True, I remember first hearing their songs during the MySpace era. It’s a shame they weren’t more popular. I get the feeling that one of their songs will be featured in a movie sometime in the future and then they’ll finally get the recognition they deserved.
So much nostalgia! Grew up in a little town in northern England and this just takes me right back to dossing about with my mates when we were 18. Great times.
Having grown up in mexico, I can honestly say this song brings nostalgic feelings. The sound and music are very similar to that of which I grew up listening to. I know live in the U.S and can honestly say music here does not have that same effect on me. I am glad to see that rock music is still alive, I love this band and it is sad to learn they are no longer together.
I miss Dirty Pretty Things. I adore The Libertines and Carl's new band The Jackals, but I always had a soft spot for Dirty Pretty Things. Both their albums were great. I'm just glad Carl is still making brilliant music with the Libertines again and the Jackals. It would be a shame to never hear any DPT songs performed live anymore though, or does Carl still perform any of them, anyone know?
+Spader Holic He actually still performs some songs form DPT with The Jackals, at least when I got to see them in march. He also plays some of the Libertine's :)
The track is about the feeling of being betrayed by someone close to you. The lyrics describe the narrator's realization that the person has infected their relationship with lies and malicious gossip, which was made worse by the person turning it around and putting the blame on the narrator. The chorus asserts that "Bang bang, you're dead", meaning the relationship is irreparable and lost. The song encourages the listener to see the truth of these relationships, recognize the hurtful behaviour, and move on with life.
Just proves what an incredible talent Carl is, it wasn't all Pete and Babyshambles haven't done anything this good. They belong together and it warms my heart that they've reunited, the live show will be insane.
Who knows, Johnny is in Razorlight right ? Pete and Babyshambles. Carl and Gary are in Dirty Pretty Things. but they said they want to write some new songs together and see if it still sounds good and go from there.
-Half I think Babyshambles and Pete's solo stuff are too established now and Carl believe it or not has been taking part in a project in France where he's singing opera. We might get the odd reunion concert every couple of years unless they realise however good they are alone something magical happens when they work together.
Anton Haq Anton ! It's been almost a year exactly and the boys are back ! Have you had a chance to listen to the new Album ?! I love it. Plenty more lives shows to come !
Lyrics I knew all along That I was right at the start About the seeds of the weeds That grew in your heart Self satisfaction for the factions Who formed to tear us apart Oh I gave you the Midas touch As you turned round to scratch out my heart Oh what did you expect? viewtifull joe I do, don't I? I'm not. I'm a pitiful jerk. I'm nice and polite and good. And morally sound. And I don't break the rules. But I'm always the asshole.
@goodjojo1 I agree and I'm American. i listen to maybe 95% of this music and play soccer. I want to travel with my family to Europe, but I feel like everybody would just totally discrimante me for being American.
@RorysNotAround their first album came out the year after though, and The Libertines have stated how the breakthrough of The Strokes helped them break through
Never listened this band until now. If i understand the meaning of the words then I'm a little saddened by them. Reminds me strongly of when I first heard 'How do you sleep?' by John Lennon. It's a spiteful song inst it. Why cant we all just get along ;)
owwww what a shame they were definitley in my top 6 bands with a trumpet from the UK and/or ireland in the last 8 years. did they make up a new band. do you know ??
So much nostalgia my mum loved this song and every time I hear it reminds me of her R.I.P
This band was one of the most underrated bands ever. Too bad they broke up in 2008 and it's a pity that they only went on for three years.

@@voige8437 Sorry you're mistaken. DPT were formed in 2005, The Jackals in 2014

The Live show was insane ! Hyde Park on the 5th of July, it was insane, truly amazing and i loved it

I love the little melodrama that was going on between him and Pete. Reminds me of the Taking Back Sunday vs Brand new thing.
Gotta love dpt
Their last tour was banging. Love you guys xx
Lyrics
I knew all along
That I was right at the start
About the seeds of the weeds
That grew in your heart
Self satisfaction for the factions
Who formed to tear us apart
Oh I gave you the Midas touch
As you turned round to scratch out my heart
Oh what did you expect?
Oh tell me what did you expect?
To lay it on my head?
So is it all upon my head?
Bang bang you're dead!
Oh I'm so easily lead
Bang, bang, you're de-e-ead!
Put all those rumours to bed
Bang, bang you're dead
I knew all along
But I was loathed to believe
There was nothing but spite
Fury and lies in the words that you weave
Bring our illusion to a conclusion
With all our unsold dreams
Put it to bed, kick it in the head
Oh won't they just let it be
Bang bang you're dead!
Oh I'm so easily lead
Bang, bang, you're de-e-ead!
Put all those rumours to bed
Bang, bang you're dead
Bang bang bang bang you're dead
*'Always so easily lead' (Peter)
*an illusion to a conclusion and oh it's oh so TAWDRY
Unsold dreams? I'll have what you're smoking!
Nice work though dude because i suspect English isn't your first language
