- In this tutorial, I will show you how to fix unknown GPU problem or error in adobe photoshop. I have tested it with Photoshop 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and all of them worked perfectly well.
I've been in this mess for a very long time and finally, I came out with these solutions that worked for me and i hope it will work for you too.

they got pre 2016 gpu mode since 2023 but it doesn't help a bit. Adobe better fix it without forcing users to upgrade everything whenever they choose to update their software this way.

Slick! Thanks! Turned on Rotate Canvas AND Oil Paint! Only goes to show Adobe could fix the issues, they just won't. They did finally add Rotate Canvas to Illustrator though, which is WONDERFUL!

And now I can't increase or decrease system brightness..😢
@@GodswillUsen-ze4ck Yes the moment you disable your graphic driver it restrict you from controlling the screen brightness. It's normal

Thank you so much! I had this problem after the latest update on Photoshop, I guess because they just added an automatic GPU compatibility check. I updated drivers to the latest version and it stayed. Weirdly enough, the performance didn't change at all, that's why I guess this might have been the case even before the update. Fortunately, a google search recommended your video. I was a bit worried that the files you provided might contain viruses (silly me), but everything went fine. The second fix worked for me personally.

Help me . Before disabling driver two options were working and 2 were not . After disabling the driver , two which were not working started working and other two stoped working. And all four errors are not fixing at the same time help me please. My Photoshop is 2023 , driver is intel R hd graphics 4000 .
I'm using Intel graphics 3000 and i have 2 different version of Photoshop installed. The 2020 & 2023.

This fully enabled Photoshop (Device Manager), but my XPPen 24 Pro monitor went blank. Apparently it only recognizes my AMD Graphics Card. Photoshop doesn't and requires Windows drivers to work fully. Just wonderful.

Press CTRL K to open preference window and reset the app to default settings then restart the PC.

Edit : GPU issue got fixed, but new issue arised. Photoshop lagging very much after I restarted the system now the whole system lags. Com surrogate is using a lot of RAM. Any fix?

From my understanding, the file is a virtual machine and it doesn't do well with handling graphics. It will work mostly on basic mode. Not sure what I lose. I have no idea how to fix this. Its a brand new build, it should work. I'll check the bios settings tomorrow see if there is anything in there. The only thing I do know is - its a wide common problem, since cs3 to present. Where it will randomly work. I've tried almost everything I can think of.
How does disabling the video adapter help? I need that for whole computer?
You only disable it whenever you want to use Photoshop. That's it's

I have Nvidia Quadro 2000 /C2D e8400 .. it was working fine with photoshop 2020. After I installed a new windows I have this problem:
detected graphic processor (Show nothing)
But Use Graphic Processor is checked
Can't open option like scrubby zoom because of this problem

Ok. Update your Nvidia graphics driver from their website and Navigate to the Nvidia control panel and select Photoshop and change "use recommended settings to "High Performance " and Restart your PC.
When I disable graphic card (intel hd 4000) it shows graphic card in preferences, but when i switch on graphic card it is gray again. To make the problem worse, it all worked for me, but I changed something in the settings and suddenly it stopped working...
Do you mean you changed something in the preferences tab of Adobe Photoshop and it stopped working?
Yes. I reset settings.. and after that problem with graphic card start to apear.

well this helped me add the OpenGL there, but when i disabled the display adapter and restarted PC, it remained disabled and fucked up my PC screens... i use two monitors, both different size and different brand and after restarting pc, the main big and wide screen was now low quality and in 4:3 format like the smaller monitor and both were acting like one duplicated desktop.... and photoshop? Still having performance GPU grayed out... :/ what now...

Tried everything here. The only thing that worked for me was downgrading Photoshop few versions back. It is surely Adobe's glitch and I am seriously pissed off. I also was stupid enough to contact Adobe support, only to watch for hours, how some guy mindlessly uninstalling / reinstalling the same Nvidia drivers for several hours. I am seriously considering quitting Adobe.

Mind does not say open GL disabled mine says open gl true but then when you scroll down a little further it says unknown device but yet it says AMD FirePro V5900 as the device but then it also says unknown
Close the Program first then disable the driver from device manager list. Refresh the PC and open the program. Go to Performance and check "Use Graphic Processor" . That's it, I hope it helps!
@@BrightPhotoshopTutorials I did that but then it disables my the cards for other applications I need it to work for everything I don't need to disable my graphics card just for one program and when I do that the fans spin at top speed it won't allow me to regulate the speed any more
