I would personally put in a 454 with a mild cam, gear it for driving, and keep the original paint so it keeps those great memories while creating new ones. If you paint it a different color it’s not going to be the same car that you had when you grew up

I was yelling at the tv about this....and for that body shop to not know that's how they came from the factory filled with lead ...that chassis looks clean and I hope he don't go filling that seam with weld....it should be lead filled like the factory did it.....

I got a 96 with the Chrysler 318, I plan on rebuilding the motor to see if its worth boosting but it's got a couple of issues, I believe primarily fueling but its just a guess
Good luck with that body roll. You'll need to lower it and stiffen it up
Gavin, before you give up on the cracked engine block, see if it can be repaired. If you keep the engine stock, it may work fine. On the bodywork, your car is cleaner than most so don't get too depressed about it. When it is done, it will look great.

Tell them to undercoat it with por15! Hands down the best undercoating period. My dad bought a 73 firebird in 02 and got rid of it in 13. In 2013 it was still untouched and brand new underneath. It was never restored, never painted, never had any major work done.

someone clearly forgot that the factory leaded the roofs on for the old camaros.
Who specifically? He said it was covered in body filler which would indicate it wasn't factory. Dom said that all the dents were covered in bondo and the fender had already been patched once so it seems pretty obvious that the car was repaired and repainted at some point.
Gavin said it got rear ended and it probably screwed up the roof so they probably chopped the it off and went cheep

@@tncdenney I actually went and watched the videos and it looks like the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in the early 70s. The whole roof was skim coated with bondo which is why the metal was pitted so bad.

Man, the car isn't ruined. Just because it won't be a matching number 327 in there it would still be all original. You don't see cars with 327s in them much anymore, and as for the body it's really in great shape for a 50 something year old car. Those spots that have rusted out are actually very common rust spots. Don't let that get you down, I'm restoring a 66 Chevy C10 and it looked to be in the same shape as your Camaro when I got it, but after working on it I'm going to have to do 5x the body work on my truck than you will on your car.

You can get on the internet and search for a 1967 327 that is close to the month your car was built, and it technically would be numbers matching again. Check the damn engine in person and have a reputable shop check it too if you go that route though. Custom is all good if the motor is kept brand specific.keep it Chevy.
