    I got an old billet crank stroker from John west racing out of a truck Donnie Braxton used to run. Put it in my ZR2 about 7 years ago, still run it today although it's turned into a mostly street truck, custom frame, total drop of about 7/5 , stengle bros sorings, nodded a arms, custom keyed/T bars, Mason Smith/cpt/b1 trans build 4l79 based in a 2pc 60 case, mild build astro TC, toughened up 10 bolt, crane stuff like you with all arp, jba , custom downtubes, outlaw 2 (2->4->1). Rubs pretty good best et (1/8) 7.845 on 28.105w's. Street it on 315s and 6's. Love your stuff, gotta catch up on some newer ones! #Raleigh

    Hey man I got the S10 Xtreme 03 with 4.3 in it. Been thinking about trying to cam it. I was curious tho do u get better power out of the carburetor than the fuel injection.

    • @rivercitymusclecars
      @rivercitymusclecars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on set up. But you can have a cam cut that will work with your fuel injection system.

    What's a motor like that cost without the nos setup and the carb setup just TBI I guess

      @rivercitymusclecars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I built the whole motor for like $2500 I think with carb.

    I have a 89 S10 Cameo that I bought new ,don't really want to put a small block in it. Would it be better to start with the later 4.3 or could I put the later heads on mine ...thanks I know your busy

    • @rivercitymusclecars
      @rivercitymusclecars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think it really matters what short block you use. Balance shaft or not. If you plan on buying heads like the Brodix head then you will be good. Just put enough camshaft in it to make use of all that head flow.

    • @rivercitymusclecars
      @rivercitymusclecars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the later vortec head will bolt right to any 4.3 block

    I'm building a very similar setup with an #880 vortec 350 block and matching 64cc heads, 2VR flat tops, std bore but Zero decked and align honed, i like this Howards Cams factory roller @.050-217/225, .495/.500, 110°LSA(waiting on centerline specs to see if its advanced already but assuming so) My question sir, what is your quench? You think i may need to run a slightly bigger intake duration cam so my Dynamic compression is 93 friendly? This is all research, no life experience with this setup. Thats why im asking you. But i want some torque down low and mid. 3.08 gears for now. I'm at the point in the build where i need to fine tune that quench with a headhasket amd select a cam. I'm thinking i want a 030-.045" quench area to fight off detonation. I don't mind running 93 but I don't want to have to start putting bottles of octane booster and every tank. If possible. Going in an 85 CJ7 4spd. Semi daily driver, weekend fun. If you get to me, i really appreciate it. And i understand and its an opinion in your experience. Love the video

      Are you planning on boost or spray?

    • @AR_420
      @AR_420 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rivercitymusclecars, i may, at most, spray 75-125shot, whatever's appropriate, for any goofing around shenanigans type of stuff. But isn't in the budget quite yet. Has highway gears but will change later on to 3.73 probably. Engine is sucking all $ right now

    • @AR_420
      @AR_420 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rivercitymusclecars Honestly, the short block is built minus cam. JUST got it back from the machine shop. Most of this is hypothetical. I know i want a strong bottom to mid range but not fall on its face @ 4800. Maybe impossible? Lol

    • @rivercitymusclecars
      @rivercitymusclecars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AR_420 ok. For a 350 Chevy with iron heads and a fast burn heart shaped combustion chamber you should be good if you run .041 head gasket. That should get you to around 10:1. Camshaft wise I would put a little more I take @050 Something in the 225-230 range. Exhaust 235-245 range. Intake lobe centerline of 106 with lsa of 110 will make plenty low end power and have a nice lopey idle. Performer Rpm intake. And keep timing around 34-35* and you should be fine for pump. If you spray anything over 50 shot with this set up I would def run a 110 race gas mix for that. Also running a 1.5 tube header with a 2.5” or 3”collector will help that bottom too.

      @@rivercitymusclecars YOU'RE MY HERO!!! Appreciate you taking the time to reply and help out. Means alot!😊✌I took a screenshot of reply and put it in my pic folder for my build project. With cam selection, I just didn't want to be that guy to put too big of a camshaft for what he needed and my gear ratio. Oh, i have 1.560 comp height pistons with the zero deck....

    6 inch rod isn’t an option on the 4.3, unless you had a set custom made. Rod journals are 2.250 not 2.100 like a SBC.
