    Great review,
    I found a 245 made in 2008 with “made in Germany” on the slide unfired. It came with with 6 6 round mags ( 4 non dimpled 245 and two dimpled 220 compact ) and two 8 round mags with the Sig xgrip extensions. I installed the short reset trigger kit and this is my favorite 45 to date which includes my HK USP Expert, CZ 97, Glock 21 and Sig P220ST
    This gun has less recoil with far less muzzle flip than my P220ST with a steel frame !

      Thanks, my friend! Yeah, the P245 is an amazing little gun. I owned a HK45c, a USPc 45, a 4516-2, a full-size P220 and an all-steel Colt Commander .45... the P245 outshoots the all. And has no more recoil than any of them. That's pretty amazing that you experience less flip with the P245 vs. the P220ST. Thanks for the comment!

    Great video!!! I remember one of these in the display case at my LGS back in the day. I asked what model it was and he said it's a P245. Roll ahead many years now I own and love the P220. Was surfing the other night and found a very clean P245 for what I consider and very good price. I went for it and I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. As stated my Browning BDA (P220) and my P6 are two of my favorite rolled slides. This i think will be another great addition to them. Enjoyed the video and enthusiasm with the platform.

      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for the kind words! Yeah, I have a soft spot for the old rolled-slide Sigs. I think I've owned all of them, at one point or another--the P6/P225 and this P245 are the ones I have left (plus 3 P239s and a P229). And congrats on the P245! I think you'll love it. And, as I said in the video, only thing I'd keep in mind are those dimpled mags. They're still floating around on eBay here and there... so... not too hard to find. In any case, thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

    I use to have the hookup on Sigs. I’ve owned 23 of them I believe. This is the only one I regret letting go of. About the best shooting gun I’ve owned.
    But 6 round mags…and it wasn’t that much easier to carry than a Glock 19…so I gave up on it.
    Wish I had kept it though

    • @HipsterTactical

      Wow, dude! And here I thought I was ballin' with a measly 6 Sigs. But I'm with you--the P245 is special. In my hands, it's always had a bit more magic than other Sigs. That said, I can shoot P239s about as well. But still--there's something uniquely cool about the P245's big, bubbly recoil impulse. Thanks so much the comment and the sub!

    One of the best reviews on the P245 I’ve send, I couldn’t tell you why I liked shooting it so much until now. I’ve always shot the compact
    Pistol better than full size but wanted a full size 45 until I shot the p245 and wanted it, learned something new on the magazines info. Worth watching the full video. I would like to know what
    Aftermarket sights you have on it

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot, my friend! I actually had a K9 for a few years. It was a really good gun. 100% reliable. Accurate. About the size of a Glock 43. I sold it mainly because the trigger was lighter than I was expecting for a DAO. I mean, the trigger was excellent, but it felt more like an SAO trigger with some takeup than the "revolver-like" feel I was hoping for. So, I would only carry it in a rigid holster... and I hate rigid holsters :) But it was a damn nice gun. I'd kinda like to get my hands on a T9, just because they're freakin' cool... but those are sooo rare. Kahr did a run of T9s in '20 or '21. I should have grabbed one then. In any case... thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

    • @fcb6288
      @fcb6288 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HipsterTactical I understand your considerations about the trigger! I shoot Kahrs really well. Triggers are smooth, consistent, and predictable. I also like the rolling break they have (I tend to setup glocks the same way as far as the break goes). I also only feel comfortable with a rigid holster for kahrs (and most striker fired pistols with no active safeties).
      I wonder if the slightly longer NY style K9 triggers would suit you better. I believe at some point in the early 2000s all standard kahrs started shipping with the shorter Elite trigger. Should be about 1/8 of an inch shorter travel than the original k9 trigger. Weight is the same if I recall correctly.
      The T9s are indeed very cool!
      thanks again for the cool content!

      I totally believe it. The P245 is plush-shooting little cannon. As far as holsters... I'd think a P245 should fit in just about any P220 holster. I usually carry in soft/generic holsters, so it's a non-issue. But, for instance, I have a Galco Miami Classic Shoulder holster that fits all of my P2XX Sigs. Thanks for the comment!

