@@Garrett1240 not sure if he relapsed but I read years ago he had a heroin problem before the band took off, dont know if it was particularly serious but it was a story about Pete going to his house with a load of heroin they did together then flushing the rest because he felt so bad about corrupting him after he was doing so well clean, been 16 years since I read it so may have a few things not 100%
I love Peters look at the end. His eyes, it's like an acceptance, he's happy to show that that is exactly what he was doing to himself. And he's back better than ever.

Sitting here, stunned. This was courageous and affecting. John's look of stoic misery and Gary's disbelief were integral. I thought the use of the peep-show technique was inspired also, with the obvious turn-ons, or mute horror of the the observers as they watched Carl's and Peter's struggles with drink and drugs, and each other. Make no mistake, this was about BOTH of them. This was about all of them. This was about all of US.

I think the music video was used to show that, their drug addiction was caused by their selves but continued from the reactions of the public, such a clever video and such a great band. Want to see them live again
I never thought I'd love a band as much as The Smiths, but I think The Libs are it! They get me jumping, crying, laughing every time I hear them. Saw them in Edinburgh in August '23 - astounding! Too loud, but I think I should have been by the mixing desk. xxx ... and Babyshambles are no slouch either...
This is beautiful but so heartbreaking at the same time. As a fan it makes me feel guilty and filthy. But they're really courageous for doing something like this, the four of them. One of the many things that come to my mind when I see John's look of hopelessness and misery is 'There are no innocent bystanders'. This is a masterpiece.

A brave piece of film -- trust the Libertines not to shy away from controversial topics -- to face the past is the only way move forward -- it took a lot of guts for Peter & Carl to film this -- also the message that people (and tabloids) enjoy watching others suffer. Watching John, Gary and Carl's faces was also upsetting. Also another great song.

I've been into the Libertines for over ten years. Back then I knew some people who like them too, but for years I've just enjoyed them in my bedroom and in my mind, privately, you could say. I was into them, especially at first, in the way the laughing kids are in the video, and sometimes in even in the fetishized way of the couple making out. I would never have been able to articulate it before this video, but those avenues into the Libertines, absorbing the media spun images of their self-destruction feel wrong, and even felt wrong in a way at the time though I was not fully aware of it. The guy at the start and end of the video understands. As positive an outlook as the Libertines offer, and as cool as they really are, they are singing about the hardest times in life, and I think that's always what attracted me to them--that's the heart of the matter. And to appreciate this music is to appreciate an expression of deep and human pain and struggling, like that of Odysseus and Aeneas. I consider the Libertines to be worthy followers in the footsteps of John Milton as masters of the English language and contemporary poetry that invokes the classics and the sympathy of the masses at the same time.
