    Let me know what you think. Which are your favorites? Also the pads I’ve mentioned here are from reputable brands. Of course the worse ones are the knockoffs polishing pads you buy on Amazon.
    Reputable brands: DIY Detail, Lake Country, Buff and Shine, Maxshine, Griots Garage, Oberk, Shinemate, Scholls, Chemical Guys, P&S, Gyeon, Mckees 37, Carpro, 3D

      Thank you Sam! I’m glad you found the helpful. Back when I was looking for the “Best” pads I was in a frenzy of overly spending and thinking I need every size pad as well and every aggression foam pad. I found out over time 90% of the paints I work on can be corrected with a wool pad for cutting heavy defects with heavy cut compound. Then having a medium cut pad for extra cut and glossy finish paired with the right polish.
      For one steps the UroFiber are just second to none but wish they can make it beveled. That’s a staple in the industry.
      Yeah stick to my favorites as I’m assuming you’re not doing project cars for perfection. The ones I’ve mentioned as favorites will do the job exceptionally well. Don’t get me wrong they all do the job mentioned here just for user experience I enjoy what I named more than others.

    For aggressive cutting the Rupes Coarse Wool pads are terrific. They are superior to cutting with hard foam pads. The DIY Detail Gold Waffle pad is good on soft or medium clears. The Rupes yellow foam is anther long time favorite for polishing. The DIY system is user friendly for people working on their own cars that don’t need to do a lot of heavy paint correction.

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I agree with you the coarse wool pads are exceptional. Just they don’t last as long the foam starts delaminating too quickly. I always find the wool pads cut way more than the coarse foam blue or coarse foam pads. Safer on the paint as well.
      Like you said DIY gold waffle great for softer to medium clears and DIY is for the non project cars with heavy correcting. I’m glad you enjoyed the video 💪

    I have come to settle on lake country purple wool for rotary, lake country css foam for rotary and DA, also Shinemate microfiber cutting for DA and shinemate diamond face foam pads for both Rotary and DA. 3D spider cut foam aren't bad they just dont last as long as far as durability

    You're out here doing the lord's work. Thank you for making this video. I've been practicing on a test panel at home and I'm a weekend warrior on my own cars. I already learned what you said about the hard foam. Just go with the 50/50 or microfiber type wool pads instead. Question: Am I able to mix one drop of compound with a AIO on the same pad at the same time or is that a waste?

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you my brother. I think mixing one drop with an AIO is a waste because the solvents and oils of the compound will inhibit the AIO to bond properly and or not bond at all. If you want more cut just use a polish of your choice example.:DIY Gold Standard then wipe off polish residue with ceramic gloss or sealant of your choice to give it slight durability.
      Now you're getting better correction and same longevity of durability like a AIO using the sealant to wipe off the polish.
      Skip to around 12:30 seconds you'll see what I mean th-cam.com/video/Y26g9C6KeAE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4dCOJmGs8gRv3N37

    Yo bro, new here. I’m working on a black Chevy Silverado, 6 months old. I’m told they’re finicky and have medium clear coat hardness. Nothing but swirls and scratches. I tried Optimum White pad with their Hyper Polish. Didn’t do much. Then tried LC Orange pad with TW 1 and done compound. Nothing great. So then I tried the Euro pad with TW 1&Done, which gave me the most correction. So I did the whole truck with it. Then I used TW 1&Done with LC Black Pad over whole truck. Looked good until I got it into the sun. Swirles are gone, but not it has a trillion short scratches everywhere! I guess they’re “tick marks”? I’m disappointed in the scratch removal and not the added mini scratches. Optimum Black waffle pad with Hyper Polish seemed to help a little on the on test section I did before calling it quits for the night. I’m lost. What should I try next? Frustrating after already going around truck twice before realizing this! God Bless!
    Edit: I’m using a G9 polisher at speed 1 to spread and 3-4 to work.

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey bro definitely I know the frustration for sure!!! It’s very hard to finish down. What I suggest you try is speed setting 1 on the rotary and do 3 passes these finicky paints get easily micro marring because of the throw of the polisher. I like rotary between 450-700Rpm. If not try the G9 on the speed you are 3 and believe if or not maybe use a bit of a stiffer pad like the lake country orange and do 2 section passes quickly on speed setting 3. As the soft pad on the DA is what maybe causing the micro marring I would try those to option. Ideally now I finish on the rotary for those finicky GM paints. Do those test spots and bring it out in the sun first.

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Either your finishing set up os too harsh, or isn't aggressive enough.
      It's possible that the 1 & done with the black isn't enough to remove the marring. If that's the case, try the orange pad instead of the black and see if that helps.
      Or
      If the finishing step is too aggressive, you might need a dedicated finishing polish. I find the limitation of some of these multi use pokishes is that they sometimes struggle to both cut super hard, and finish super fine - on some paints. If this is the case, try the Hyper Polish on the black pad.