    @Lutz101 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Not sure why you would go for a 6+1 P245 over a lighter 10+1 G30S if there was a 10 shot mag restriction. If you want something slimmer the 6+1 G36 is great. Both accept the heavier NY 1 trigger spring and LTT Striker Control Device so are safe to carry. The Glocks are also flatter so better suited to concealed carry, and easy to find as they are much more popular and are still being manufactured. The only SIG I would buy is the P225 for use with heavy winter gloves as it has a huge trigger guard (only 0.2" higher than the P245 - 5.2" vs. 5")

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The reason why is because of how the gun shoots. For me, capacity and weight are not the only metrics that matter; as I explain in the video, the P245 is magic in terms of feel and shot placement. Plus, the Glock 30 has a much thicker slide than a classic Sig (except for maybe a legacy P229). The Glock 36 is pretty close, though, in terms of slide width. I will say the G30 and G36 impressed me in terms of how they shot; much better than a G19, in my experience. But the P245 is still on another level. In my opinion, of course. Thanks!

    • @Lutz101
      @Lutz101 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@HipsterTactical The G30 and G30SF have a fat slide whereas the G30S has the thinner/lighter slide used on the G36 (25.5mm vs 28.5mm). I prefer the feel of the G30S grip over the thinner G36 grip but prefer the later for concealed carry as it is thinner and noticeably lighter loaded. I prefer both their grips to the one on the G19 which is just a chopped G17 grip so my hand feels like it's slipping off. That said, 9mm pistols are more reliable than .45 ACP pistols (the 9mm round is smaller, lighter, and has a tapered case so is inherently more feed reliable while the spent case is easier to extract) so are better for defensive use IMO.
      I love the P225 as it's also great for cold weather use with heavy gloves. Higher capacity pistols like the P229 have smaller trigger guards and fatter grips so are not as well suited to use with heavy gloves. The only other defensive handgun I like is the 9mm LCR which is great for IWB and jacket / vest / nightgown pocket carry. I used to like big .357 Mag revolvers for bear defense, but what good are they if you are wearing heavy gloves when charged by a bear? A deep penetrating 9mm bullet will reliably penetrate a bear's skull, like the hard cast flat nose 147gr. bullets used in loads from Underwood Ammo and Buffalo Bore.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Lutz101 I missed that you mentioned the G30S. True. It has the thinner slide. But, I think the Sig's slide would no thicker... if not still thinner. Either way, if you haven't tried one of the .45 P2XX Sigs... they're great. And, obviously, the P245 is my fave. Never really considered the trigger guard, but it doesn't seem small on the .45 Sigs.

    I received an email alert the other day from a subscribed firearms company and they had one Police Turn-in, very clean. I personally have never heard about this pistol, although a fan of the 220 series pistols and I own other metal framed SIGs (232, 239, 227, 228). I immediately just clicked and bought it, now I'm waiting and doing research, backwards approach I know but I knew I liked it as soon as I saw it! I love my HK45's, hopefully more comfortable to carry than my 45C. I prefer Unicorn guns and I think this just might be the ticket.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I've done it "backwards" too. If you don't like a gun, you can always sell it. But... I can't imagine you won't like the P245. I had a HK45c and a USP45c myself (between P245s). To me, the P245 shoots and conceals better. It's just a more natural feel in terms of shooting and handling (in my opinion). My only advice is just try to source some "dimple" mags (sometimes they're known as "The P220 Compact Mags"). They're often available on eBay. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you love the P245!

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn good question. If I had to pick a "big-bore" P239 (i.e., .40 or .357) or a P245... tough decision. I actually thought of doing a video on this very question. In my mind, a .40/.357 P239 and a P245 kind a fill the same niche: reasonably compact carry guns in hard-hitting calibers with low capacity. To me, the 9mm P239 fills a different niche. They're both incredibly accurate--it probably comes down to which one fits your hand better. Though, I personally get little more of an "X-factor" in terms of intuitive shot placement with the P245. But I can shoot equally tight groups with both a P239 and a P245. The slide on the P245 is actually less heavy/bulky. Recoil is... different on both; but not light, on either gun. In terms of reliability, both are... though I'd probably put my money on the P239 to run in adverse conditions--plus, you get the machined slide, which is probably more durable in the long run. They're both awesome. It really comes down to personal preference.

