  • Sharing my observations from using this propellant powder to handload ammunition for semi-auto pistols and revolvers.
This is my favorite for 40 S&W, 38 Special and 44 Special target loads. I find it most accurate compared to other powders I've used for these calibers. It is great from starting loads up to max. Another benefit I find using it in revolvers is that there is very seldom any left over flakes to interfere with reloads during competition. It also has a low extreme spread when chronographed compared to other powders I have tried in these calibers. It meters very nice through my Dillon powder measure.

According to QuickLOAD, this powder burns slow. I had loaded some 115 grain Speer Gold Dots, and even from a 16" barreled PCC, it only burns 94.39% of the powder. From a 4.1" barrel, only 83.24% is burned. That would be the reason people say there is a lot of muzzle flash. I tried a lot of combinations of bullet weights and calibers and I couldn't find anything I had for which it was ideally suited- 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, and .357 Mag. I said, "Oh, it needs heavier bullets," but still, no.

There's really a dearth of useful information in this vid.

My 9mm recipe delivers +p performance. Please ensure you're not going to fire it from a Taurus Gc.
      1. Hornady HTP 115gn JHP hollow points
      2. 6.5gn Alliant Power Pistol
      3. CCI SM Pistol Primers
      4. OAL 1.96-1.10
Seating depth with 9mm is critical. Too deep and you'll ruin your piece. Not deep enough and you negate power. This recipe will put your round down range at a Lee manual listed 1300fps.

Power Pistol is one of my favorites. It provides the highest velocity with my Tok loads. 1700 fps with 85 grain bullets and 1550 with 100 grain bullets.

I can't find Power Pistol powder. Try reloading it in 9mm, about 6 grains. 115 or 124 loads, flies about 1,280 fps. Awesome load.

Jerry Wings I started out with 6.1 grs and have reduced to 5.6grs. It's HOT and very accurate. I may reduce to 5grs as I want a lighter load. Loading with 115gr Remington fmj. Any suggestions? Would 5grs soften it up some or be too light? Thanks

IM LOOKING FOR THE CLEANEST BURNING PISTOL POWDER.
THE KAHR 380 NEEDS SUPER CLEAN POWDER TO KEEP THE STRIKER AREA FROM GUMMING UP. I LIKE UNIQUE BUT ITS TO DIRTY FOR ME. THANK YOU ANYONE FOR YOUR HELP AND ADVICE

+mynewsong I end up with some unburned powder left in the barrel. I don't load .380, but Power Pistol is probably not what you're looking for.

+mynewsong Power Pistol is reasonably clean near max loads. Try Ramshot Silhouette, its very clean. Also, Hodgdon CFE Pistol. One of the nice things about Ramshot powders is they publish more load data than virtually anyone else. It runs pretty clean. Titegroup is nice too but I find that it doesn't fill up the case as well as other powders.