    Where the hard foam heavy cut pads work and do a great job is on a small rotary like the Flex Kompakt 3" rotary. Thats where those extra stiff foam pads will impress you like the green color diamond face from shinemate. However i do not like it in 6" on a DA polisher just doesn't work right

  • @victoryensured7137
    @victoryensured7137 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Heyy man, I'm gonna nerd out on polishing systems right now, and European ones at that, have you used the following:
    1.Zvizzer polishing system (all kind of pads and polishes - hybrid wool to foam finishers DA - or rotary take your pick) from Germany - amazing system - their wool destroys 🙅‍♂️
    2. Why no Koch chemie love? Maaan I just used their H9.02 compound and it's amazing - god I love this thing - haven't used their pads but still, heard their good
    3.Sonax - dude you NEED to use once in your life their compounds and polishes - I used many times Ultimate cut and perfect finish - superior abrasive technology also from Germany, their pads are meh though
    Also you should try if it's avaliable in your stores two product lines - ADBL and NAT - from my country Poland - the first has some nice chemicals and second great pads, cheers brah!

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've never used Zvizzer. Haven't heard of them actually
      Koch chemie idk I use them here and there as their chemicals but polishes I don't see no real reason to when I have griots garage fcc and TLC which to me are much cheaper if I need a heavy cut compound. As for their polishes I've used them a bit not bad at all. Just doesn't make it a wow factor for me.
      Sonax that's where I started with their cut max and perfect finish. Only thing I don't like about their polishes it's very oily and even after panel wiping it's annoying to remove. One thing I love about perfect finish is the darkening effect pigmentation it gives to any color. Jason Kilmer and his detailing partner has a huge video on TH-cam I watched back in the day where they explained perfect finish and KCX sanding blocks. Also I used sonax polishes and angel wax as my first brands into polishing after the chemical guys BS 😂😂😂

      @@DetailingMadeSimple Sonax Perfect Finish was my first ever polish i used on my own car, was really nice (a little dusty at the end - it's a sign that i overworked it :) ) Still, all viable reasons Soc, glad u liked at least some of my recommendations, Zvizzer is amazing though especially their pads (i use them instead of LC or DIY wool pads cuz of the avalability)wich are trully amazing, and that's interesting as Koch is reasonably priced here in EU compared to lets say griots (almost non existent here) or TLC (also non existent xD) and i like the wipe on them a lot. Still it's cool that you tried them! Cheers bro!

      Glad you enjoyed the content 💪. Yes below I placed the links of where I get my favorite buffing pads. All in all they work fantastically well for 90% of all work. The main difference really is the Maroon Pad from buff and shine. Where it’s great on hard German paints. I will keep that in mind in making a series in terms of which pads to use💪.
      Like I said the main one that I feel is unique is the maroon pad. The rest you can find an equal amongst different brands.
      Like the Yellow Rupes pad a relatively equal are the DIY Waffle Pad, Orang pad from lake country, Orang Pad from Griots Garage, Blue pad from buff and shine, 3D purple pad and so on. They are all roughly the same density type of polishing pads and polish and finish down fantastic.

      Hey Kevin thank you very much I am glad you found this very helpful. Always happy to help! I mentioned the lake country pads I don’t have any more but I am not a fan of their CCS foam pads. Their HDO are great. I haven’t tried their Udos pads though.
      For your suggestion on Audi lightly swirled I will try 2 things first get a polish you enjoy using first. Preferably one that is pad dependent like 3D one, OP Compound, DIY Gold Standard or Oberk Sole. Just because lately German makers have been 50/50 with the hardness of their paint it’s either hard or medium paint.
      Then start of with medium cut pad whichever you have in your arsenal. That’s equivalent to Orange LC pads, Rupes Yellow Pad, Mckees Blue cool wave or Orange pad. Etc. do a test spot and see if it corrected the light swirls. If it did you’re good to go.
      If not I would just swap to a more aggressive pad. The DIY Wool Pad, Rupes Coarse Wool, or Medium Wool even the UroFiber which ever you have in your arsenal.
      Now based on my arsenal what I have I would start with the DIY Gold Standard with DIY Yellow Waffle if that doesn’t cut it, then do a different section with the DIY Wool Pad because it’s finishes down very nicely with the polishes I mentioned above.

The Velcro for shine mate I put it in the same class as buff and shine they make the best hook and loop and the adhesive is top notch. Only 2 pads I used from shine mate was their yellow and red pads

Get the last cut from the last detail or griots garage fast correcting cream and use with the DIY Detail wool pad. Then finish with the gold standard polish and waffle pad. Hey my brother 💪💪. Appreciate the comment and to be honest I am always learning. As for paint polishing after 10 cars or so you start to get a feel of hard vs soft paint. How to finish down and the feedback the paint is giving you. Then from there is repetition. Is pressure needed? Is no pressure needed? Not all vehicles are the same. I can have 10 Lexus vehicles same model and it can be 4 soft paints, 3 medium and 3 hard paints I wouldn't know until i put the pad on the paint.
      As for the pads. Yes that took maybe a year or so to understand and you'll see right away each ability and task they can't tackle. Because not one pad does it all. And to use the amount of pads I've tried are years of experience. 💪💪 hope this helps. In a nutshell the polishing aspect you'll get the hang of it quick. Pads are just trial and error you'll find out which you prefer best.

