Rachel grew up with extremely religious parents who adopted black kids and refused to teach them their true history. She started teaching them (in secret) about themselves as black people and exposed them to black history art & culture. She fell in love with blackness through teaching her adopted siblings.
They were abused by the parents and molested by her real brother.
She’s so extreme in her actions because of how extreme her parents were with their religion. She wanted to distance herself from her real family and found a home in black culture.
There’s a difference between appropriation and APPRECIATION.
Im only posting to provide UNDERSTANDING.
Yes she lied but I truly understand why so I don't harbor any bad feelings towards this woman. Its not worth the energy. I simply want to provide understanding & would do the same for anyone who wanted to tell their story.
I love my people and i pray we get the healing we need to rise above all the hate & ignorance that blocks us from being our best selves.
    May God bless us all.

Look, the One-Drop rule was a slavery law. Biracial people do the same thing all the time, this is such a non-issue. She dedicated her life to the black community's success, whether she lied or not about herself s really irrelevant. But black people still go around givign the Kardashians media support, buying other white-owned brands that literally just use black people and dispose of them when they are no longer useful.
They don't adopt black kids and certainly dont give a hoot about what the NAACP is doing or is trying to do. She did more for the black community than half the people in this country, black and white together, so it's sad that people can't forgive this very small thing. Let the woman have peace and see herself as black if she want to. When we all die, the we shrivel up to have the same old bones. This racial tension is getting out of hand.

Especially when society, more particularly our media “exposes” them for a controversy one way or the other. There is some kind of primal urge within many of us to pile on people, to take out our insecurities we find within ourselves on others. It’s such a god damn bummer. I think the saying “bad news travels fast” in a way validates the idea that we have a lot to learn about acceptance. Small minds tend to discuss other people, where as great minds tend discuss ideas. We are a small minded species clearly.

Here’s my honest perspective on “transracial” as an identity. It only works one way. Speaking specifically to the black and white races, being that Rachel is in fact a white woman who claims to be black, well claiming human now🙄! If the circumstance were reversed it would be blasphemous! A person born black could never reap the benefits of attempting to claim white, we’d never access white privilege! Not a single system would allow it! We’d still be shot by the police for breathing, we’d still be mistreated in healthcare situations, we’d still be denied jobs based on the color of our skin! There is no amount of mental disturbance, lies sold to self, skin bleaching, or willful ignorance that could erase one being black! So, if this were an actual thing, why does it only work for everyone unless they are in fact black?

@Ooh big tech will cancel u if u say that. Veto230 Noooo Nice try though! Your false equivalency logic is deeply flawed and honestly it shows a deep level of willful ignorance. A person is not inherently problematic if you are "white" but if you can't understand or are unwilling to admit that our country, institutions and culture were and are built on the fallacy of the supremacy, pervasiveness and centering of "whiteness" you are ignorant of history and don't want things to change. I get it, it's ugly uncomfortable business to face our racialized legacy in this country, and honestly if I were white and never really had to think about these things because they don't directly impact me or anyone I care about, I'd feel bothered by it too. At most, I'd only probably be able to acknowledge there are a few "racist bad apples" somewhere out there and that it has nothing to do with me, rather than recognizing it as being a systemic issue that EVERYONE is involved in perpetuating. Unfortunately, as long as folx such as yourself keep loudly and wrongly proclaiming there is nothing to see, not only will things not change in the direction of the aspirational "post racial" utopia, it will most certainly be this country's downfall.

Not all “Asians” are EAST Asian. I am part Kazakh (Central Asia) and look quite “Asian”. To me, using the term “Asian” is inaccurate because Asian people can have many looks. There are Jews, Arabs, Indians, Persians , Kurds , etc. that don’t fit the Asian phenotype. The people of Central Asia can look as “Asian” as they do in East Asia. The term”Oriental” is outdated. Using the term “Mongoloid” is more accurate.
