously have to be turned on though.
I'd really like to see how you wire this into your home's power with a light switch to control it. Actually, most of the home wiring videos on TH-cam are pretty low quality, so that might be a good niche your channel could serve as well.
I made a version of this a few months ago. I used a length of angle aluminium instead which also works as a heatsink for the led strip. Screwed it to the wall, connected it up to a 12V power brick and it is looking very fine.
Oh how cute how excited yuo were about 1000 subs :D And now we are here, at over 500,000 :D I see it coming, 1,000,000 are incoming, only a question of time ;) Kepp up your awesome professional style ;)
You Brits - so polite. Everybody else shamelessly begging for subscriptions. You just said in the most polite and calming manner - "and maybe subscribe if you like what you see."
Oh Matt, I just discovered you yesterday while I looking for a faux window and boom: the most gorgeous, smart, charming, cute, funny, creative, adventurous man I could ever see...!!! What a delicacy to my eyes and ears... I'm gracefully and platonically in love with you 😍😄 Hugs and kisses from Ecuador 😙😙😙
To prevent overheating you should always install some sort of heat sink material (e.g. aluminium strip) on which to mount the LED particularly if you are using flammable material for the coving as in this case.
Great video on how to make a great light. I even noticed that you're video hints at an even greater light at 4:12, One who lights up the world. Keep Sharing the Light :)
Hi there. Thank you so much for this upload. My friends have a beautiful wide shot phot with lots of warm tones in it but the light near by is a harsh blue and doesn't do it justice! I'm going to try this out for them!
i made some of these using some long plastic "L shaped" strips from B&Q - much easier than using bits of wood, and the white plastic saves painting, and reflects the light quite nicely :)
I just got a warm 5meter led strip for $6/£3.64 off of ebay on an auction, no one else even bid. There are tons of them going for pretty cheap on auctions and not much competition. This was in the US so it might be different in other countires but just wanted to let you guys know.
5-2-2020, just saw this, 1000 subs, awesome mate, where are you now, 2.08m, ok, ok. You grew a little. *picks brick up off the floor and sanitized hands*. Well, Congrats mate, and awesome vid. :D
a cool thing you could do to make this more interesting is to use a RBG strip. the pricing is not much different and gives you color mixing. would be something interesting for creating a mood or certain atmosphere
It's crazy how great your video production was, even at 1,000 subscribers. I always look forward to your excellent content! Keep it up Matt!

Darn it! You've revealed my identity! Now I will have to lie low and not use my spidy powers for a while...

Brother you are amazing, i don't really have to many tools to build things but i love watching your videos! :)
