    For anyone looking for a note, at the end clip, his snare is tuned to a C# ;)

    I tightened up my bottom head on my snare and it sounded amazing. Huge help in stopping the snares resonating when other drums are being hit or when the guitar is playing. I would recommend having a slightly tighter bottom head compared to the batter head

    Nice snare sound. You had way more snare sound that I would usually go for but once it was miked up it sounded killer. I'm gonna try that.

    Hello, Krimh! Thank you for the great videos! I wanted to thank you especially for this one because I have been reading conflicting information about snare tuning. I was following the advice of some people that said everything must be cranked just up until the point of choking. When I tried that, there was very little tone and it sounded lifeless and thin. I agree with you that you lose fatness that way. So... for those drummers that like a high pitched, cutting tone, it's better to use a smaller diameter snare like a 12" or even a 10" tuned medium or medium-high. That's my opinion, of course!

    You can go a bit higher on the wires. For some types of music I like the wires to the point they would choke even with the slightest turn. Then back of a tiny bit. Nice Video!

    Anyone knows which mic he's using for the snare drum? Sounds very natural. astounding video anyway!

    • @recordednowhere
      @recordednowhere 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure it's a beta57. I think it's interesting he's not pointing it at the head at all but rather has it parallel to the head. This probably helps with the more natural and open sound, because less proximity effect from the head. (Totally guessing, and assuming it's the only mic we hear)

  • @recordednowhere

    (not a drummer) but the electric drill thing got me thinking... Why don't more drummers use torque keys? Wouldn't that be a quicker and more accurate way to tune your heads once you figured out the tension per head?

    • @shahfacekillah
      @shahfacekillah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Evans makes a torque key. I use it. It's great but more of a guideline. Tension at the rim and tension at the center are usually different so you so have to "fine tune"

    Hey whatsup krimh! Do you tune the snare and the other drums after a while playing? I guess they stretch after time playing and loose the sound you tuned them to.
