i love this idea! i always thought of how cool it’d be if these games had roguelike elements since there are so many soulslike rouglikes. now i want this as an actual game mode

EDIT2: also, I agree that the scaling is CRAZY in the fog gate rando right now.
The most fun Dungeon Crawl config that I've done so far is:
-Item/enemy randomizer
-ALL fog gates included
-0 runes required to fight the final boss
This way what you get is, essentially, a big ass labyrinth where you need to find the exit. It's cool cause you rarely need to think about going back somewhere, unless you find a deadend. You just keep going and going and going until you find the "exit". Plus, it's fun cause it includes caves, catacombs etc., which you rarely see in these rando videos.

I love randomizer boss names so much, although my favourite one that I’ve ever seen was “Necromancer Fire ‘Gary’ Garris”
My favourite is and will always be "Mohg, Knight of the Haligtree"

Quick tip for Godskin duo in randomizers, go for the skinny first, the fat one's rollout is almost impossible to dodge

GGs on the run, I was thinking of recommending this unmodded for another streamer. Well, similar; Adding the randomization and deathless makes it a lot more roguelike themed which is cool. The idea would be that you unlock upgrades every time you beat a boss (maybe only major boss). I was thinking a unique upgrade per major boss, and repetitive stuff for regular bosses.
So maybe every regular boss = 1 level up unlocked, every remembrance boss and shardbearer unlock a mechanic (crafting, various weapons types (1 per major boss, including staves/seals/bows?), buffing spells/AOW, fast travel, torrent, various attack types (start with R1 only, unlock heavy attacks and jumping attacks later), weapon levels, talisman pouches, memory stones, etc. Kinda like the base game rewards you for killing bosses, but this disallows using the open world to just set up a really strong character before fighting stuff.
Wasn't sure how to pace it; if you
pick one upgrade per boss, or
pick multiple upgrades for harder bosses, or
upgrades unlock in order based on the number and type of bosses killed or
unique mechanics are tied to specific bosses based on theme. Radahn would unlock armor, and heavy weapons for example, whereas Gideon unlocks attacking spells. DTS unlocks Torrent, Mohg unlocks status effects, Moose unlocks healing, that kinda thing.
upgrades are randomized like items, etc
Yeah I think there is tons of potential to expand on this idea/go a different route for it; the fog gate rando provides tons of neat opportunities for challenge runs like this

Using the riposte animation to speed up fights was an interesting idea. I like, though can also be a bit jarring sometimes seeing the environment around the riposte suddenly change.

How did this work? Was it room->boss->room, or did you unlock rooms to explore after every boss? Either way I need to try this out myself, I'm always one for boss rushes
It's completely random lol. Sometimes I'd start with a boss fight, sometimes I'd start with a legacy dungeon and it would take a while to even find 1 boss

would it be possible to change the scaling coefficients? like how soldier of godrick is 0 and elden beast is 20, if you wanted an easier run set the scaling from 0-10, if you wanted a harder run set it from 0-30?
I don't think so no. You could just not level up your weapon/character as much to do stuff like that though to make it harder at least lol

I have 800 hours in this game, and beyond the first 50 or so my skills actually havent improved. I've gotten more experience, but never practiced a boss moveset or weapon moveset. Anyone else?
Yeah there's a big difference of putting time into a game casually and putting time into a game where you're actively trying to learn and improve through speedruns and whatnot

I called it a roguelike because It's a randomly generated dungeon crawl each run, as well as some other rules like no dying, which is similar to a roguelike :)

Unfortunately no it does not, I imagine it's way too complicated to get that setup lol. TheFifthMatt (the mod maker) could always add it later, but I imagine he probably won't since it's so complicated

I have an idea for an challange, Every weapon does 0 dmg and dmg can only be done with status effects and bleed is not allowed. spells and Incantations also not allowed neither Weapon Art.
Well that would literally be impossible since Goldfrey and Elden Beast are immune to all statuses lol

Lots and lots of practice/time spent in the game lol (from speedruns, challenge runs, etc.) I have about 1900 hours in Elden Ring as of right now
@@star0chris Thanks, you seem prepared for almost every possible situation lol. Also, do you have a controls setup for instant rolls? I use Steam input and set B to a 'start press'.

@@star0chris damn, I frequently get messed up by the rolling delay. You don't seem to have this problem, but I recommend trying it one time. Thanks.
@@thenodger7607 well rolling does have a few startup frames where you aren't invincible yet, so you do have to anticipate the attack/roll in advanced already. Also I'm probably not gonna mess with my settings like that at all because it would just mess up my tons of hours of muscle memory lol
Failed pivots are actually so disappointing fromsoft should get rid of it already guarding before you pivot helps alot

I used my last bit of mana to use a potential bewitching branch on the summons. Otherwise it would have been much worse to have to deal with the summons, but honestly not that bad since the arena is really big

When you played the Mario scream I got the idea that you should give yourself lives every like 100k runes. Just raise the amount to make it harder if that’s too easy for Elden Chad such as yourself but I think it would have made this much more fun.
At first I was doing this at rune level 1 only, but if I used a cracked twig/had it equipped before I died then I get another life, but that was just a bit too hard/tedious for my liking and so I let myself level by 5 every boss and took away the extra lives thing since it would have been a bit too easy, although I do like that idea and think it fits well with this challenge
I gotta say, I also despise the turn animation. It seems like such a small thing to complain about, but I’ve died so many times solely because of it.

@@star0chris I dont mean this in a hate way at all, but the overuse of cuts, and some are straight into action, no build up or anything, i had to learn from a comment that it wasnt just a boss after boss after boss and that it had normal rooms too (it could have been said in the video and i missed it, but we didnt see much of the rooms) its fastly delivered but its also a bit messy, at least in my opinion.
@@tommyman1047 yeah I generally agree with what you're saying, and the whole showing the overall process more before maybe then jumping into more highlights for successive runs was something I had written down for future fog gate rando stuff, cause yeah it's kinda tricky to edit properly without letting the video be like 3 hours long
@@star0chris I generally like getting attached to the "runs" the streamers are going for, like getting attached to what drops and what the level ups are and stuff. But yeah i can imagine trying to find a balance between what to show and how long it is to be pretty hard, thanks for hearing out the feedback and engaging.