      Yeah, Hogue's Rosewood grips ain't cheap. But they're really solid... buy once cry once, as they say. I personally didn't like DAK; it has two reset points, and it gives you a significantly lighter trigger pull if you use the second reset point.... but, to me, it breaks too early in the stroke so it has a ton of overtravel. I found it harder to control than a "normal" Sig DA. Though your mileage may vary.

      Hmm. That’s interesting. Are you looking at a 9mm P239, by chance? That’s definitely different than what you use in the P245. That said, there may have been a move toward spring standardization between .40/.357 P239s / SP2022s & P245s. I remember the factory P245 springs being blue… but those went away, and the “Sig endorsed” spring for the P245 became the same black spring used on the .40/.357 guns. Thanks for the comment!

    I'm recently into all metal pistols, (92X RDO Compact, P938 Legion) I'm currently looking at P220 Legion but I'm trying to decide between the 45ACP & .10mm, of course the 10mm is all steel, while the 45ACP has a aluminum frame. I also currently have a P320 X-Ten, which I like (no issues or malfunctions in 500 rounds) the ammo prices are about the same but I see less 10mm. I may trade the X-Ten but I have about 800 rounds of ammo, 500 defensive. My use profile is home defense/range.
    Is the Legion worth the price, sould I just keep the X-Ten and get one of the 45's?

      @HipsterTactical  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Man! I wish could offer more context... I've never owned a P320 or a Legion. But I'll say this: maybe the more "pertinent" question is whether you want DA/SA / hammer-fired vs. striker fired. For me, part of the draw with old-school Sigs is the DA/SA system. Though they do make P220 Legions in SAO, I believe. I'll also say the older Sigs come from a different era of quality and consistency in terms of manufacturing. Most of the small parts are machined steel and everything was made in-house, in Germany or the USA. An old P220 or a P245 is just... something special... that will probably never exist again. Anyway, hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

    Sadly I bought this last night . My 220 German non proof marked American assembled now is sad the attention the 245 is getting .

      I kinda miss my P220--mine was a non-proofed/American assembled one like yours. I'll probably own another one, at some point. But the P245/4506-1 dichotomy serves my big bore needs well, for now. Thanks for the comment!

      @@HipsterTactical just got a 226 DAK blue box . Mint condition and 3 mag for 6. The disregard for the DAK was good for my wallet . Basically a double action that if you short stroke it will still fire with a heavier shorter pull in case you didn’t mean to. Ah Germans over engineering. It’s the smoothest da though . Side by side the DAK is better the the first pull of any my da sa first pull. For long volley though it is more work . Always a pro and con . But a mint German frame New Hampshire upper DAK for 6 is really a deal. Maybe disrespectful but none the less a deal .

    I still don't know why the p245 didn't do better on the market 😒 😕? It had a following with people but not better than that? It was that way for me with the Beretta 92. That was my 1st gun. And I did the Sig Armerors course back in 2005. Once people shoot the P245 they really like it. 👍

      Yeah, man. It's one of the best kept secrets in the Sig lineup. I tend to think it kinda showed up at the crossroads of change at Sig Sauer. It started using the stamped slides at a time when Sig was transitioning to milled slides... and probably looking to economize their lineup, overall. All the proprietary parts on the P245 probably made them go back to something closer to the P220. At least that's my theory. Thanks for the comment!

    Good stuff, interestingly enough I’ve recently gotten my 239 back (long story) and I really like this gun. I’m aware of all the negatives by todays standards but it shots like a dream (I’ve got a 220 and a 226) it’s heavy, low capacity blah blah blah I don’t need that many shots as it shots as well as my 226 (more it shots as well as I do) regardless I like it, I trust if I do my part it’ll do it’s part every time

      Yeah--that's my take on the P239. It shoots incredibly well, regardless of its size and capacity. And... it just happens to be small. Which is awesome. Thanks so much for the comment and for watching!

      Ohhh… that’s a tough one. One brand? I think the Sig P2xx pistols offer the best range of pistols to every niche. So, if I had to stick to one brand… German Sigs. Though I prefer a Beretta 92 to a P226, one to one. Just one Sig??? It’s either the P239 or the P245. Two of my most favorite guns. Thanks, man! I’m gonna review my classic Sig P225/P6 sometime this spring!