    I'm new to buffing my car. I want a pad to use to apply wax (waffle, flat-foam, small dimple or microfiber bonnet). Then, I want to know if I can use a pad to remove the wax or do that by hand? Once all the wax is removed, do I then use a wool to dry polish the car?

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Eric. Just saw this comment I apologize for the late reply. Welcome to car polishing/buffing my friend . 💪💪. To apply wax you would want to use a super soft finishing foam pad like. Griots garage black pad, diy detail red waffle pad, rupes white foam pad. Any super soft finishing pad of your choice. I have a video on how to choose the right pad I posted last week. I actually applied wax in the video with a foam pad.
      As for removing the wax it'll have to be with the good old elbow grease and microfiber towels to buff off 💪. That video will answer your question once you arrive there. After that no need for wool pads or anything else. If you're applying wax that'll be the last step of any polishing action.

    Sounds like the coarse foam pads are not good for trying to get rid of stubborn defects. I used orange Griot's cutting foam pad and although it brings some shine i wasn't able to get at the etched bird dropping left overs. I ordered blue wool pads to try w Sonax max cut

      Yeah the wool pads are way better than foam for cutting! Just make sure the etch is not through the clear if it's through the clear there is nothing you can do unfortunately.

      Yes the kit just has 2 inch and 3 inch backing plates with just the different rotary and DA attachments. It's a very powerful unit. In terms of pressure any DA will stall if excess pressure.
      But overall for me it works phenomenal. I barely use any pressure believe it or not when I polish. If I need slight pressure it's maybe 2-3 pounds of pressure. Nothing like the 5-6 pounds of pressure on max speed you swell the paint and heat up the paint to quickly.

    Can you please provide a list or links for all the pads you use and / or recommend. Also, it must work for either Rotary, DA or both.

      If I'm working on hard soft or finicky paint no matter the severity of the defects these are my go to pads to date and pads I recommend
      Hard Paints - Heavy Defects
      DIY detail Wool Pad
      Rupes coarse wool pad
      Thundercut pad from oberk "Rotary"
      Medium to soft paint all three stated above work great
      Then to finish this applies on all paints
      Hard Paint-
      Gold standard waffle pad from diy detail (Bith DA and Rotary)
      Ammo NYC White Waffle Pad (Both DA & Rotary)
      Rupes Yellow Pad
      Lake Country Orange Pad
      3D Purple polishing pad
      For ultra soft finicky paints for flawless finish.
      DIY Red Waffle Pad mainly used with rotary only but can be used with a DA.
      I've tried 3D foam cutting pads I don't like. If you watch through the video you hear me say I don't like foam cutting pads. I just use straight wool or microfiber if need be. Hope this list helps

      Glad to help my brother. The answer is not what you maybe looking for. To be honest I don't know whether a paint is hard or soft unless I do a test spot with say a orange lake country pad or a yellow types of or gold standard waffle pad.
      General rule of thumb yes Ram has soft finicky paints but then you have hard or medium paints on Ram that I have worked on. So I would start with a polishing pad and medium cut polish. If the results and defect removal isn't what your looking for then you may have harder paint. Hope this makes sense

    hey brother I had a ceramic coating job, long story short I used DIY detail wool pad with gold standard and the pad ripped into two. Im assuming a DA is heating up too much. I have shine mate corded long throw DA. What would you recommend to fix that issue because I am burning through pads right now.

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes Saul. To me it sounds the pad was over heated. What speed setting on your DA? And re you using pressure or over working a certain area? These factor will overheat the pad and may cause delamination. I use a pad washer now but before after a panel I would swap out pads so it's always cool

    • @saulcovarrubias9010
      @saulcovarrubias9010 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was going between setting 4 and 3. Because my logic behind that was higher the speed the more cutting power or the fast I’ll remove swirl and scratches from the paint. The wash pad is that the lake country? Cost $150? I was thinking of switching the lubricant on the da to help too?

    • @DetailingMadeSimple
      @DetailingMadeSimple  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@saulcovarrubias9010 yes idk what DA you have but sometimes if da itself gets too hot on its own even at lower speeds that’s a problem . Maybe the grease or lube you need to cool down the friction.
      The pad washer is $150. But if you think about it now it’s 1 pad on a whole car vs 5-6 pads on a whole car. I have a dedicated video on the pad washer take a look at that video very informative. I speak about the pros and cost in the long run.
